1 “These things have I spoken to you, so that you wouldn’t be caused to stumble.
1 Ay na sanney din ci araŋ se zama araŋ ma si harta.
1These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be caused to stumble.
2 They will put you out of the synagogues. Yes, the time comes that whoever kills you will think that he offers service to God.
2 I g'araŋ kaa ngey diina margey ra. Oho, saaya go kaa kaŋ boro kaŋ g'araŋ wi ga tammahã hala nga goono ga goy Irikoy se no.
2They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you shall think that he offereth service unto God.
3 They will do these things TR adds “to you” because they have not known the Father, nor me.
3 I ga hayey din te zama i mana Baaba bay, i man'ay mo bay.
3And these things will they do, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
4 But I have told you these things, so that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you about them. I didn’t tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you.
4 Amma ay na sanney din ci araŋ se zama waati kaŋ i alwaato to, araŋ ma fongu kaŋ ay n'i ci araŋ se. Ay mana sanney din ci araŋ se za sintina zama ay go araŋ do.
4But these things have I spoken unto you, that when their hour is come, ye may remember them, how that I told you. And these things I said not unto you from the beginning, because I was with you.
5 But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’
5 Amma sohõ ay goono ga ye _Irikoy|_ kaŋ n'ay donton do koyne. Araŋ boro kulu s'ay hã nango kaŋ ay go ga koy mo.
5But now I go unto him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
6 But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart.
6 Amma araŋ biney to da bine saray zama ay na sanney din salaŋ araŋ se.
6But because I have spoken these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away, the Counselor won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
7 Kulu nda yaadin ay ga cimi ci araŋ se: a ga bisa araŋ se ay ma koy, zama nd'ay mana koy, Gaakwa si kaa araŋ do. Amma d'ay koy, ay g'a donton araŋ do.
7Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I go, I will send him unto you.
8 When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment;
8 Nga mo, waati kaŋ a ga kaa, a ga ndunnya zeeri zunubi da adilitaray da ciiti se.
8And he, when he is come, will convict the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 about sin, because they don’t believe in me;
9 Zunubi se no zama i si g'ay cimandi.
9of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 about righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you won’t see me any more;
10 Adilitaray se no zama ay goono ga koy Baaba do, araŋ si ye ka di ay koyne.
10of righteousness, because I go to the Father, and ye behold me no more;
11 about judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged.
11 Ciiti se mo no zama i na ndunnya wo koyo ciiti.
11of judgment, because the prince of this world hath been judged.
12 “I have yet many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now.
12 Ay gonda hari boobo kaŋ ay ga ci araŋ se, amma araŋ si hin ey sohõ.
12I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming.
13 Amma waati kaŋ nga kaŋ ti cimi Biya ga kaa, a ga furo araŋ jine cimi kulu ra, zama a si salaŋ nga boŋ sanni, amma sanni kulu kaŋ a maa, nga no a ga ci. A g'araŋ kabarandi nda hayey kaŋ ga kaa mo.
13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but what things soever he shall hear, [these] shall he speak: and he shall declare unto you the things that are to come.
14 He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you.
14 A g'ay beerandi, zama a ga sambu ay waney ra k'araŋ kabarandi nd'ey.
14He shall glorify me: for he shall take of mine, and shall declare [it] unto you.
15 All things whatever the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes TR reads “will take” instead of “takes” of mine, and will declare it to you.
15 Hay kulu kaŋ ga ti Baaba wane, ay wane no. Woodin sabbay se no ay ne cimi Biya din ga sambu ay waney ra k'araŋ kabarandi nd'ey.
15All things whatsoever the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he taketh of mine, and shall declare [it] unto you.
16 A little while, and you will not see me. Again a little while, and you will see me.”
16 A cindi kayna fo araŋ si ye ka di ay, a cindi kayna koyne araŋ ga ye ka di ay.»
16A little while, and ye behold me no more; and again a little while, and ye shall see me.
17Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;’ and, ‘Because I go to the Father?’ ”
17 A talibey ra afooyaŋ binde ne care se: «Ifo no a goono ga ne iri se wo: ‹A cindi kayna fo araŋ si ye ka di ay, a cindi kayna koyne araŋ ga ye ka di ay›, da mo: ‹Zama ay goono ga koy Baaba do›?»
17[Some] of his disciples therefore said one to another, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye behold me not; and again a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
18They said therefore, “What is this that he says, ‘A little while?’ We don’t know what he is saying.”
18 Woodin sabbay se i goono ga ne: «Ifo no woone kaŋ a goono ga ci ka ne: ‹a cindi kayna›? Iri si bay haŋ kaŋ boŋ a goono ga salaŋ.»
18They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? We know not what he saith.
19Therefore Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, “Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me?’
19 Waato kaŋ Yesu bay kaŋ i ga ba ngey ma nga hã, kal a ne i se: «Araŋ goono ga care hã sanno wo kaŋ ay ne araŋ se boŋ, kaŋ ay ne: a cindi kayna fo araŋ si ye ka di ay, a cindi kayna koyne araŋ ga ye ka di ay?
19Jesus perceived that they were desirous to ask him, and he said unto them, Do ye inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, A little while, and ye behold me not, and again a little while, and ye shall see me?
20 Most certainly I tell you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.
20 Haciika, haciika ay ga ci araŋ se: araŋ ga hẽ ka baray, amma ndunnya ga farhã. Araŋ ga te bine saray, amma araŋ bine sara ga bare ka te farhã.
20Verily, verily, I say unto you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
21 A woman, when she gives birth, has sorrow, because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she doesn’t remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a human being is born into the world.
21 Waati kaŋ wayboro go hay-zaŋay ra, a bine ga sara zama a saaya to, amma waati kaŋ a na ize hay, a si fongu nda taabo koyne farhã sabbay se, zama a na ize hay ndunnya ra.
21A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but when she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for the joy that a man is born into the world.
22 Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.
22 Araŋ mo, sohõ araŋ gonda bine saray, amma ay ga ye ka di araŋ. Waato din no araŋ biney ga farhã, araŋ farhãyaŋo mo boro kulu s'a kaa araŋ gaa.
22And ye therefore now have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one taketh away from you.
23 “In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
23 Zaaro din _kaŋ ga kaa|_ ra, araŋ s'ay hã hay kulu. Haciika, haciika ay ga ci araŋ se: hay kulu kaŋ araŋ ga Baaba ŋwaaray, a g'araŋ no nd'a ay maa ra.
23And in that day ye shall ask me no question. Verily, verily, I say unto you, if ye shall ask anything of the Father, he will give it you in my name.
24 Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.
24 Hala sohõ araŋ mana hay kulu ŋwaaray ay maa ra. Wa ŋwaaray, araŋ ga du mo, zama araŋ farhã ma to.
24Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be made full.
25 I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time is coming when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father.
25 Ay na sanney din ci araŋ se da misayaŋ. Saaya go kaa kaŋ ay si ye ka salaŋ araŋ se da misayaŋ koyne, amma ay ga Baaba baaro ci araŋ se taray kwaaray.
25These things have I spoken unto you in dark sayings: the hour cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in dark sayings, but shall tell you plainly of the Father.
26 In that day you will ask in my name; and I don’t say to you, that I will pray to the Father for you,
26 Zaaro din ra araŋ ga ŋwaaray ay maa ra. Ay si ne araŋ se ay ga Baaba ŋwaaray araŋ se,
26In that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you;
27 for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from God.
27 zama Baaba bumbo ga ba araŋ zama araŋ ga ba ay, araŋ cimandi mo kaŋ ay fun Irikoy do.
27for the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from the Father.
28 I came out from the Father, and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.”
28 Ay kaa ka fun Baaba do ka zumbu ndunnya ra. Sohõ, ay ga fun ndunnya ra ka koy Baabo do.»
28I came out from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go unto the Father.
29His disciples said to him, “Behold, now you speak plainly, and speak no figures of speech.
29 A talibey ne: «Sohõ ni goono ga salaŋ ka feeri. Ni si no ga salaŋ da misayaŋ.
29His disciples say, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no dark saying.
30Now we know that you know all things, and don’t need for anyone to question you. By this we believe that you came forth from God.”
30 Sohõ iri ga bay kaŋ ni ga hay kulu bay, ni si ba boro kulu ma ni hã. Woodin se no iri go ga cimandi kaŋ ni fun Irikoy do.»
30Now know we that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
31Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe?
31 Yesu tu i se ka ne: «Sohõ araŋ cimandi!
31Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
32 Behold, the time is coming, yes, and has now come, that you will be scattered, everyone to his own place, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
32 Guna, saaya go kaa, oho, a to mo, kaŋ araŋ ga say-say. Boro kulu ga nga boŋ ceeci, araŋ g'ay naŋ ay hinne. Amma manti ay hinne no bo, zama Baaba go ay banda.
32Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and [yet] I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33 I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.”
33 Ay na sanney din ci araŋ se, zama ay ra araŋ ma du laakal kanay. Ndunnya ra araŋ gonda taabi, amma wa te bine-gaabi, ay te zaama ndunnya boŋ.»
33These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
