8

1but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
1 amma Yesu kaaru Zeytun tondo boŋ.
1but Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2Now very early in the morning, he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him. He sat down, and taught them.
2 Za mo bo a ye ka furo Irikoy windo ra. Borey kulu goono ga kaa a do, a goro mo k'i dondonandi.
2And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman taken in adultery. Having set her in the midst,
3 Kala asariya dondonandikoy da Farisi fonda borey kande wayboro fo kaŋ i di zina ra k'a daŋ jama bindo ra.
3And the scribes and the Pharisees bring a woman taken in adultery; and having set her in the midst,
4they told him, “Teacher, we found this woman in adultery, in the very act.
4 I ne Yesu se: «Alfa, wayboro wo, zina ra no i n'a di waato kaŋ a goono g'a te.
4they say unto him, Teacher, this woman hath been taken in adultery, in the very act.
5Now in our law, Moses commanded us to stone such. What then do you say about her?”
5 To. Asariya ra Musa n'iri lordi ka ne iri ma wayborey wo dumi catu ka wi da tondiyaŋ. Ni binde, ifo no ni ga ne a boŋ?»
5Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such: what then sayest thou of her?
6They said this testing him, that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped down, and wrote on the ground with his finger.
6 (Amma i na woodin ci zama i goono g'a si, zama ngey ma du kobay a boŋ k'a kalima.) Amma Yesu gungum ka hantum laabo ra nda nga kambayzo.
6And this they said, trying him, that they might have [whereof] to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.
7But when they continued asking him, he looked up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her.”
7 Amma waato kaŋ i soobay k'a hã, a tun ka kay ka ne i se: «Araŋ ra boro kaŋ sinda zunubi ma jin k'a catu nda tondi.»
7But when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8Again he stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.
8 A ye ka gungum ka hantum laabo ra koyne.
8And again he stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.
9They, when they heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning from the oldest, even to the last. Jesus was left alone with the woman where she was, in the middle.
9 Ngey mo, waato kaŋ i maa woodin, i fatta afo-fo, ibeerey ka kaa ikayney, kal ikulu ban. I na Yesu naŋ nga hinne nda waybora mo nango kaŋ a go ga kay bindo ra.
9And they, when they heard it, went out one by one, beginning from the eldest, [even] unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the midst.
10Jesus, standing up, saw her and said, “Woman, where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you?”
10 Yesu tun ka kay ka ne a se: «Waybora, man i go? Boro kulu mana ni ciiti ka zeeri?»
10And Jesus lifted up himself, and said unto her, Woman, where are they? did no man condemn thee?
11She said, “No one, Lord.” Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more.”
11 Waybora ne: «Boro kulu si no, ya Rabbi.» Yesu mo ne: «Ay mo si ni ciiti ka zeeri. Ma koy ni koyyaŋ. Ma si ye ka zunubi te koyne.»
11And she said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said, Neither do I condemn thee: go thy way; from henceforth sin no more.
12Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”
12 Yesu binde ye ka salaŋ i se ka ne: «Ay no ga ti ndunnya annura. Boro kaŋ g'ay gana si dira kubay ra hal abada, amma a ga du fundi kaari.»
12Again therefore Jesus spake unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.
13The Pharisees therefore said to him, “You testify about yourself. Your testimony is not valid.”
13 Gaa no, Farisi fonda borey ne a se: «Ni goono ga seeda ni boŋ se, ni seeda manti cimi no.»
13The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest witness of thyself; thy witness is not true.
14Jesus answered them, “Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from, and where I am going; but you don’t know where I came from, or where I am going.
14 Yesu tu i se ka ne: «Baa d'ay ga seeda ay boŋ se, ay seeda ya cimi no, zama ay ga bay naŋ kaŋ ay fun da naŋ kaŋ ay ga koy mo. Amma araŋ si bay naŋ kaŋ ay fun da naŋ kaŋ ay ga koy.
14Jesus answered and said unto them, Even if I bear witness of myself, my witness is true; for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye know not whence I come, or whither I go.
15 You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.
15 Araŋ ga ciiti danga mate kaŋ ndunnya borey ga te, ay wo si boro kulu ciiti.
15Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
16 Even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me.
16 Amma baa d'ay ga ciiti mo, ay ciito ya cimi no, zama manti ay hinne no, amma in d'ay Baabo kaŋ n'ay donton no.
16Yea and if I judge, my judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
17 It’s also written in your law that the testimony of two people is valid.
17 Baa araŋ asariya ra a go hantumante kaŋ boro hinka seeda ya cimi no.
17Yea and in your law it is written, that the witness of two men is true.
18 I am one who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me.”
18 To, ay goono ga seeda ay boŋ se, Baaba kaŋ n'ay donton mo goono ga seeda ay boŋ.»
18I am he that beareth witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
19They said therefore to him, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me, nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.”
19 Gaa no i ne a se: «Man ni Baaba?» Yesu tu i se ka ne: «Araŋ s'ay bay, araŋ s'ay Baabo mo bay. D'araŋ n'ay bay, doŋ araŋ g'ay Baabo mo bay.»
19They said therefore unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye know neither me, nor my Father: if ye knew me, ye would know my Father also.
20Jesus spoke these words in the treasury, as he taught in the temple. Yet no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.
20 A na sanney din ci nooru jisiro do, waato kaŋ a go ga dondonandi Irikoy windo ra. Boro kulu man'a di, zama a alwaato mana to jina.
20These words spake he in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man took him; because his hour was not yet come.
21Jesus said therefore again to them, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sins. Where I go, you can’t come.”
21 A ye ka ci i se koyne ka ne: «Ay ga dira. Araŋ g'ay ceeci, araŋ ga bu araŋ zunubey ra mo. Naŋ kaŋ ay ga koy, araŋ si hin ka kaa.»
21He said therefore again unto them, I go away, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sin: whither I go, ye cannot come.
22The Jews therefore said, “Will he kill himself, that he says, ‘Where I am going, you can’t come?’
22 Yahudancey binde goono ga ne: «A ga nga boŋ wi no, wala? Zama a ne naŋ kaŋ nga ga koy, iri si hin ka kaa.»
22The Jews therefore said, Will he kill himself, that he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come?
23He said to them, “You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.
23 A ne i se: «Araŋ wo ganda no araŋ fun, ay wo beene. Araŋ wo ndunnya wo wane yaŋ no. Ay wo manti ndunnya wo wane no.
23And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
24 I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.”
24 Woodin sabbay se no ay ci araŋ se ka ne araŋ ga bu araŋ zunubey ra. Zama d'araŋ mana cimandi kaŋ ay no ga ti AY* GO NO, araŋ ga bu araŋ zunubey ra.»
24I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for except ye believe that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins.
25They said therefore to him, “Who are you?” Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning.
25 I ne a se: «Ni ga ti may?» Yesu ne i se: «Bora kaŋ ay ci araŋ se za sintina no.
25They said therefore unto him, Who art thou? Jesus said unto them, Even that which I have also spoken unto you from the beginning.
26 I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you. However he who sent me is true; and the things which I heard from him, these I say to the world.”
26 Ay gonda hari boobo kaŋ ay ga ci ka ciiti mo araŋ boŋ, ay dontonkwa ya cimikoy mo no. Haŋ kaŋ ay maa a do, woodin yaŋ no ay goono ga salaŋ ndunnya se.»
26I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you: howbeit he that sent me is true; and the things which I heard from him, these speak I unto the world.
27They didn’t understand that he spoke to them about the Father.
27 I mana faham kaŋ Baabo sanni no a goono ga te ngey se.
27They perceived not that he spake to them of the Father.
28Jesus therefore said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself, but as my Father taught me, I say these things.
28 Yesu binde ne i se: «Waati kaŋ araŋ ga Boro Izo sambu beene, araŋ ga bay kaŋ ay no ga ti AY* GO NO. Ay si hay kulu te ay boŋ se, amma ay goono ga hayey din salaŋ mate kaŋ cine ay Baaba n'ay dondonandi nd'a.
28Jesus therefore said, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am [he], and [that] I do nothing of myself, but as the Father taught me, I speak these things.
29 He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn’t left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”
29 Ay dontonkwa mo go ay banda, a man'ay naŋ ay hinne, zama ay goono ga te hayey kaŋ ga kaan a se waati kulu.»
29And he that sent me is with me; he hath not left me alone; for I do always the things that are pleasing to him.
30As he spoke these things, many believed in him.
30 Kaŋ a na sanney din ci, boro boobo n'a cimandi.
30As he spake these things, many believed on him.
31Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him, “If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples.
31 Yahudancey din binde kaŋ yaŋ n'a cimandi, Yesu ne i se: «D'araŋ goro ay sanno ra, araŋ ga ciya ay talibiyaŋ da cimi.
31Jesus therefore said to those Jews that had believed him, If ye abide in my word, [then] are ye truly my disciples;
32 You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
32 Araŋ ga cimo bay, cimo mo g'araŋ fansa.»
32and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33They answered him, “We are Abraham’s seed, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How do you say, ‘You will be made free?’
33 I tu a se ka ne: «Iri wo Ibrahim haamayaŋ no, iri mana bay ka ciya boro kulu bannya. Mate no ni ga te ka ne iri ga ciya burciniyaŋ?»
33They answered unto him, We are Abraham's seed, and have never yet been in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
34Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin.
34 Yesu tu i se ka ne: «Haciika, haciika ay ga ci araŋ se: boro kulu kaŋ ga zunubi te ya zunubi bannya no.
34Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Every one that committeth sin is the bondservant of sin.
35 A bondservant doesn’t live in the house forever. A son remains forever.
35 Bannya mo si goro fu waati kulu, izo no ga goro waati kulu.
35And the bondservant abideth not in the house for ever: the son abideth for ever.
36 If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
36 Da Izo g'araŋ fansa, araŋ ga ciya fansanteyaŋ da cimi.
36If therefore the Son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
37 I know that you are Abraham’s seed, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you.
37 Ay bay kaŋ araŋ ya Ibrahim haamayaŋ no. Amma araŋ goono ga ceeci araŋ m'ay wi, zama ay sanno sinda goray nangu araŋ do.
37I know that ye are Abraham's seed: yet ye seek to kill me, because my word hath not free course in you.
38 I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have seen with your father.”
38 Ay wo ci hayey kaŋ ay di Baaba do. Araŋ mo go ga te hayey kaŋ araŋ maa araŋ baaba do.»
38I speak the things which I have seen with [my] Father: and ye also do the things which ye heard from [your] father.
39They answered him, “Our father is Abraham.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.
39 I tu a se ka ne: «Iri baaba ga ti Ibrahim.» Yesu ne i se: «D'araŋ ya Ibrahim izeyaŋ no, doŋ araŋ ga Ibrahim te-goyey te.
39They answered and said unto him, Our father is Abraham. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
40 But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God. Abraham didn’t do this.
40 Amma sohõ araŋ go ga ceeci araŋ m'ay wi, ay kaŋ ti bora kaŋ na cimo ci araŋ se kaŋ ay maa Irikoy do. Ibrahim binde mana te yaadin.
40But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I heard from God: this did not Abraham.
41 You do the works of your father.” They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God.”
41 Araŋ wo goono g'araŋ baabo goyey te.» I ne a se: «Iri wo, i mana iri hay zina ra. Iri gonda baaba folloŋ kaŋ ga ti Irikoy.»
41Ye do the works of your father. They said unto him, We were not born of fornication; we have one Father, [even] God.
42Therefore Jesus said to them, “If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I haven’t come of myself, but he sent me.
42 Yesu ne i se: «D'araŋ baaba ga ti Irikoy, doŋ araŋ ga ba ay, zama Irikoy do no ay fun. Zama ay mana kaa ay boŋ miila se, amma nga no k'ay donton.
42Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I came forth and am come from God; for neither have I come of myself, but he sent me.
43 Why don’t you understand my speech? Because you can’t hear my word.
43 Ifo se no araŋ si faham nd'ay sanney? To, zama araŋ si du ka maa ay sanno.
43Why do ye not understand my speech? [Even] because ye cannot hear my word.
44 You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and its father.
44 Araŋ ya araŋ baabo Iblisi* wane yaŋ no, araŋ baabo ibaayo teeyaŋ mo no araŋ ga ba. Nga wo boro-wi no za sintina. A si kay cimi gaa, zama a sinda cimi nga ra. Waati kaŋ a ga tangari te, nga boŋ do no a g'a te, zama nga wo tangarikom no, tangari baaba mo no.
44Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father it is your will to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and standeth not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.
45 But because I tell the truth, you don’t believe me.
45 Amma zama ay ga cimo ci, araŋ s'ay cimandi.
45But because I say the truth, ye believe me not.
46 Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?
46 Araŋ ra may no ga hin ka cabe kaŋ ay na zunubi te? Da cimi no ay goono ga ci, ifo se no araŋ s'ay cimandi?
46Which of you convicteth me of sin? If I say truth, why do ye not believe me?
47 He who is of God hears the words of God. For this cause you don’t hear, because you are not of God.”
47 Boro kaŋ ga ti Irikoy wane ga maa Irikoy sanney. Haŋ kaŋ se araŋ siino ga maa r'ey neeya: zama araŋ wo manti Irikoy wane yaŋ no.»
47He that is of God heareth the words of God: for this cause ye hear [them] not, because ye are not of God.
48Then the Jews answered him, “Don’t we say well that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon?”
48 Yahudancey tu a se ka ne: «E! Manti iri gonda cimi bo kaŋ iri ne ni ya Samariya boro no, ni gonda follay* mo?»
48The Jews answered and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a demon?
49Jesus answered, “I don’t have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.
49 Yesu tu i se ka ne: «Ay sinda follay, amma ay go g'ay Baaba beerandi, araŋ mo go g'ay kaynandi.
49Jesus answered, I have not a demon; but I honor my Father, and ye dishonor me.
50 But I don’t seek my own glory. There is one who seeks and judges.
50 Amma ay wo, manti ay boŋ beeray no ay goono ga ceeci bo. A go no nga kaŋ g'a ceeci, a ga ciiti mo.
50But I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.
51 Most certainly, I tell you, if a person keeps my word, he will never see death.”
51 Haciika, haciika ay ga ci araŋ se: boro kaŋ g'ay sanno gana si di buuyaŋ hal abada.»
51Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my word, he shall never see death.
52Then the Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and you say, ‘If a man keeps my word, he will never taste of death.’
52 Yahudancey ne a se: «Sohõ no iri bay kaŋ ni gonda follay. Ibrahim bu, annabey mo bu. Ni mo go ga ne boro kaŋ ga ni sanno gana si buuyaŋ taba abada.
52The Jews said unto him, Now we know that thou hast a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my word, he shall never taste of death.
53Are you greater than our father, Abraham, who died? The prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?”
53 Wala ni bisa iri kaayo Ibrahim beeray no? A bu, annabey mo bu. May no ni ga ni boŋ himandi?»
53Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who died? and the prophets died: whom makest thou thyself?
54Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say that he is our God.
54 Yesu tu i se ka ne: «D'ay g'ay boŋ beerandi, ay beera manti hay kulu no. Ay Baaba no goono g'ay beerandi, nga kaŋ se araŋ ga ne araŋ Irikoyo.
54Jesus answered, If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing: it is my Father that glorifieth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God;
55 You have not known him, but I know him. If I said, ‘I don’t know him,’ I would be like you, a liar. But I know him, and keep his word.
55 Araŋ man'a bay mo, amma ay wo g'a bay. D'ay ne ay s'a bay, ay ciya sanda araŋ cine, tangarikom. Amma ay g'a bay, ay g'a sanno gana mo.
55and ye have not known him: but I know him; and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be like unto you, a liar: but I know him, and keep his word.
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day. He saw it, and was glad.”
56 Araŋ baabo Ibrahim wo farhã d'ay zaaro diyaŋ. Hal a di a, a bina kaan mo.»
56Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day; and he saw it, and was glad.
57The Jews therefore said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?”
57 Yahudancey binde ne a se: «Ni mana to jiiri waygu jina! Ni di Ibrahim, wala?»
57The Jews therefore said unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58Jesus said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, before Abraham came into existence, I AM.
58 Yesu ne i se: «Haciika, haciika ay ga ci araŋ se: za i mana Ibrahim hay, AY* GO NO.»
58Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was born, I am.
59Therefore they took up stones to throw at him, but Jesus was hidden, and went out of the temple, having gone through their midst, and so passed by.
59 Kal i na tondiyaŋ sambu ka ba k'a catu, amma Yesu na nga boŋ tugu ka fatta Irikoy windo ra.
59They took up stones therefore to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple.
