2

1Then Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God, out of the fish’s belly.
1 Rabbi mo na teeku ham beeri fo soola kaŋ ga Yonana gon. Yonana goro mo teeku hamo gunda ra cin hinza da zaari hinza.
1Then Jonah prayed unto Jehovah his God out of the fish's belly.
2He said, “I called because of my affliction to Yahweh. He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried. You heard my voice.
2 Gaa no Yonana na adduwa te ka Rabbi nga Irikoyo ŋwaaray, noodin teeku hamo gunda ra.
2And he said, I called by reason of mine affliction unto Jehovah, And he answered me; Out of the belly of Sheol cried I, [And] thou heardest my voice.
3For you threw me into the depths, in the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.
3 A ne: «Ay gurzuga sabbay se no ay na Rabbi ce, A tu ay se mo.
3For thou didst cast me into the depth, in the heart of the seas, And the flood was round about me; All thy waves and thy billows passed over me.
4I said, ‘I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’
4And I said, I am cast out from before thine eyes; Yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
5The waters surrounded me, even to the soul. The deep was around me. The weeds were wrapped around my head.
5The waters compassed me about, even to the soul; The deep was round about me; The weeds were wrapped about my head.
6I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth barred me in forever: yet have you brought up my life from the pit, Yahweh my God.
6 Harey n'ay windi, hal ay fundo gaa. Hari guusuyaŋo go g'ay windi, Subuyaŋ go ga didiji ay boŋo gaa.
6I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; The earth with its bars [closed] upon me for ever: Yet hast thou brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God.
7“When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Yahweh. My prayer came in to you, into your holy temple.
7When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Jehovah; And my prayer came in unto thee, into thy holy temple.
8Those who regard lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
8They that regard lying vanities Forsake their own mercy.
9But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Yahweh.”
9But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation is of Jehovah.
10Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land.
10 Amma ay wo, saabuyaŋ jinde no ay ga sargay te d'a ni se. Haŋ kaŋ ay na sarti sambu ni se d'a mo, ay g'a bana. Faaba ya Rabbi wane no!»
10And Jehovah spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
11 Kala Rabbi salaŋ teeku hamo se. Nga mo na Yonana yeeri jabo gaa.
