1The word of Yahweh came to Jonah the second time, saying,

1And the word of Jehovah came unto Jonah the second time, saying,
2“Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I give you.”
2 «Tun ka koy Ninawiya kwaara, gallu beero din do. Ma waazu a se haŋ kaŋ ay na ni lordi nd'a.»
2Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.
3So Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh, according to the word of Yahweh. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, three days’ journey across.
3 Yonana binde tun ka koy Ninawiya Rabbi sanno boŋ. Ninawiya wo mo, gallu bambata no gumo, zaari hinza diraw wane.
3So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of Jehovah. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city, of three days' journey.
4Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried out, and said, “In forty days, Nineveh will be overthrown!”
4 Yonana mo sintin ka furo gallo ra zaari fo diraw. A na nga jinda tunandi mo ka ne: «Jirbi waytaaci no ka cindi hal i ga Ninawiya tuusu!»
4And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
5The people of Nineveh believed God; and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from their greatest even to their least.
5 Ninawiya borey mo na Irikoy cimandi, i na mehaw fe ka bufu zaara haw, za ibeerey ka koy ikayney gaa.
5And the people of Nineveh believed God; and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
6The news reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and took off his royal robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

7He made a proclamation and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, “Let neither man nor animal, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not feed, nor drink water;

7And he made proclamation and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not feed, nor drink water;
8but let them be covered with sackcloth, both man and animal, and let them cry mightily to God. Yes, let them turn everyone from his evil way, and from the violence that is in his hands.

9Who knows whether God will not turn and relent, and turn away from his fierce anger, so that we might not perish?”
9 Zama may no ga bay hala Irikoy ga bare ka ba ye koyne, a ma fay da nga futay korna, iri ma si halaci mo?»
9Who knoweth whether God will not turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?
10God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. God relented of the disaster which he said he would do to them, and he didn’t do it.
