Judges

3

1Now these are the nations which Yahweh left, to prove Israel by them, even as many as had not known all the wars of Canaan;
1 Dumey kaŋ yaŋ Rabbi naŋ zama nga ma du ka Israyla si i do, ngey neeya: sanda Israyla izey kaŋ si Kanaana wongo kulu bay.
1Now these are the nations which Jehovah left, to prove Israel by them, even as many [of Israel] as had not known all the wars of Canaan;
2only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing of it:
2 Sabaabu folloŋ ga ti i ma Israyla izey banda dondonandi wongu, sanku fa borey kaŋ yaŋ mana wongu muraadu kulu bay jina.
2only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as beforetime knew nothing thereof:
3the five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites who lived on Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal Hermon to the entrance of Hamath.
3 Dumey kaŋ yaŋ i naŋ neeya: Filistancey bonkooni gu, da Kanaanancey kulu, da Zidonancey, da Hibancey kaŋ yaŋ goono ga goro Liban tondo ra za Baal-Hermon tondo gaa kala a ma koy Hamat furanta.
3[namely], the five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baal-hermon unto the entrance of Hamath.
4They were left to test Israel by them, to know whether they would listen to the commandments of Yahweh, which he commanded their fathers by Moses.
4 Rabbi na woodin yaŋ naŋ zama nga ma Israyla si i do, a ma bay hala Israyla ga Rabbi lordey gana, kaŋ yaŋ a n'i kaayey lordi nd'a Musa kambe ra.
4And they were [left], to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of Jehovah, which he commanded their fathers by Moses.
5The children of Israel lived among the Canaanites, the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites:
5 Israyla izey binde goro Kanaanancey game ra, da Hittancey, da Amorancey, da Perizancey, da Hibancey, da Yebusancey.
5And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites:
6and they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their own daughters to their sons and served their gods.
6 Israyla izey na dumey din ize wayey hiiji. Dumey din mo na Israyla ize wayey hiiji. Israyla may i toorey se mo.
6and they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their own daughters to their sons and served their gods.
7The children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and forgot Yahweh their God, and served the Baals and the Asheroth.
7 Israyla izey na goy laalo te Rabbi diyaŋ gaa; i dinya Rabbi ngey Irikoyo gaa. I may Baalyaŋ da wayboro himandi bundu tooruyaŋ se.
7And the children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and forgat Jehovah their God, and served the Baalim and the Asheroth.
8Therefore the anger of Yahweh was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Cushan Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Cushan Rishathaim eight years.
8 Woodin se no Rabbi futa koroŋ Israyla boŋ. Nga mo n'i neera Kusan-Risatayim kambe ra, Mesopotamiya bonkooni no. Israyla izey may mo Kusan-Risatayim se jiiri ahakku.
8Therefore the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Cushan-rishathaim eight years.
9When the children of Israel cried to Yahweh, Yahweh raised up a savior to the children of Israel, who saved them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.
9 Waato kaŋ cine Israyla izey hẽ Rabbi gaa, Rabbi na faabako tunandi Israyla izey se, kaŋ n'i faaba. Nga no ga ti Otniyel, Kaleb kayne Kenaz izo.
9And when the children of Israel cried unto Jehovah, Jehovah raised up a saviour to the children of Israel, who saved them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.
10The Spirit of Yahweh came on him, and he judged Israel; and he went out to war, and Yahweh delivered Cushan Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand: and his hand prevailed against Cushan Rishathaim.
10 Rabbi Biya zumbu a boŋ, a na Israyla izey may mo. A koy ka wongu mo. Rabbi mo na Kusan-Risatayim kaŋ ti Mesopotamiya bonkoono daŋ Otniyel kambe ra; a kamba te zaama Kusan-Risatayim boŋ.
10And the Spirit of Jehovah came upon him, and he judged Israel; and he went out to war, and Jehovah delivered Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand: and his hand prevailed against Cushan-rishathaim.
11The land had rest forty years. Othniel the son of Kenaz died.
11 Hala laabo mo du ka fulanzam jiiri waytaaci. Otniyel, Kenaz izo kaa ka bu mo.
11And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.
12The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh: and Yahweh strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh.
12 Israyla izey ye ka goy laalo te Rabbi diyaŋ gaa. Rabbi mo na Eglon, Mowab bonkoono gaabandi hal a ma hin ka gaaba nda Israyla, zama i na goy laalo te Rabbi diyaŋ gaa.
12And the children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah: and Jehovah strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah.
13He gathered to him the children of Ammon and Amalek; and he went and struck Israel, and they possessed the city of palm trees.
13 A na Amon izey da Amalek margu nga do. A koy mo ka Israyla kar, i na teenay nyaŋey birno ŋwa mo.
13And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek; and he went and smote Israel, and they possessed the city of palm-trees.
14The children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.
14 Israyla izey may Mowab bonkoono Eglon se kala jiiri way cindi ahakku.
14And the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.
15But when the children of Israel cried to Yahweh, Yahweh raised them up a savior, Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjamite, a man left-handed. The children of Israel sent tribute by him to Eglon the king of Moab.
15 Amma waato kaŋ Israyla izey hẽ Rabbi gaa, Rabbi na faabako tunandi i se, kaŋ ci Gera izo Ehud, Benyamin boro, kambu wow koy no. Israyla izey n'a donton da nooyaŋ a ma kond'a Mowab bonkoono Eglon do.
15But when the children of Israel cried unto Jehovah, Jehovah raised them up a saviour, Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjamite, a man left-handed. And the children of Israel sent tribute by him unto Eglon the king of Moab.
16Ehud made him a sword which had two edges, a cubit in length; and he wore it under his clothing on his right thigh.
16 Ehud na nga takuba kaano fo te, kaŋ a kuuyaŋ ga saba nda kambe kar fo cine. A na takuba koto nga kwaay ra nga kambe ŋwaari tanja gaa haray.
16And Ehud made him a sword which had two edges, a cubit in length; and he girded it under his raiment upon his right thigh.
17He offered the tribute to Eglon king of Moab: now Eglon was a very fat man.
17 A na nooyaŋo salle Mowab bonkoono Eglon kambe ra. Eglon mo boro no kaŋ ga warga gumo.
17And he offered the tribute unto Eglon king of Moab: now Eglon was a very fat man.
18When he had made an end of offering the tribute, he sent away the people who bore the tribute.
18 Waato kaŋ a na nooyaŋey salle ka ban, Ehud na borey kaŋ yaŋ na fooyaŋ haro jare din sallama.
18And when he had made an end of offering the tribute, he sent away the people that bare the tribute.
19But he himself turned back from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, “I have a secret errand to you, king.” The king said, “Keep silence!” All who stood by him went out from him.
Borey kulu kaŋ yaŋ go no a do ga kay fatta k'a naŋ.
19But he himself turned back from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king. And he said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.
20Ehud came to him; and he was sitting by himself alone in the cool upper room. Ehud said, “I have a message from God to you.” He arose out of his seat.
20 Ehud kaa bonkoono do. Nga wo go ga goro nga fu boŋ cinari yeeno ra, nga hinne. Gaa no Ehud ne: «Ay gonda Irikoy sanni fo ni se.» Bonkoono mo tun nga nangora ra.
20And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting by himself alone in the cool upper room. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat.
21Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the sword from his right thigh, and thrust it into his body:
21 Ehud binde na nga kambe wow salle ka takuba foobu nga kambe ŋwaari tanja gaa haray ka bonkoono zorme nd'a gunda ra.
21And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the sword from his right thigh, and thrust it into his body:
22and the handle also went in after the blade; and the fat closed on the blade, for he didn’t draw the sword out of his body; and it came out behind.
22 Takuba boŋo mo na takuba izo gana. Maano mo didiji guuro gaa, zama Ehud mana takuba dagu k'a kaa gunda ra bo, zama a na teelo fun.
22and the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, for he drew not the sword out of his body; and it came out behind.
23Then Ehud went forth into the porch, and shut the doors of the upper room on him, and locked them.
23 Waato din gaa no Ehud fun ka koy cinaro batama ra. Kaŋ a na cinaro meyey daabu bonkoono boŋ, a n'i haw nga banda.
23Then Ehud went forth into the porch, and shut the doors of the upper room upon him, and locked them.
24Now when he was gone out, his servants came; and they saw, and behold, the doors of the upper room were locked; and they said, “Surely he is covering his feet in the upper room.”
24 Saaya kaŋ cine a fatta, bonkoono bannyey kokor ka kaa. I di, a go mo, cinaro meyey kulu go daabante. I ne: «Haciika bonkoono goono ga hari mun no nga jidan bisa ra.»
24Now when he was gone out, his servants came; and they saw, and, behold, the doors of the upper room were locked; and they said, Surely he is covering his feet in the upper chamber.
25They waited until they were ashamed; and behold, he didn’t open the doors of the upper room: therefore they took the key, and opened them, and behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.
25 I di ka kay hala naŋ kaŋ haawi n'i di. A go mo, bonkoono mana jidan bisa meyey fiti. Woodin se binde i na feeriyaŋ hari sambu ka koy ka fiti. A go mo, i di ngey koyo go ga furu ganda buuko.
25And they tarried till they were ashamed; and, behold, he opened not the doors of the upper room: therefore they took the key, and opened [them], and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.
26Ehud escaped while they waited, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped to Seirah.
26 I gayyaŋo sabbay se, kala Ehud du ka yana. A bisa jabuyaŋ himandey do, a n'i yana kal a koy hala Seyira.
26And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirah.
27It happened, when he had come, that he blew a trumpet in the hill country of Ephraim; and the children of Israel went down with him from the hill country, and he before them.
27 Saaya kaŋ cine a kaa binde, a na hilli kar Ifraymu tondey laabo ra. Israyla izey binde kaa a banda ka fun tondey laabo ra, nga din mo go i jine.
27And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the hill-country of Ephraim; and the children of Israel went down with him from the hill-country, and he before them.
28He said to them, “Follow me; for Yahweh has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand.” They followed him, and took the fords of the Jordan against the Moabites, and didn’t allow any man to pass over.
28 A ne i se: «W'ay gana, zama Rabbi n'araŋ ibare Mowabancey daŋ araŋ kambe ra.» Ngey mo n'a gana. A na Urdun yawyaŋ nangey ta Mowabancey gaa; i mana yadda baa boro folloŋ ma daŋandi.
28And he said unto them, Follow after me; for Jehovah hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of the Jordan against the Moabites, and suffered not a man to pass over.
29They struck of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, every lusty man, and every man of valor; and there escaped not a man.
29 I na Mowabancey wi saaya din ra, danga boro zambar way cine. I kulu mo alboro timmante yaŋ, sooje yaarukom koonu yaŋ no. Boro folloŋ mana cindi kaŋ du ka yana.
29And they smote of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, every lusty man, and every man of valor; and there escaped not a man.
30So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. The land had rest eighty years.
30 Yaadin cine no Mowab ye d'a Israyla mayray cire zaari woodin ra. Laabo binde du fulanzamay jiiri wahakku.
30So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years.
31After him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who struck of the Philistines six hundred men with an oxgoad: and he also saved Israel.
31 A banda mo no Samgar, Anat izo tun, nga kaŋ na Filistance boro zangu iddu wi da haw mimi; nga mo na Israyla faaba.
31And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who smote of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox-goad: and he also saved Israel.
