Lamentations

4

1How the gold has become dim! The most pure gold has changed! The stones of the sanctuary are poured out at the head of every street.
1 Kaari! Wura ciya ibi. Wura kaŋ hanan d'i kulu barmay. I na nangu hananta tondey gusam fondey gaarey kulu ra.
1How is the gold become dim! [how] is the most pure gold changed! The stones of the sanctuary are poured out at the head of every street.
2The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, How are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!
2 Sihiyona ize darzantey kaŋ waato i darza ga saba nda wura hansante, A go, i n'i himandi sanda botogo foobuyaŋ, Kusu cinako kambe goy.
2The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, How are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!
3Even the jackals draw out the breast, they nurse their young ones: The daughter of my people has become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.
3 Baa zoŋey ga ngey fafa no, I ga ngey izey naanandi, Amma ay jama ize wayo te bine-bi sanda saajo ra taatagayey cine.
3Even the jackals draw out the breast, they give suck to their young ones: The daughter of my people is become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.
4The tongue of the nursing child clings to the roof of his mouth for thirst: The young children ask bread, and no man breaks it to them.
4 Attaciriya kaŋ go ga naan, A deena go ga naagu a daana gaa jaw maayaŋ sabbay se. Zankey go ga ŋwaari ŋwaaray, Amma boro kulu si zaban i se.
4The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: The young children ask bread, and no man breaketh it unto them.
5Those who fed delicately are desolate in the streets: Those who were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills.
5 Borey kaŋ waato i ga ndunnya kaani maayaŋ ŋwaari ŋwa, Sohõ i go ga halaci fondey boŋ. Ngey mo kaŋ i biiri sanda bonkooni izeyaŋ, Sohõ i go ga fisi begunu ganday.
5They that did feed delicately are desolate in the streets: They that were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills.
6For the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the sin of Sodom, That was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands were laid on her.
6 Zama ay jama ize wayo taalo alhakko bisa Saduma* zunubo alhakko, Kwaara kaŋ i zeeri fap! folloŋ! Baa kaŋ boro kulu mana kambe dake a gaa.
6For the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the sin of Sodom, That was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands were laid upon her.
7Her nobles were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk; They were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was as of sapphire.
7 A boro beerey bisa neezu* hanan yaŋ, I bisa wa gani kwaaray yaŋ mo. I gaahamey bisa koral* ciray yaŋ caw, I n'i ziiri sanda safir* tondiyaŋ.
7Her nobles were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk; They were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was as of sapphire.
8Their appearance is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: Their skin clings to their bones; it is withered, it has become like a stick.
8 Amma sohõ i alhaaley bi da kusu banda, Boro si baa i bay fondey gaa. I kuurey sukum ka naagu i biriyey gaa, A koogu sanda bundu cine.
8Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: Their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick.
9Those who are killed with the sword are better than those who are killed with hunger; For these pine away, stricken through, for want of the fruits of the field.
9 Boro ma bu nda takuba baa a ma bu da haray. Hara g'a kombandi, a ga komso mo fari nafa-jaŋay sabbay se.
9They that are slain with the sword are better than they that are slain with hunger; For these pine away, stricken through, for want of the fruits of the field.
10The hands of the pitiful women have boiled their own children; They were their food in the destruction of the daughter of my people.
10 Wayborey kaŋ biney ga baan, I kambey no ka ngey izey hina. I ciya i se ŋwaari ay jama ize wayo halaciyaŋo ra.
10The hands of the pitiful women have boiled their own children; They were their food in the destruction of the daughter of my people.
11Yahweh has accomplished his wrath, he has poured out his fierce anger; He has kindled a fire in Zion, which has devoured its foundations.
11 Rabbi na nga dukuro toonandi, A na nga futay korna gusam. A na danji daŋ Sihiyona gaa kaŋ n'a ton kal a tiksa gaa.
11Jehovah hath accomplished his wrath, he hath poured out his fierce anger; And he hath kindled a fire in Zion, which hath devoured the foundations thereof.
12The kings of the earth didn’t believe, neither all the inhabitants of the world, That the adversary and the enemy would enter into the gates of Jerusalem.
12 Ndunnya bonkooney da ndunnya gorokoy kulu mo, doŋ i si ta hal a ga hin ka te yanjekaari nda ibare ma furo Urusalima* meyey ra.
12The kings of the earth believed not, neither all the inhabitants of the world, That the adversary and the enemy would enter into the gates of Jerusalem.
13It is because of the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, That have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her.
13 Amma woodin te a annabey zunubey sabbay se, D'a alfagey goy laaley sabbay se, Ngey kaŋ na adilanteyaŋ kuri mun gallo ra.
13[It is] because of the sins of her prophets, [and] the iniquities of her priests, That have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her.
14They wander as blind men in the streets, they are polluted with blood, So that men can’t touch their garments.
14 Sohõ i goono ga dira ka tatanji kwaara fondey ra sanda danawyaŋ. Kuri n'i ziibandi hal a to naŋ kaŋ boro kulu s'i bankaarayey ham.
14They wander as blind men in the streets, they are polluted with blood, So that men cannot touch their garments.
15Depart! they cried to them, Unclean! depart, depart, don’t touch! When they fled away and wandered, men said among the nations, They shall not live here any more.
15 Borey wurru i gaa ka ne i se: «Ya araŋ ziibikoyey, wa tun, wa koy! Wa tun ka koy, wa si lamba iri gaa!» Ngey mo zuru, i soobay ka dira ka tatanji. Dumi cindey ra borey goono ga ne: «I si ye ka goro noodin koyne.»
15Depart ye, they cried unto them, Unclean! depart, depart, touch not! When they fled away and wandered, men said among the nations, They shall no more sojourn [here].
16The anger of Yahweh has scattered them; he will no more regard them: They didn’t respect the persons of the priests, they didn’t favor the elders.
16 Rabbi futa n'i say-say, A si ye k'i saal koyne. Borey baa si da alfagey beera, I mana gomni te arkusey se mo.
16The anger of Jehovah hath scattered them; he will no more regard them: They respected not the persons of the priests, they favored not the elders.
17Our eyes still fail, looking in vain for our help: In our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save.
17 Iri wo, iri moy gaze, Zama gaakasinay kaŋ iri hangan ya yaamo no. Iri na mo daaru ka guna hala ndunnya dumi go no -- amma a si hin ka faaba te.
17Our eyes do yet fail [in looking] for our vain help: In our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save.
18They hunt our steps, so that we can’t go in our streets: Our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end has come.
18 I goono ga iri ce daarey gana, Kal iri si hin ka baa furo iri kwaarey fondey ra. Iri bananta maan, iri jirbey kubay, iri kokora kaa.
18They hunt our steps, so that we cannot go in our streets: Our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come.
19Our pursuers were swifter than the eagles of the sky: They chased us on the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.
19 Iri gaaraykoy waasu nda zeeban kaŋ ga deesi beene. I n'iri kankam da gaarayyaŋ tondi kuukey boŋ, I na gumandiyaŋ te iri se mo saajey ra.
19Our pursuers were swifter than the eagles of the heavens: They chased us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.
20The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of Yahweh, was taken in their pits; Of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the nations.
20 Iri niiney ra funsuyaŋo, Kaŋ ga ti Rabbi wane suubananta, Nga kaŋ iri ne a biyo cire no iri ga goro dumi cindey ra, I n'a di ngey guusu hirrimo ra.
20The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of Jehovah, was taken in their pits; Of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the nations.
21Rejoice and be glad, daughter of Edom, that dwell in the land of Uz: The cup shall pass through to you also; you shall be drunken, and shall make yourself naked.
21 Ya nin, Edom ize wayo, ni ma farhã. Nin kaŋ goono ga goro Uz laabo ra, ma te bine kaani. Amma haŋ-gaasiya din ga bisa kal a ma koy ni do. Ni mo ga haŋ ka bugu, ka ni boŋ kaa koonu.
21Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz: The cup shall pass through unto thee also; thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.
22The punishment of your iniquity is accomplished, daughter of Zion; he will no more carry you away into captivity: He will visit your iniquity, daughter of Edom; he will uncover your sins.
22The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: He will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will uncover thy sins.
