11

1A false balance is an abomination to Yahweh, but accurate weights are his delight.

1A false balance is an abomination to Jehovah; But a just weight is his delight.
2When pride comes, then comes shame, but with humility comes wisdom.

2When pride cometh, then cometh shame; But with the lowly is wisdom.
3The integrity of the upright shall guide them, but the perverseness of the treacherous shall destroy them.

4Riches don’t profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.

4Riches profit not in the day of wrath; But righteousness delivereth from death.
5The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way, but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

5The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way; But the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
6The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them, but the unfaithful will be trapped by evil desires.

6The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them; But the treacherous shall be taken in their own iniquity.
7When a wicked man dies, hope perishes, and expectation of power comes to nothing.

7When a wicked man dieth, [his] expectation shall perish; And the hope of iniquity perisheth.
8A righteous person is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked takes his place.

8The righteous is delivered out of trouble, And the wicked cometh in his stead.
9With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, but the righteous will be delivered through knowledge.
9 Me no Irikoy wanga ga nga gorokasin halaci nd'a, Amma bayray do no adilante ga du faaba.
9With his mouth the godless man destroyeth his neighbor; But through knowledge shall the righteous be delivered.
10When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices. When the wicked perish, there is shouting.
10 Waati kaŋ adilante ga te albarka, kwaara ga farhã. Waati kaŋ boro laaley ga halaci no, borey ga cilili.
10When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth; And when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
11By the blessing of the upright, the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

12One who despises his neighbor is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding holds his peace.

12He that despiseth his neighbor is void of wisdom; But a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
13One who brings gossip betrays a confidence, but one who is of a trustworthy spirit is one who keeps a secret.
13 Boro kaŋ ga bar-bare nda mimanda, Gundu no a ga kaa taray, Amma boro kaŋ gonda naanay nga biya ra ga hari tugu.
13He that goeth about as a tale-bearer revealeth secrets; But he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth a matter.
14Where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is victory.
14 Naŋ kaŋ laakal saaware si no, talkey ga kaŋ, Amma saawarekoy jama ra, zaama teeyaŋ go no.
14Where no wise guidance is, the people falleth; But in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
15He who is collateral for a stranger will suffer for it, but he who refuses pledges of collateral is secure.
15 Boro kaŋ na yaw yadda sambu ga maa a doori gumo, Amma boro kaŋ wongu k'a yadda sambu fulanzam.
15He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it; But he that hateth suretyship is secure.
16A gracious woman obtains honor, but violent men obtain riches.
16 Wayboro gomnikoy ga du beeray. Toonyekoyey mo ga du arzaka.
16A gracious woman obtaineth honor; And violent men obtain riches.
17The merciful man does good to his own soul, but he who is cruel troubles his own flesh.
17 Suujikoy goono ga gomni te nga fundo se, Amma bine-bi-koy, nga gaahamo no a ga taabandi.
17The merciful man doeth good to his own soul; But he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.
18Wicked people earn deceitful wages, but one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
18 Boro laalo ga gulinci alhakku ŋwa, Amma bora kaŋ na adilitaray duma wo, A banando ga tabbat.
18The wicked earneth deceitful wages; But he that soweth righteousness [hath] a sure reward.
19He who is truly righteous gets life. He who pursues evil gets death.
19 Boro kaŋ suuru adilitaray ra ga to fundi gaa. Laala ganako mo, nga boŋ buuyaŋ no a goono ga gana.
19He that is stedfast in righteousness [shall attain] unto life; And he that pursueth evil [doeth it] to his own death.
20Those who are perverse in heart are an abomination to Yahweh, but those whose ways are blameless are his delight.
20 Bine ra hattayankoyey ya fanta hariyaŋ no Rabbi se, Amma borey kaŋ yaŋ ga ti cimi teekoy ngey fondey ra, A kaani maayaŋ hariyaŋ no.
20They that are perverse in heart are an abomination to Jehovah; But such as are perfect in [their] way are his delight.
21Most certainly, the evil man will not be unpunished, but the seed of the righteous will be delivered.
21 Baa i ga kambe daŋ care kambe ra, Boro laalo si jaŋ ka du nga alhakko, Amma adilante dumo ga du faaba.
21[Though] hand [join] in hand, the evil man shall not be unpunished; But the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
22Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout, is a beautiful woman who lacks discretion.
22 Danga wura korbay gursuna* niine gaa, Yaadin no wayboro sogo kaŋ sinda fayanka.
22[As] a ring of gold in a swine's snout, [So is] a fair woman that is without discretion.
23The desire of the righteous is only good. The expectation of the wicked is wrath.
23 Adilante beeja ga ti booriyaŋ hinne no, Amma boro laalo beeja ya futay no.
23The desire of the righteous is only good; [But] the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24There is one who scatters, and increases yet more. There is one who withholds more than is appropriate, but gains poverty.
24 Boro kaŋ ga say-say go no, a ga tonton mo ka koy jina. Boro kaŋ ga wangu nda haŋ kaŋ ga hagu go no mo, Amma a si kande hay kulu kala talkataray.
24There is that scattereth, and increaseth yet more; And there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but [it tendeth] only to want.
25The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself.
25 Boro kaŋ ga gomni te ga te maani. Hari nooko mo, nga bumbo i g'a no hari.

26People curse someone who withholds grain, but blessing will be on the head of him who sells it.
26 Boro kaŋ na ntaasu ganji, talkey g'a laali, Amma albarka ga goro boro kaŋ n'a neera boŋ.
26He that withholdeth grain, the people shall curse him; But blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
27He who diligently seeks good seeks favor, but he who searches after evil, it shall come to him.
27 Nga kaŋ na booriyaŋ ceeci nda kookari, Gaakuri no a goono ga ceeci, Amma boro kaŋ ga hasaraw ceeci, Hasaraw no ga kaa a gaa.
27He that diligently seeketh good seeketh favor; But he that searcheth after evil, it shall come unto him.
28He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf.
28 Boro kaŋ jeeri nga duura gaa ga kaŋ, Amma adilante ga zaada danga kobto tayo.
28He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; But the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf.
29He who troubles his own house shall inherit the wind. The foolish shall be servant to the wise of heart.
29 Boro kaŋ ga nga bumbo windo taabandi, Haw faaruyaŋ no a ga tubu. Saamo mo ga ciya bannya bine-laakalkooni-koy se.
29He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind; And the foolish shall be servant to the wise of heart.
30The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life. He who is wise wins souls.
30 Adilante albarka ya fundi tuuri no. Boro kaŋ ga borey fundey daŋ faaba fonda ra ya laakalkooni no.
30The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; And he that is wise winneth souls.
31Behold, the righteous shall be repaid in the earth; how much more the wicked and the sinner!
31 A go, i ga adilante bana za ndunnya ra, Sanku fa binde boro laaley da zunubikooney!
31Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: How much more the wicked and the sinner!
