Proverbs

15

1A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
1 Sanni yeyaŋ baano ga futay bare, Amma sanni waaso ga futay tunandi.
1A soft answer turneth away wrath; But a grievous word stirreth up anger.
2The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of fools gush out folly.
2 Laakalkooni deena ga bayray hanno ci, Amma saamey me ga saamotaray gusam.
2The tongue of the wise uttereth knowledge aright; But the mouth of fools poureth out folly.
3Yahweh’s eyes are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good.
3 Rabbi moy go nangu kulu, I ga ihanney nda ilaaley kulu guna.
3The eyes of Jehovah are in every place, Keeping watch upon the evil and the good.
4A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but deceit in it crushes the spirit.
4 Deene baanikom ya fundi tuuri no, Amma wo kaŋ siiri ya bine funyaŋ hari no.
4A gentle tongue is a tree of life; But perverseness therein is a breaking of the spirit.
5A fool despises his father’s correction, but he who heeds reproof shows prudence.
5 Saamo ga donda nga baabo goojiyaŋ, Amma boro kaŋ na mo ye kaseetiyaŋ gaa ga du laakal.
5A fool despiseth his father's correction; But he that regardeth reproof getteth prudence.
6In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but the income of the wicked brings trouble.
6 Adilante windi ra, arzaka boobo go no, Amma boro laalo duure ra, kala laakal tunay.
6In the house of the righteous is much treasure; But in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
7The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so with the heart of fools.
7 Laakalkooney meyey ga bayray say-say, Amma saamey biney wo manti yaadin no.
7The lips of the wise disperse knowledge; But the heart of the foolish [doeth] not so.
8The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to Yahweh, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
8 Boro laalo sargay ya fanta hari no Rabbi se, Amma toonante adduwa ya a farhã hari no.
8The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But the prayer of the upright is his delight.
9The way of the wicked is an abomination to Yahweh, but he loves him who follows after righteousness.
9 Boro laalo fondo wo, fanta hari no Rabbi se, Amma boro kaŋ ga adilitaray gana, a ga ba r'a.
9The way of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
10There is stern discipline for one who forsakes the way: whoever hates reproof shall die.
10 Boro kaŋ na fondo taŋ, goojiyaŋ dungo ga kaa a gaa, Boro kaŋ wangu kaseetiyaŋ mo ga bu.
10There is grievous correction for him that forsaketh the way; [And] he that hateth reproof shall die.
11 Sheol and Abaddon are before Yahweh— how much more then the hearts of the children of men!
11 Alaahara nda Halaciyaŋ go Rabbi jine, Sanku fa binde Adam-izey biney.
11Sheol and Abaddon are before Jehovah: How much more then the hearts of the children of men!
12A scoffer doesn’t love to be reproved; he will not go to the wise.
12 Dondako si ba boro kaŋ ga deeni nga gaa. A si koy laakalkooney do mo.
12A scoffer loveth not to be reproved; He will not go unto the wise.
13A glad heart makes a cheerful face; but an aching heart breaks the spirit.
13 Bine kaŋ ga maa kaani ga moyduma farhandi, Amma bine saray do no, a bina ga fun.
13A glad heart maketh a cheerful countenance; But by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.
14The heart of one who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.
14 Boro kaŋ gonda laakal bina ga bayray ceeci, Amma saamey me ŋwaaro ya saamotaray no.
14The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge; But the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.
15All the days of the afflicted are wretched, but one who has a cheerful heart enjoys a continual feast.
15 Borey kaŋ yaŋ go taabi ra, i jirbey kulu gonda doori, Amma bine kaanikoy gonda batu duumi.
15All the days of the afflicted are evil; But he that is of a cheerful heart [hath] a continual feast.
16Better is little, with the fear of Yahweh, than great treasure with trouble.
16 Dambe kayna, nga nda Rabbi humburkumay, A ga bisa arzaka boobo kaŋ taabi go a banda.
16Better is little, with the fear of Jehovah, Than great treasure and trouble therewith.
17Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, than a fattened calf with hatred.
17 Dambe i ma kassi ŋwa naŋ kaŋ baakasinay go, D'i ma haw kaŋ i kuru ŋwa nda konnari a banda.
17Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, Than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
18A wrathful man stirs up contention, but one who is slow to anger appeases strife.
18 Boro kaŋ bine tunyaŋ ga baa ga kusuuma tunandi. Amma boro kaŋ ga suuru bine tunyaŋ se ga yanje kanandi.
18A wrathful man stirreth up contention; But he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
19The way of the sluggard is like a thorn patch, but the path of the upright is a highway.
19 Hawfuno fonda ga hima nda karji kosaray. Amma adilante fonda ga te dabe fondo.
19The way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns; But the path of the upright is made a highway.
20A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish man despises his mother.
20 Ize laakalkooni ga nga baaba bine kaanandi, Amma saamo ga donda nga nya.
20A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21Folly is joy to one who is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding keeps his way straight.
21 Saamotaray ya farhã hari no boro kaŋ jaŋ laakal se. Amma boro fahamante ga nga dirawey sasabandi no.
21Folly is joy to him that is void of wisdom; But a man of understanding maketh straight his going.
22Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established.
22 Naŋ kaŋ sinda saaware, miile-miiley ga feeri, Amma saawarekoy jama ra i ga tabbat no.
22Where there is no counsel, purposes are disappointed; But in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
23Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time!
23 Boro gonda farhã nga tuyaŋey ra, Sanni kaŋ ga hagu nga alwaati ra mo, Man a booriyaŋ misa!
23A man hath joy in the answer of his mouth; And a word in due season, how good is it!
24The path of life leads upward for the wise, to keep him from going downward to Sheol .
24 Laakalkooni se fundi fonda ga gana beene haray, Zama a ma fay da Alaahara ganda.
24To the wise the way of life [goeth] upward, That he may depart from Sheol beneath.
25Yahweh will uproot the house of the proud, but he will keep the widow’s borders intact.
25 Rabbi ga boŋbeeraykoy windi dagu, Amma a ga wayboro kaŋ kurnye bu hirro tabbatandi.
25Jehovah will root up the house of the proud; But he will establish the border of the widow.
26Yahweh detests the thoughts of the wicked, but the thoughts of the pure are pleasing.
26 Boro laaley dabarey ya fanta hari no Rabbi se, Amma sanni kaaney ga hanan.
26Evil devices are an abomination to Jehovah; But pleasant words [are] pure.
27He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.
27 Riiba binikom koy ga nga windo taabandi, Amma boro kaŋ wangu ka me-daabu ta ga funa.
27He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; But he that hateth bribes shall live.
28The heart of the righteous weighs answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes out evil.
28 Adilante bine ga lasaabu nda haŋ kaŋ nga ga tu, Amma boro laalo me ga hari laaley bambari.
28The heart of the righteous studieth to answer; But the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
29Yahweh is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
29 Rabbi ga mooru boro laaley, Amma a ga maa adilante adduwa.
29Jehovah is far from the wicked; But he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
30The light of the eyes rejoices the heart. Good news gives health to the bones.
30 Moyduma farhante ga naŋ bine ma maa kaani, Baaru hanno mo ga naŋ biri ma te londi.
30The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart; [And] good tidings make the bones fat.
31The ear that listens to reproof lives, and will be at home among the wise.
31 Hanga kaŋ ga hangan fundi kaseetiyaŋ se ga goro laakalkooney do.
31The ear that hearkeneth to the reproof of life Shall abide among the wise.
32He who refuses correction despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets understanding.
32 Boro kaŋ wangu dondonandiyaŋ, Nga bumbo fundo no a ga donda, Amma boro kaŋ hangan kaseetiyaŋ se ga du fahamay.
32He that refuseth correction despiseth his own soul; But he that hearkeneth to reproof getteth understanding.
33The fear of Yahweh teaches wisdom. Before honor is humility.
33 Rabbi humburkumay ya laakal dondonandiyaŋ no, Beeray mo ga lalabay gana.
33The fear of Jehovah is the instruction of wisdom; And before honor [goeth] humility.
