Proverbs

14

1Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.
1 Wayboro laakalkooni ga nga fuwo cina, Amma wayboro saamo ga nga wano zeeri nda nga kambey.
1Every wise woman buildeth her house; But the foolish plucketh it down with her own hands.
2He who walks in his uprightness fears Yahweh, but he who is perverse in his ways despises him.
2 Boro kaŋ ga dira nga adilitaray toonante ra ga humburu Rabbi, Amma boro kaŋ ga nga fonda siirandi ga dond'a no.
2He that walketh in his uprightness feareth Jehovah; But he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
3The fool’s talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.
3 Saamo me ra gonda sar'ize a boŋbeera sabbay se, Amma laakalkooney deeney g'i hallasi.
3In the mouth of the foolish is a rod for [his] pride; But the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
4Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
4 Nangu kaŋ sinda haw, i ŋwaari garba ga hanan, Amma yeeji gaabi do i ga te tontoni boobo.
4Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; But much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5A truthful witness will not lie, but a false witness pours out lies.
5 Seeda daahirante si tangari, Amma tangari seedakoy, kala tangari kaŋ a ga ci.
5A faithful witness will not lie; But a false witness uttereth lies.
6A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn’t find it, but knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.
6 Dondayankoy ga laakal ceeci, a si du a, Amma bayray wo, hari doogono no fahamante se.
6A scoffer seeketh wisdom, and [findeth it] not; But knowledge is easy unto him that hath understanding.
7Stay away from a foolish man, for you won’t find knowledge on his lips.
7 Ma fun boro kaŋ si caram do, Zama ni si bayray meyo gar a do.
7Go into the presence of a foolish man, And thou shalt not perceive [in him] the lips of knowledge.
8The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.
8 Haggoyyankoy laakalo ga ti a ma faham da nga fonda, Amma saamey saamotara ya gulinci no.
8The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way; But the folly of fools is deceit.
9Fools mock at making atonement for sins, but among the upright there is good will.
9 Saamey ga taali himandi hahaarayaŋ hari, Amma boro toonante do gomni miila go no.
9A trespass-offering mocketh fools; But among the upright there is good will.
10The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; he will not share these with a stranger.
10 Boro bine ga nga boŋ azaaba bay, A farhã mo, boro fo si maa r'a.
10The heart knoweth its own bitterness; And a stranger doth not intermeddle with its joy.
11The house of the wicked will be overthrown, but the tent of the upright will flourish.
11 I ga boro laaley windey bare ka gum, Amma adilantey bukkey ga te albarka.
11The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; But the tent of the upright shall flourish.
12There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

12There is a way which seemeth right unto a man; But the end thereof are the ways of death.
13Even in laughter the heart may be sorrowful, and mirth may end in heaviness.

13Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; And the end of mirth is heaviness.
14The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways.
14 Boro kaŋ ye da banda nga bina ra ga kungu nda nga fonda, Boro hanno mo nda haŋ kaŋ go a wano ra.
14The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways; And a good man [shall be satisfied] from himself.
15A simple man believes everything, but the prudent man carefully considers his ways.
15 Boro kaŋ sinda carmay ga sanni kulu cimandi, Amma laakalkooni ga haggoy nda nga te-goyey hala a ma boori.
15The simple believeth every word; But the prudent man looketh well to his going.
16A wise man fears, and shuns evil, but the fool is hotheaded and reckless.
16 Laakalkooni ga humburu, a ga fay da laala teeyaŋ mo, Amma saamo ga boŋ jare ka ne nga na hay kulu tabbatandi.
16A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil; But the fool beareth himself insolently, and is confident.
17He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, and a crafty man is hated.
17 Bine-waaso-koy ga saamotaray goy te. Boro kaŋ ga dabari laalo kaa taray mo, i ga konn'a.
17He that is soon angry will deal foolishly; And a man of wicked devices is hated.
18The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

19The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
19 Boro laaley ga aniya ka sumbal boro hanney jine, Zambantey mo yaadin cine no adilantey fu meyey gaa.
19The evil bow down before the good; And the wicked, at the gates of the righteous.
20The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbor, but the rich person has many friends.
20 Talka ya wangay hari no baa nga gorokasin se, Amma arzakante gonda baako boobo.
20The poor is hated even of his own neighbor; But the rich hath many friends.
21He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who has pity on the poor.
21 Boro kaŋ donda nga gorokasin, Zunubi no a goono ga te, Amma boro kaŋ ga bakar talkey se ya bine kaani koy no.
21He that despiseth his neighbor sinneth; But he that hath pity on the poor, happy is he.
22Don’t they go astray who plot evil? But love and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.
22 Goy laalo soolakoyey, manti i goono ga fondo taŋ no? Amma suuji nda cimi ga ciya gomni te-koy baa.
22Do they not err that devise evil? But mercy and truth [shall be to] them that devise good.
23In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.
23 Goy kulu ra gonda riiba, Amma me sanni hinne si kande kala talkataray.
23In all labor there is profit; But the talk of the lips [tendeth] only to penury.
24The crown of the wise is their riches, but the folly of fools crowns them with folly.
24 Laakalkooney boŋ taalam ga ti i arzaka, Amma saamey saamotara ya saamotaray hinne no.
24The crown of the wise is their riches; [But] the folly of fools is [only] folly.
25A truthful witness saves souls, but a false witness is deceitful.
25 Cimi seeda ciiko ga fundiyaŋ faaba, Amma tangari ciiko ga hiila candi.
25A true witness delivereth souls; But he that uttereth lies [causeth] deceit.
26In the fear of Yahweh is a secure fortress, and he will be a refuge for his children.
26 Rabbi humburkumay ra naanay gaabikooni go no. Bora din izey mo ga du tuguyaŋ do.
26In the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence; And his children shall have a place of refuge.
27The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, turning people from the snares of death.
27 Rabbi humburkumay ya fundi hari zuru mo yaŋ no, Kaŋ ga boro fay da buuyaŋ hirrimey.
27The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life, That one may depart from the snares of death.
28In the multitude of people is the king’s glory, but in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.
28 Bonkooni darza ga ti a jama baayaŋo, Amma boro jaŋay ga ti koy kayney halaciyaŋ.
28In the multitude of people is the king's glory; But in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.
29He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper displays folly.
29 Boro kaŋ ga suuru nda bine tunyaŋ gonda fahamay hanno, Amma boro bine-waaso-koy ga saamotaray beerandi.
29He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; But he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
30The life of the body is a heart at peace, but envy rots the bones.
30 Laakal kaanay ya fundi no gaaham se, Amma canse ya biri fumbi no.
30A tranquil heart is the life of the flesh; But envy is the rottenness of the bones.
31He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.
31 Boro kaŋ na alfukaaru toonye na nga Takakwa foy, Amma boro kaŋ na suuji cabe laamikoyey se goono g'a beerandi no.
31He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker; But he that hath mercy on the needy honoreth him.
32The wicked is brought down in his calamity, but in death, the righteous has a refuge.
32 I ga boro laalo zeeri nga goy laala ra, Amma adilante gonda tuguyaŋ do nga buuyaŋ hane.
32The wicked is thrust down in his evil-doing; But the righteous hath a refuge in his death.
33Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, and is even made known in the inward part of fools.
33 Laakal go ga nga goray te fahamante bina ra, Amma saamey game ra, a ga bangay.
33Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding; But [that which is] in the inward part of fools is made known.
34Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.
34 Adilitaray ga kunda beerandi, Amma zunubi ya haawi hari no dumi kulu se.
34Righteousness exalteth a nation; But sin is a reproach to any people.
35The king’s favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, but his wrath is toward one who causes shame.
35 Bonkooni gaakuri ga koy goy-ize kaŋ ga goy da laakal do haray, Amma a bine tunyaŋ ga zumbu boro kaŋ ga haawi goy te boŋ.
35The king's favor is toward a servant that dealeth wisely; But his wrath will be [against] him that causeth shame.
