Zechariah

11

1Open your doors, Lebanon, that the fire may devour your cedars.
1Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars.
2Wail, fir tree, for the cedar has fallen, because the stately ones are destroyed. Wail, you oaks of Bashan, for the strong forest has come down.
2Wail, O fir-tree, for the cedar is fallen, because the goodly ones are destroyed: wail, O ye oaks of Bashan, for the strong forest is come down.
3A voice of the wailing of the shepherds! For their glory is destroyed: a voice of the roaring of young lions! For the pride of the Jordan is ruined.
3 Hawjiyey kaatiyaŋ jinde go no! Zama i n'i darza halaci. Muusu daŋ futay dunduyaŋ jinde mo go no! Zama i na Urdun* tuuri zugey halaci.
3A voice of the wailing of the shepherds! for their glory is destroyed: a voice of the roaring of young lions! for the pride of the Jordan is laid waste.
4Thus says Yahweh my God: “Feed the flock of slaughter.
4 Yaa no Rabbi ay Irikoyo ci: Wa wiyaŋ kalo kuru.
4Thus said Jehovah my God: Feed the flock of slaughter;
5Their buyers slaughter them, and go unpunished. Those who sell them say, ‘Blessed be Yahweh, for I am rich;’ and their own shepherds don’t pity them.
5 I daykoy g'i wi, amma i si ngey boŋ himandi sanda i to alhakku.
5whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty; and they that sell them say, Blessed be Jehovah, for I am rich; and their own shepherds pity them not.
6For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land,” says Yahweh; “but, behold, I will deliver the men everyone into his neighbor’s hand, and into the hand of his king. They will strike the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them.”
Yaadin no Rabbi ci. Amma a go, ay ga boro fo kulu daŋ nga gorokasin kambe ra, d'a bonkoono kambe ra mo. I ga laabo kar, ay s'i faaba mo ngey karkoy kambe ra.
6For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, saith Jehovah; but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbor's hand, and into the hand of his king; and they shall smite the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them.
7So I fed the flock of slaughter, especially the oppressed of the flock. I took for myself two staffs. The one I called “Favor,” and the other I called “Union,” and I fed the flock.
7 Woodin se no ay na wiyaŋ kalo kuru, haciika mo feejiyaŋ kaŋ ga bakarandi no gumo. Kal ay na goobu hinka sambu. Ay n'afa maa daŋ Gomni, afa mo ay ne a se Hawyaŋ Hari. Ay mo na kalo kuru.
7So I fed the flock of slaughter, verily the poor of the flock. And I took unto me two staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock.
8I cut off the three shepherds in one month; for my soul was weary of them, and their soul also loathed me.
Ngey mo, i fundey goono g'ay fanta.
8And I cut off the three shepherds in one month; for my soul was weary of them, and their soul also loathed me.
9Then I said, “I will not feed you. That which dies, let it die; and that which is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let those who are left eat each other’s flesh.”
9 Gaa no ay ne kuro se: «Ay s'araŋ kuru. Haŋ kaŋ ga bu, a ma bu. Haŋ kaŋ ga daray, a ma daray. Ngey kaŋ ga cindi mo, i kulu ma care ham ŋwa.»
9Then said I, I will not feed you: that which dieth, let it die; and that which is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let them that are left eat every one the flesh of another.
10I took my staff Favor, and cut it apart, that I might break my covenant that I had made with all the peoples.
10And I took my staff Beauty, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the peoples.
11It was broken in that day; and thus the poor of the flock that listened to me knew that it was the word of Yahweh.
11 Za han din i n'a tunandi, woodin se no kalo feejey kaŋ ga bakarandi yaŋ din na laakal ye ay gaa, i bay kaŋ Rabbi sanni no.
11And it was broken in that day; and thus the poor of the flock that gave heed unto me knew that it was the word of Jehovah.
12I said to them, “If you think it best, give me my wages; and if not, keep them.” So they weighed for my wages thirty pieces of silver.
12 Ay ne i se koyne: «D'araŋ di daama, araŋ m'ay no ay sufuray nooro. D'araŋ mana di daama mo, w'ay ganj'a.» I na nzarfu noor'ize waranza neesi ay se, sufura wane me nooya.
12And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my hire; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my hire thirty [pieces] of silver.
13Yahweh said to me, “Throw it to the potter, the handsome price that I was valued at by them!” I took the thirty pieces of silver, and threw them to the potter, in the house of Yahweh.
13And Jehovah said unto me, Cast it unto the potter, the goodly price that I was prized at by them. And I took the thirty [pieces] of silver, and cast them unto the potter, in the house of Jehovah.
14Then I cut apart my other staff, even Union, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
14 Waato din gaa no ay n'ay goobu fa pati-pati, kaŋ ga ti Hawyaŋ Haro wane, zama ay ma nya-izetara kaŋ go Yahuda da Israyla game ra din feeri.
14Then I cut asunder mine other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
15Yahweh said to me, “Take for yourself yet again the equipment of a foolish shepherd.
15And Jehovah said unto me, Take unto thee yet again the instruments of a foolish shepherd.
16For, behold, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, who will not visit those who are cut off, neither will seek those who are scattered, nor heal that which is broken, nor feed that which is sound; but he will eat the flesh of the fat sheep, and will tear their hoofs in pieces.
16 Zama guna, ay ga hawji fo tunandi laabo ra kaŋ baa si nda darantey, a si wo kaŋ yaŋ say-say mo ceeci. A si ngey kaŋ ceeri saajaw hal i ma yay, a si baanikooney kuru mo, amma a ga inaasey hamey ŋwa. A m'i ce camsey dagu ka kaa.
16For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, who will not visit those that are cut off, neither will seek those that are scattered, nor heal that which is broken, nor feed that which is sound; but he will eat the flesh of the fat [sheep], and will tear their hoofs in pieces.
17Woe to the worthless shepherd who leaves the flock! The sword will be on his arm, and on his right eye. His arm will be completely withered, and his right eye will be totally blinded!”
17 Kaari hawji yaamo wo, kaŋ ga kalo naŋ! Takuba ma du a jase gaa, d'a kambe ŋwaari mwa gaa haray mo. A kamba ma suugu parkatak. A kambe ŋwaari mwa mo ma te kubay lip!
17Woe to the worthless shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.
