¹Then Zophar, the Naamathite, answered,

¹அப்பொழுது நாகமாத்தியனாகிய சோப்பார் பிரதியுத்தரமாக:

²“Shouldn’t the multitude of words be answered? Should a man full of talk be justified?

²ஏராளமான வார்த்தைகளுக்கு உத்தரவு சொல்லவேண்டாமோ? வாய்ச்சாலகன் நீதிமானாய் விளங்குவானோ?

³Should your boastings make men hold their peace? When you mock, shall no man make you ashamed?

³உம்முடைய வீம்புவார்த்தைகளுக்கு மனுஷர் மவுனமாயிருப்பார்களோ? நீர் பரியாசம்பண்ணும்போது, ஒருவரும் உம்மை வெட்கப்படுத்தவேண்டாமோ?

⁴For you say, ‘My doctrine is pure. I am clean in your eyes.’

⁴என் சொல் சுத்தம் என்றும், நான் தேவரீருடைய பார்வைக்குத் துப்புரவானவன் என்றும் நீர் சொல்லுகிறீர்.

⁵But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against you,

⁵ஆனாலும் தேவன் பேசி, உமக்கு விரோதமாய்த் தம்முடைய உதடுகளைத் திறந்து,

⁶that he would show you the secrets of wisdom! For true wisdom has two sides. Know therefore that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves.

⁶உமக்கு ஞானத்தின் இரகசியங்களை வெளிப்படுத்தினால் நலமாயிருக்கும்; உள்ளபடி பார்த்தால், அது இரட்டிப்புள்ளதாயிருக்கிறது; ஆகையால் உம்முடைய அக்கிரமத்திற்கேற்றபடி தேவன் உம்மைத் தண்டிக்கவில்லையென்று அறிந்துகொள்ளும்.

⁷“Can you fathom the mystery of God? Or can you probe the limits of the Almighty?

⁷தேவனுடைய அந்தரங்க ஞானத்தை நீர் ஆராய்ந்து, சர்வவல்லவருடைய சம்பூரணத்தை நீர் அறியக்கூடுமோ?

⁸They are high as heaven. What can you do? They are deeper than Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. . What can you know?

⁸அது வானபரியந்தம் உயர்ந்தது; உம்மால் என்ன ஆகும்? அது பாதாளத்திலும் ஆழமானது, நீர் அறியக்கூடியது என்ன?

⁹Its measure is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.

⁹அதின் அளவு பூமியைப்பார்க்கிலும் நீளமும், சமுத்திரத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும் அகலமுமாயிருக்கிறது.

¹⁰If he passes by, or confines, or convenes a court, then who can oppose him?

¹⁰அவர் பிடித்தாலும், அவர் அடைத்தாலும், அவர் நியாயத்தில் கொண்டுவந்து நிறுத்தினாலும், அவரைத் தடைபண்ணுகிறவன் யார்?

¹¹For he knows false men. He sees iniquity also, even though he doesn’t consider it.

¹¹மனுஷருடைய மாயத்தை அவர் அறிவார்; அக்கிரமத்தை அவர் கண்டும், அதைக் கவனியாதிருப்பாரோ?

¹²An empty-headed man becomes wise when a man is born as a wild donkey’s colt.

¹²புத்தியில்லாத மனுஷன் காட்டுக்கழுதைக்குட்டிக்கு ஒப்பாகப் பிறந்திருந்தாலும், பெருநெஞ்சுள்ளவனாயிருக்கிறான்.

¹³“If you set your heart aright, stretch out your hands toward him.

¹³நீர் உம்முடைய இருதயத்தை ஆயத்தப்படுத்தி, உம்முடைய கைகளை அவருக்கு நேராக விரித்தால் நலமாயிருக்கும்.

¹⁴If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away. Don’t let unrighteousness dwell in your tents.

¹⁴உம்முடைய கையிலே அக்கிரமம் இருந்தால், அதைத் தூரத்தில் அகற்றிவிட்டு, அநியாயம் உம்முடைய கூடாரங்களில் வாசமாயிருக்கவொட்டாதிரும்.

¹⁵Surely then you shall lift up your face without spot; Yes, you shall be steadfast, and shall not fear:

¹⁵அப்பொழுது உம்முடைய முகத்தை மாசில்லாமல் ஏறெடுத்து, பயப்படாமல் திடன்கொண்டிருப்பீர்.

¹⁶for you shall forget your misery. You shall remember it as waters that are passed away.

¹⁶அப்பொழுது நீர் வருத்தத்தை மறந்து, கடந்துபோன தண்ணீரைப்போல அதை நினைப்பீர்.

¹⁷Life shall be clearer than the noonday. Though there is darkness, it shall be as the morning.

¹⁷அப்பொழுது உம்முடைய ஆயுசுகாலம் பட்டப்பகலைப்பார்க்கிலும் பிரகாசமாயிருக்கும்; இருள் அடைந்த நீர் விடியற்காலத்தைப்போலிருப்பீர்.

¹⁸You shall be secure, because there is hope. Yes, you shall search, and shall take your rest in safety.

¹⁸நம்பிக்கை உண்டாயிருக்கிறதினால் திடனாயிருப்பீர்; தோண்டி ஆராய்ந்து சுகமாய்ப் படுத்துக்கொள்வீர்.

¹⁹Also you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid. Yes, many shall court your favor.

¹⁹பயப்படுத்துவாரில்லாமல் நித்திரை செய்வீர்; அநேகர் உமது முகத்தை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம் பண்ணுவார்கள்.

²⁰But the eyes of the wicked shall fail. They shall have no way to flee. Their hope shall be the giving up of the spirit.”

²⁰துன்மார்க்கருடைய கண்கள் பூத்துப்போய், அவர்கள் அடைக்கலம் அவர்களை விட்டொழிந்து, அவர்கள் நம்பிக்கை சாகிறவன் சுவாசம்போல் அழிந்துபோகும் என்றான்.
