¹Saul was consenting to his death. A great persecution arose against the assembly which was in Jerusalem in that day. They were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except for the apostles.

¹การที่เขาฆ่าสเทเฟนเสียนั้นเซาโลก็เห็นชอบด้วย คราวนั้นเกิดการข่มเหงคริสตจักรครั้งใหญ่ในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และศิษย์ทั้งปวงนอกจากพวกอัครสาวกได้กระจัดกระจายไปทั่วแว่นแคว้นยูเดียกับสะมาเรีย

²Devout men buried Stephen, and lamented greatly over him.

²ผู้ที่เกรงกลัวพระเจ้าก็ฝังศพสเทเฟนไว้ แล้วคร่ำครวญอาลัยถึงท่านอย่างยิ่ง

³But Saul ravaged the assembly, entering into every house, and dragged both men and women off to prison.

³ฝ่ายเซาโลพยายามทำลายคริสตจักร โดยเข้าไปฉุดลากชายหญิงจากทุกบ้านทุกเรือนเอาไปจำไว้ในคุก

⁴Therefore those who were scattered abroad went around preaching the word.

⁴ฉะนั้นฝ่ายศิษย์ทั้งหลายซึ่งกระจัดกระจายไปก็เที่ยวประกาศพระวจนะนั้น

⁵Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and proclaimed to them the Christ.

⁵ส่วนฟีลิปจึงลงไปยังเมืองสะมาเรียและประกาศเรื่องพระคริสต์ให้ชาวเมืองนั้นฟัง

⁶The multitudes listened with one accord to the things that were spoken by Philip, when they heard and saw the signs which he did.

⁶ประชาชนก็พร้อมใจกันฟังถ้อยคำที่ฟีลิปได้ประกาศ เพราะเขาได้ยินท่านพูด และได้เห็นการอัศจรรย์ซึ่งท่านได้กระทำนั้น

⁷For unclean spirits came out of many of those who had them. They came out, crying with a loud voice. Many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed.

⁷ด้วยว่าผีโสโครกที่สิงอยู่ในคนหลายคนได้พากันร้องด้วยเสียงดัง แล้วออกมาจากคนเหล่านั้น และคนที่เป็นโรคอัมพาตกับคนง่อยก็หายเป็นปกติ

⁸There was great joy in that city.

⁸จึงเกิดความปลื้มปีติอย่างยิ่งในเมืองนั้น

⁹But there was a certain man, Simon by name, who used to practice sorcery in the city, and amazed the people of Samaria, making himself out to be some great one,

⁹ยังมีชายคนหนึ่งชื่อซีโมนเคยทำเวทมนตร์ในเมืองนั้นมาก่อน และได้ทำให้ชาวสะมาเรียพิศวงหลงใหล เขายกตัวว่าเป็นผู้วิเศษ

¹⁰to whom they all listened, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is that great power of God.”

¹⁰ฝ่ายคนทั้งปวงทั้งผู้น้อยผู้ใหญ่ก็สนใจฟังคนนั้น แล้วว่า "ชายคนนี้เป็นมหิทธิฤทธิ์ของพระเจ้า"

¹¹They listened to him, because for a long time he had amazed them with his sorceries.

¹¹คนทั้งหลายนับถือเขา เพราะเขาได้ทำเวทมนตร์ให้คนทั้งหลายพิศวงหลงใหลมานานแล้ว

¹²But when they believed Philip preaching good news concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

¹²แต่เมื่อฟีลิปได้ประกาศเรื่องอาณาจักรของพระเจ้า และพระนามแห่งพระเยซูคริสต์แล้ว คนทั้งหลายก็เชื่อ และรับบัพติศมาทั้งชายและหญิง

¹³Simon himself also believed. Being baptized, he continued with Philip. Seeing signs and great miracles occurring, he was amazed.

¹³ฝ่ายซีโมนเองจึงเชื่อด้วย เมื่อรับบัพติศมาแล้วก็อยู่กับฟีลิปต่อไป และประหลาดใจที่เห็นการอัศจรรย์กับหมายสำคัญต่างๆซึ่งฟีลิปได้กระทำ

¹⁴Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,

¹⁴เมื่อพวกอัครสาวกซึ่งอยู่ในกรุงเยรูซาเล็มได้ยินว่า ชาวสะมาเรียได้รับพระวจนะของพระเจ้าแล้ว จึงให้เปโตรกับยอห์นไปหาเขา

¹⁵who, when they had come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit;

¹⁵ครั้นเปโตรกับยอห์นลงไปถึงก็อธิษฐานเผื่อเขา เพื่อให้เขาได้รับพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์

¹⁶for as yet he had fallen on none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of Christ Jesus.

¹⁶(ด้วยว่าพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ยังไม่ได้เสด็จลงมาสถิตกับผู้ใด เป็นแต่เขาได้รับบัพติศมาในพระนามแห่งพระเยซูเจ้าเท่านั้น)

¹⁷Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

¹⁷เปโตรกับยอห์นจึงวางมือบนเขา แล้วเขาทั้งหลายก็ได้รับพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์

¹⁸Now when Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money,

¹⁸เมื่อซีโมนเห็นว่า คนเหล่านั้นได้รับพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ด้วยการวางมือของอัครสาวก จึงนำเงินมาให้อัครสาวก

¹⁹saying, “Give me also this power, that whomever I lay my hands on may receive the Holy Spirit.”

¹⁹และว่า "ขอให้ข้าพเจ้ามีฤทธิ์อย่างนี้ด้วย เพื่อว่าเมื่อข้าพเจ้าจะวางมือบนผู้ใด ผู้นั้นจะได้รับพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์"

²⁰But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!

²⁰ฝ่ายเปโตรจึงกล่าวแก่ซีโมนว่า "ให้เงินของเจ้าพินาศไปด้วยกันกับเจ้าเถิด เพราะเจ้าคิดว่าจะซื้อของประทานแห่งพระเจ้าด้วยเงินได้

²¹You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart isn’t right before God.

²¹เจ้าไม่มีส่วนหรือส่วนแบ่งในการนี้เลย เพราะใจของเจ้าไม่ซื่อตรงในสายพระเนตรของพระเจ้า

²²Repent therefore of this, your wickedness, and ask God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.

²²เหตุฉะนั้น จงกลับใจใหม่จากการชั่วร้ายของเจ้านี้ และอธิษฐานขอพระเจ้าชะรอยพระองค์จะทรงโปรดยกความผิดซึ่งเจ้าคิดในใจของเจ้า

²³For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bondage of iniquity.”

²³ด้วยเราเห็นว่าเจ้าจะต้องรับความขมขื่นและติดพันธนะแห่งความชั่วช้า"

²⁴Simon answered, “Pray for me to the Lord, that none of the things which you have spoken happen to me.”

²⁴ฝ่ายซีโมนจึงตอบว่า "ขอท่านอธิษฐานต่อองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเผื่อข้าพเจ้าด้วย เพื่อเหตุการณ์ที่ท่านได้กล่าวแล้วนั้นจะไม่ได้อุบัติแก่ตัวข้าพเจ้าสักอย่างเดียว"

²⁵They therefore, when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the Good News to many villages of the Samaritans.

²⁵ครั้นพวกอัครสาวกเป็นพยานและประกาศพระวจนะขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าแล้ว ก็กลับไปยังกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และได้ประกาศข่าวประเสริฐตามทางในหมู่บ้านชาวสะมาเรียหลายแห่ง

²⁶But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise, and go toward the south to the way that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. This is a desert.”

²⁶แต่ทูตสวรรค์ขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าได้สั่งฟีลิปว่า "จงลุกขึ้นไปยังทิศใต้ตามทางที่ลงไปจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็มถึงเมืองกาซา ซึ่งเป็นทางป่าทราย"

²⁷He arose and went; and behold, there was a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, who had come to Jerusalem to worship.

²⁷ฝ่ายฟีลิปก็ลุกขึ้นไป และดูเถิด มีชาวเอธิโอเปียคนหนึ่งเป็นขันที เป็นข้าราชการของพระนางคานดาสี พระราชินีของชาวเอธิโอเปีย และเป็นนายคลังทรัพย์ทั้งหมดของพระราชินีนั้น ได้มานมัสการในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม

²⁸He was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah.

²⁸ขณะนั่งรถม้ากลับไป ท่านอ่านหนังสืออิสยาห์ศาสดาพยากรณ์อยู่

²⁹The Spirit said to Philip, “Go near, and join yourself to this chariot.”

²⁹ฝ่ายพระวิญญาณตรัสสั่งฟีลิปว่า "จงเข้าไปให้ชิดรถม้านั้นเถิด"

³⁰Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”

³⁰ฟีลิปจึงวิ่งเข้าไปใกล้ และได้ยินท่านอ่านหนังสืออิสยาห์ศาสดาพยากรณ์ จึงถามว่า "ซึ่งท่านอ่านนั้นท่านเข้าใจหรือ"

³¹He said, “How can I, unless someone explains it to me?” He begged Philip to come up and sit with him.

³¹ขันทีจึงตอบว่า "ถ้าไม่มีใครอธิบายให้ ที่ไหนจะเข้าใจได้" ท่านจึงเชิญฟีลิปขึ้นนั่งรถกับท่าน

³²Now the passage of the Scripture which he was reading was this, “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter. As a lamb before his shearer is silent, so he doesn’t open his mouth.

³²พระคัมภีร์ตอนที่ท่านอ่านอยู่นั้นคือข้อเหล่านี้ `เขาได้นำท่านเหมือนแกะที่ถูกนำไปฆ่า และเหมือนลูกแกะที่เป็นใบ้อยู่หน้าผู้ตัดขนของมันฉันใด ท่านก็ไม่ปริปากของท่านเลยฉันนั้น

³³In his humiliation, his judgment was taken away. Who will declare His generation? For his life is taken from the earth.” Isaiah 53:7,8

³³ในคราวที่ท่านถูกเหยียดลงนั้น ท่านไม่ได้รับความยุติธรรมเสียเลย และผู้ใดเล่าจะประกาศเกี่ยวกับพงศ์พันธุ์ของท่าน เพราะว่าชีวิตของท่านต้องถูกตัดเสียจากแผ่นดินโลกแล้ว'

³⁴The eunuch answered Philip, “Who is the prophet talking about? About himself, or about someone else?”

³⁴ขันทีจึงถามฟีลิปว่า "ศาสดาพยากรณ์ได้กล่าวอย่างนั้นเล็งถึงผู้ใด เล็งถึงตัวท่านเอง หรือเล็งถึงผู้อื่น บอกข้าพเจ้าเถิด"

³⁵Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture, preached to him Jesus.

³⁵ฝ่ายฟีลิปจึงเริ่มเล่าจับต้นกล่าวตามพระคัมภีร์ข้อนั้น ชี้แจงถึงเรื่องพระเยซู

³⁶As they went on the way, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Behold, here is water. What is keeping me from being baptized?”

³⁶ครั้นกำลังเดินทางไปก็มาถึงที่มีน้ำแห่งหนึ่ง ขันทีจึงบอกว่า "ดูเถิด มีน้ำ มีอะไรขัดข้องไม่ให้ข้าพเจ้ารับบัพติศมา"

³⁷ TR adds “Philip said, ‘If you believe with all your heart, you may.’ He answered, ‘I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.’”

³⁷และฟีลิปจึงตอบว่า "ถ้าท่านเต็มใจเชื่อท่านก็รับได้" และขันทีจึงตอบว่า "ข้าพเจ้าเชื่อว่า พระเยซูคริสต์เป็นพระบุตรของพระเจ้า"

³⁸He commanded the chariot to stand still, and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him.

³⁸แล้วท่านจึงสั่งให้หยุดรถม้า และคนทั้งสองลงไปในน้ำทั้งฟีลิปกับขันที ฟีลิปก็ให้ท่านรับบัพติศมา

³⁹When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, and the eunuch didn’t see him any more, for he went on his way rejoicing.

³⁹เมื่อท่านทั้งสองขึ้นจากน้ำแล้ว พระวิญญาณขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงรับฟีลิปไปเสีย และขันทีนั้นไม่ได้เห็นท่านอีก จึงเดินทางต่อไปด้วยความยินดี

⁴⁰But Philip was found at Azotus. Passing through, he preached the Good News to all the cities, until he came to Caesarea.

⁴⁰แต่มีผู้ได้พบฟีลิปที่เมืองอาโซทัส และเมื่อเดินทางมา ท่านได้ประกาศข่าวประเสริฐในทุกเมืองจนท่านมาถึงเมืองซีซารียา
