1Then after a period of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with me.
1แล้วสิบสี่ปีต่อมา ข้าพเจ้ากับบารนาบัสได้ขึ้นไปยังกรุงเยรูซาเล็มอีกและพาทิตัสไปด้วย
2I went up by revelation, and I laid before them the Good News which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately before those who were respected, for fear that I might be running, or had run, in vain.
2ข้าพเจ้าขึ้นไปตามที่พระเจ้าได้ทรงสำแดงแก่ข้าพเจ้า และข้าพเจ้าได้เล่าข่าวประเสริฐที่ข้าพเจ้าประกาศแก่ชนต่างชาติให้เขาฟัง แต่ได้เล่าให้คนสำคัญฟังเป็นส่วนตัวเกรงว่าข้าพเจ้าอาจจะวิ่งแข่งกัน หรือวิ่งแล้วโดยไร้ประโยชน์
3But not even Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.
3แต่ถึงแม้ทิตัสซึ่งอยู่กับข้าพเจ้าจะเป็นชาวกรีก เขาก็ไม่ได้ถูกบังคับให้เข้าสุหนัต
4This was because of the false brothers secretly brought in, who stole in to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage;
4เพราะเหตุของพี่น้องจอมปลอมที่ได้ลอบเข้ามา เพื่อจะสอดแนมดูเสรีภาพซึ่งเรามีในพระเยซูคริสต์ เพราะพวกเขาหวังจะเอาเราไปเป็นทาส
5to whom we gave no place in the way of subjection, not for an hour, that the truth of the Good News might continue with you.
5แต่เราไม่ได้ยอมอ่อนข้อให้กับเขาแม้สักชั่วโมงเดียว เพื่อให้ความจริงของข่าวประเสริฐนั้นดำรงอยู่กับท่านทั้งหลายต่อไป
6But from those who were reputed to be important (whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God doesn’t show partiality to man)—they, I say, who were respected imparted nothing to me,
6แต่จากพวกเหล่านั้นที่เขาถือว่าเป็นคนสำคัญ (เขาจะเคยเป็นอะไรมาก่อนก็ตาม ก็ไม่สำคัญอะไรสำหรับข้าพเจ้าเลย พระเจ้ามิได้ทรงเห็นแก่หน้าผู้ใด) คนเหล่านั้นซึ่งเขาถือว่าเป็นคนสำคัญ ไม่ได้เพิ่มเติมสิ่งหนึ่งสิ่งใดให้แก่ข้าพเจ้าเลย
7but to the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the Good News for the uncircumcision, even as Peter with the Good News for the circumcision
7แต่ตรงกันข้าม เมื่อเขาเห็นว่า ข้าพเจ้าได้รับมอบให้ประกาศข่าวประเสริฐแก่คนเหล่านั้นที่ไม่ถือพิธีเข้าสุหนัต เช่นเดียวกับเปโตรได้รับมอบให้ประกาศข่าวประเสริฐแก่คนที่ถือพิธีเข้าสุหนัต
8(for he who appointed Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision appointed me also to the Gentiles);
8(เพราะว่า พระองค์ผู้ได้ทรงดลใจเปโตรให้เป็นอัครสาวกไปหาพวกที่ถือพิธีเข้าสุหนัต ก็ได้ทรงดลใจข้าพเจ้าให้ไปหาคนต่างชาติเหมือนกัน)
9and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, they who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision.
9เมื่อยากอบ เคฟาสและยอห์น ผู้ที่เขานับถือว่าเป็นหลักได้เห็นพระคุณซึ่งประทานแก่ข้าพเจ้าแล้ว ก็ได้จับมือขวาของข้าพเจ้ากับบารนาบัสแสดงว่าเราเป็นเพื่อนร่วมงานกัน เพื่อให้เราไปหาคนต่างชาติ และท่านเหล่านั้นจะไปหาพวกที่ถือพิธีเข้าสุหนัต
10They only asked us to remember the poor—which very thing I was also zealous to do.
10ท่านเหล่านั้นขอแต่เพียงไม่ให้เราลืมนึกถึงคนจน ซึ่งเป็นสิ่งที่ข้าพเจ้ากระตือรือร้นที่จะกระทำ
11But when Peter came to Antioch, I resisted him to his face, because he stood condemned.
11แต่เมื่อเปโตรมาถึงอันทิโอกแล้ว ข้าพเจ้าก็ได้คัดค้านท่านซึ่งๆหน้า เพราะว่าท่านทำผิดแน่
12For before some people came from James, he ate with the Gentiles. But when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.
12ด้วยว่าก่อนที่คนของยากอบมาถึงนั้น ท่านได้กินอยู่ด้วยกันกับคนต่างชาติ แต่พอคนพวกนั้นมาถึง ท่านก็ปลีกตัวออกไปอยู่เสียต่างหาก เพราะกลัวพวกที่ถือพิธีเข้าสุหนัต
13And the rest of the Jews joined him in his hypocrisy; so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.
13และพวกยิวคนอื่นๆก็ได้แสร้งทำตามท่านเช่นกัน แม้แต่บารนาบัสก็หลงแสร้งทำตามคนเหล่านั้นไปด้วย
14But when I saw that they didn’t walk uprightly according to the truth of the Good News, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live as the Gentiles do, and not as the Jews do, why do you compel the Gentiles to live as the Jews do?
14แต่เมื่อข้าพเจ้าเห็นว่าเขาไม่ได้ดำเนินในความเที่ยงธรรมตามความจริงของข่าวประเสริฐนั้น ข้าพเจ้าจึงว่าแก่เปโตรต่อหน้าคนทั้งปวงว่า "ถ้าท่านเองซึ่งเป็นพวกยิวประพฤติตามอย่างคนต่างชาติ มิใช่ตามอย่างพวกยิว เหตุไฉนท่านจึงบังคับคนต่างชาติให้ประพฤติตามอย่างพวกยิวเล่า"
15“We, being Jews by nature, and not Gentile sinners,
15เราผู้มีสัญชาติเป็นยิว และไม่ใช่คนบาปในพวกชนต่างชาติ
16yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law, because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law.
16ก็ยังรู้ว่าไม่มีผู้ใดเป็นคนชอบธรรมได้โดยการประพฤติตามพระราชบัญญัติ แต่โดยความเชื่อในพระเยซูคริสต์เท่านั้น ถึงเราเองก็มีความเชื่อในพระเยซูคริสต์ เพื่อเราจะได้เป็นคนชอบธรรมโดยความเชื่อในพระคริสต์ ไม่ใช่โดยการประพฤติตามพระราชบัญญัติ เพราะว่าโดยการประพฤติตามพระราชบัญญัตินั้น `ไม่มีผู้หนึ่งผู้ใดเป็นคนชอบธรรมได้เลย'
17But if, while we sought to be justified in Christ, we ourselves also were found sinners, is Christ a servant of sin? Certainly not!
17แต่ถ้าในขณะที่เรากำลังขวนขวายจะเป็นคนชอบธรรมโดยพระคริสต์นั้น เราเองยังปรากฏเป็นคนบาปอยู่ พระคริสต์จึงทรงเป็นผู้ส่งเสริมบาปหรือ ขอพระเจ้าอย่ายอมให้เป็นเช่นนั้นเลย
18For if I build up again those things which I destroyed, I prove myself a law-breaker.
18เพราะว่าถ้าข้าพเจ้าก่อสิ่งซึ่งข้าพเจ้าได้รื้อทำลายลงแล้วขึ้นมาอีก ข้าพเจ้าก็ส่อตัวเองว่าเป็นผู้ละเมิด
19For I, through the law, died to the law, that I might live to God.
19เหตุว่าโดยพระราชบัญญัตินั้นข้าพเจ้าได้ตายจากพระราชบัญญัติแล้ว เพื่อข้าพเจ้าจะได้มีชีวิตอยู่เพื่อพระเจ้า
20I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.
20ข้าพเจ้าถูกตรึงไว้กับพระคริสต์แล้ว แต่ข้าพเจ้าก็ยังมีชีวิตอยู่ ไม่ใช่ข้าพเจ้าเองมีชีวิตอยู่ต่อไป แต่พระคริสต์ต่างหากที่ทรงมีชีวิตอยู่ในข้าพเจ้า และชีวิตซึ่งข้าพเจ้าดำเนินอยู่ในร่างกายขณะนี้ ข้าพเจ้าดำเนินอยู่โดยความเชื่อในพระบุตรของพระเจ้า ผู้ได้ทรงรักข้าพเจ้า และได้ทรงสละพระองค์เองเพื่อข้าพเจ้า
21I don’t make void the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nothing!”
21ข้าพเจ้าไม่ได้กระทำให้พระคุณของพระเจ้าไร้ประโยชน์ เพราะว่าถ้าความชอบธรรมเกิดจากพระราชบัญญัติแล้ว พระคริสต์ก็ทรงสิ้นพระชนม์โดยเปล่าประโยชน์
