1“Come down, and sit in the dust, virgin daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground without a throne, daughter of the Chaldeans: for you shall no more be called tender and delicate.

2Take the millstones, and grind meal; remove your veil, strip off the train, uncover the leg, pass through the rivers.
2จับโม่เข้า โม่แป้งซี เอาผ้าคลุมหน้าของเจ้าออกเสีย ถอดเสื้อคลุมของเจ้าเสีย ไม่ต้องคลุมขาของเจ้า ลุยน้ำไป
3Your nakedness shall be uncovered, yes, your shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and will spare no man.”
3เจ้าจะต้องถูกเปลือยและเขาจะเห็นความอายของเจ้า เราจะทำการแก้แค้น และเราจะไม่พบเจ้าอย่างมนุษย์

5“Sit in silence, and go into darkness, daughter of the Chaldeans; for you shall no more be called the mistress of kingdoms.
5โอ ธิดาแห่งชาวเคลเดียเอ๋ย นั่งเงียบๆ และจงเข้าไปในความมืด เพราะเขาจะไม่เรียกเจ้าอีกว่า นางพญาแห่งราชอาณาจักรทั้งหลาย
6I was angry with my people, I profaned my inheritance, and gave them into your hand: you showed them no mercy; on the aged you have very heavily laid your yoke.
6เรากริ้วต่อชนชาติของเรา เราทำให้มรดกของเราเป็นมลทิน เรามอบเขาไว้ในมือของเจ้า เจ้ามิได้แสดงความกรุณาต่อเขา เจ้าวางแอกอย่างหนักไว้บนบ่าของคนชรา
7You said, ‘I shall be a mistress forever;’ so that you did not lay these things to your heart, nor did you remember the latter end of it.
7เจ้าว่า "ข้าจะเป็นนางพญาเป็นนิตย์" เจ้าจึงมิได้เอาเรื่องเหล่านี้เป็นที่สอนใจ หรือจดจำบั้นปลายของเรื่องเหล่านี้ไว้
8“Now therefore hear this, you who are given to pleasures, who sit securely, who say in your heart, ‘I am, and there is none else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:’
8ฉะนั้น เจ้าผู้รักความเพลิดเพลิน จงฟังเรื่องนี้ คือผู้นั่งอย่างไร้กังวล ผู้คิดในใจของตนว่า "ข้านี่แหละ และไม่มีผู้ใดอื่นอีก ข้าจะไม่นั่งอยู่เป็นแม่ม่าย หรือรู้จักที่จะพรากจากลูก"
9but these two things shall come to you in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood; in their full measure shall they come on you, in the multitude of your sorceries, and the great abundance of your enchantments.
9ทั้งสองเรื่องนี้จะมาถึงเจ้าในขณะเดียวกันในวันเดียว คือความที่ต้องพรากจากลูกและความที่เป็นแม่ม่าย จะมาถึงเจ้าอย่างเต็มขนาดทั้งที่มีวิทยาคมเป็นอันมาก และอานุภาพใหญ่ยิ่งในเวทมนตร์ของเจ้า
10For you have trusted in your wickedness; you have said, No one sees me; your wisdom and your knowledge, it has perverted you, and you have said in your heart, I am, and there is none else besides me.
10ด้วยว่าเจ้ารู้สึกมั่นอยู่ในความชั่วของเจ้า เจ้าว่า "ไม่มีผู้ใดเห็นข้า" สติปัญญาของเจ้าและความรู้ของเจ้า ทำให้เจ้าเจิ่นไป และเจ้าจึงว่าในใจของเจ้าว่า "ข้านี่แหละ และไม่มีผู้ใดอื่นอีก"
11Therefore evil will come on you; you won’t know when it dawns: and mischief will fall on you; you will not be able to put it away: and desolation shall come on you suddenly, which you don’t know.
11ฉะนั้นความชั่วร้ายจะมาเหนือเจ้า ซึ่งเจ้าจะไม่รู้ว่ามันขึ้นมาจากไหน ความเลวร้ายจะตกใส่เจ้า ซึ่งเจ้าจะไม่สามารถถอดถอนได้ และความพินาศจะมาถึงเจ้าทันทีทันใด ซึ่งเจ้าไม่รู้เรื่องเลย
12“Stand now with your enchantments, and with the multitude of your sorceries, in which you have labored from your youth; if so be you shall be able to profit, if so be you may prevail.
12จงตั้งมั่นอยู่ในเวทมนตร์ของเจ้า และวิทยาคมเป็นอันมากของเจ้า ซึ่งเจ้าทำมาหนักนักหนาตั้งแต่สาวๆ ชะรอยมันจะเป็นประโยชน์แก่เจ้าได้ ชะรอยเจ้าจะมีชัย
13You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels: let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save you from the things that shall come on you.
13เจ้าเหน็ดเหนื่อยกับที่ปรึกษาเป็นอันมากของเจ้า ให้เขาลุกขึ้นออกมาและช่วยเจ้าให้รอด คือบรรดาผู้ที่แบ่งฟ้าสวรรค์และเพ่งดูดวงดาว ผู้ซึ่งทำนายให้เจ้าในวันขึ้นค่ำว่า จะเกิดอะไรขึ้นแก่เจ้า
14Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: it shall not be a coal to warm at, nor a fire to sit before.
14ดูเถิด เขาจะเป็นเหมือนตอข้าว ไฟจะเผาผลาญเขา เขาจะช่วยตัวเขาเองให้พ้นจากกำลังของเปลวเพลิงไม่ได้ นี่ไม่ใช่ถ่านที่จะให้ใครอุ่น ไม่ใช่ไฟที่จะให้ใครผิง
15Thus shall the things be to you in which you have labored: those who have trafficked with you from your youth shall wander everyone to his quarter; there shall be none to save you.
15บรรดาที่เจ้าทำงานด้วยกันนั้นจะเป็นเช่นนี้แก่เจ้า ผู้ซึ่งค้ามากับเจ้าตั้งแต่สาวๆ เขาต่างจะพเนจรไปมาในทางของเขาเอง ไม่มีผู้ใดจะช่วยเจ้าให้รอดได้
