¹The word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought.

¹พระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ซึ่งมาถึงเยเรมีย์ เกี่ยวด้วยความแห้งแล้งว่า

²Judah mourns, and its gates languish, they sit in black on the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.

²"ยูดาห์ไว้ทุกข์ และประตูเมืองทั้งปวงของเธอก็อ่อนกำลังลง ประชาชนของเธอก็แต่งดำหน้าก้มอยู่บนแผ่นดิน และเสียงร้องของเยรูซาเล็มก็ขึ้นไป

³Their nobles send their little ones to the waters: they come to the cisterns, and find no water; they return with their vessels empty; they are disappointed and confounded, and cover their heads.

³ขุนนางของเธอส่งผู้น้อยของเขาให้ไปตักน้ำ เขาทั้งหลายไปยังที่ขังน้ำเห็นว่าไม่มีน้ำ เขาทั้งหลายก็กลับไปด้วยภาชนะเปล่า เขาทั้งหลายได้อายและขายหน้า เขาจึงคลุมศีรษะของเขาทั้งหลายเสีย

⁴Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land, the plowmen are disappointed, they cover their heads.

⁴เพราะเรื่องแผ่นดินที่แห้งแล้งเนื่องจากไม่มีฝนตกบนแผ่นดิน ชาวนาทั้งหลายก็อับอาย เขาทั้งหลายจึงคลุมศีรษะของเขาเสีย

⁵Yes, the hind also in the field calves, and forsakes her young, because there is no grass.

⁵แม้กวางตัวเมียที่อยู่ในท้องทุ่งก็ละทิ้งลูกที่ตกใหม่ของมันเสีย เพราะว่าไม่มีหญ้า

⁶The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights, they pant for air like jackals; their eyes fail, because there is no herbage.

⁶ลาป่ายืนอยู่บนที่สูง มันสูดลมหายใจเหมือนมังกร ตาของมันก็มืดมัว เพราะไม่มีหญ้า"

⁷Though our iniquities testify against us, work for your name’s sake, Yahweh; for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against you.

⁷"แม้ว่าความชั่วช้าของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายก็เป็นพยานปรักปรำข้าพระองค์ ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ ขอพระองค์โปรดเถิดเพื่อเห็นแก่พระนามของพระองค์ ด้วยว่าบรรดาการกลับสัตย์ของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายก็มากยิ่ง ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายกระทำบาปต่อพระองค์

⁸You hope of Israel, its Savior in the time of trouble, why should you be as a foreigner in the land, and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to stay for a night?

⁸ข้าแต่พระองค์ผู้เป็นความหวังแห่งอิสราเอล เป็นพระผู้ช่วยให้รอดของเขาในยามลำบาก ไฉนพระองค์จะทรงเป็นเหมือนคนต่างด้าวในแผ่นดิน หรือเหมือนคนเดินทางแวะอาศัยค้างเพียงคืนเดียว

⁹Why should you be like a scared man, as a mighty man who can’t save? Yet you, Yahweh, are in the midst of us, and we are called by your name; don’t leave us.

⁹ไฉนพระองค์จะทรงเป็นเหมือนชายที่งันงง หรือเหมือนคนที่มีกำลังมากแต่ช่วยใครให้รอดไม่ได้ ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ แม้กระนั้นก็ดีพระองค์ทรงสถิตท่ามกลางข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย คนเขาเรียกพวกข้าพระองค์โดยพระนามของพระองค์ ขออย่าทรงละข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายไว้เสีย"

¹⁰Thus says Yahweh to this people, Even so have they loved to wander; they have not refrained their feet: therefore Yahweh does not accept them; now he will remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.

¹⁰พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสแก่ชนชาตินี้ว่า "เขาทั้งหลายรักที่จะพเนจรไปอย่างนี้ เขาทั้งหลายไม่ยับยั้งเท้าของเขาไว้ ฉะนั้นพระเยโฮวาห์จึงไม่ทรงรับเขา บัดนี้พระองค์จะทรงระลึกถึงความชั่วช้าของเขา และลงโทษการผิดบาปของเขา"

¹¹Yahweh said to me, Don’t pray for this people for their good.

¹¹พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสแก่ข้าพเจ้าว่า "อย่าอธิษฐานเพื่อความอยู่เย็นเป็นสุขของชนชาตินี้เลย

¹²When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and meal offering, I will not accept them; but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.

¹²แม้ว่าเขาอดอาหาร เราก็จะไม่ฟังเสียงร้องของเขา แม้เขาถวายเครื่องเผาบูชาและเครื่องธัญญบูชา เราก็จะไม่รับมัน แต่เราจะผลาญเขาเสียด้วยดาบ ด้วยการกันดารอาหาร และด้วยโรคระบาด"

¹³Then I said, Ah, Lord Yahweh! behold, the prophets tell them, You shall not see the sword, neither shall you have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.

¹³แล้วข้าพเจ้าพูดว่า "ข้าแต่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้า ดูเถิด พวกผู้พยากรณ์กล่าวแก่เขาว่า `ท่านทั้งหลายจะไม่เห็นดาบหรือจะมีการกันดารอาหาร แต่เราจะให้สันติภาพที่แน่นอนแก่เจ้าในสถานที่นี้'"

¹⁴Then Yahweh said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name; I didn’t send them, neither have I commanded them, neither spoke I to them: they prophesy to you a lying vision, and divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.

¹⁴และพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสแก่ข้าพเจ้าว่า "พวกผู้พยากรณ์เหล่านั้นพยากรณ์เท็จในนามของเรา เรามิได้ใช้เขาทั้งหลาย และเรามิได้บัญชาเขาหรือพูดกับเขา เขาพยากรณ์นิมิตและการทำนายเท็จแก่เจ้าทั้งหลาย เป็นการทำนายที่ไร้ค่า เป็นการล่อลวงของจิตใจเขาเอง

¹⁵Therefore thus says Yahweh concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, and I didn’t send them, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land: By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.

¹⁵ฉะนั้น พระเยโฮวาห์จึงตรัสดังนี้เกี่ยวด้วยพวกผู้พยากรณ์ ผู้พยากรณ์ในนามของเรา แม้ว่าเราไม่ได้ใช้เขาทั้งหลาย และผู้กล่าวว่า `ดาบและการกันดารอาหารจะไม่มาถึงแผ่นดินนี้' พวกผู้พยากรณ์เหล่านั้นจะถูกผลาญเสียด้วยดาบและการกันดารอาหาร

¹⁶The people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them—them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness on them.

¹⁶และประชาชนผู้ซึ่งเขาพยากรณ์ให้ฟังนั้น จะถูกทิ้งไว้ในถนนหนทางกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม เพราะเหตุการกันดารอาหารและดาบ ซึ่งไม่มีผู้ใดจะฝังเขา คือทั้งตัวเขาทั้งหลาย ภรรยาของเขา บุตรชายและบุตรสาวของเขา เพราะเราจะเทความชั่วของเขาสนองเขา

¹⁷You shall say this word to them, Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.

¹⁷เจ้าจงกล่าวถ้อยคำนี้แก่เขาว่า `ขอให้ตาของเรามีน้ำตาไหลทั้งกลางคืนและกล่างวัน อย่าให้หยุดยั้ง เพราะบุตรสาวพรหมจารีแห่งประชาชนของเรา ถูกขยี้ด้วยความหายนะยิ่งใหญ่ ถูกตีอย่างหนักมาก

¹⁸If I go forth into the field, then, behold, the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then, behold, those who are sick with famine! for both the prophet and the priest go about in the land, and have no knowledge.

¹⁸ถ้าเราออกไปในท้องนา ดูเถิด นั่นคนที่ถูกฆ่าเสียด้วยดาบ ถ้าเราเข้าไปในกรุง ดูเถิด นั่นโรคอันเนื่องจากการกันดาร เพราะว่าทั้งพวกผู้พยากรณ์และปุโรหิตไปค้ากันในแผ่นดินที่เขาไม่รู้จัก'"

¹⁹Have you utterly rejected Judah? has your soul loathed Zion? why have you struck us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold, dismay!

¹⁹พระองค์ทรงปฏิเสธไม่รับยูดาห์เสียทีเดียวแล้วหรือ พระทัยของพระองค์เกลียดศิโยนเสียแล้วหรือ ไฉนพระองค์ทรงเฆี่ยนตีข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย จนไม่มีการรักษาข้าพระองค์ให้หาย ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายมองหาสันติภาพ แต่ไม่มีความดีมาเลย เรามองหาเวลาเยียวยา แต่ประสบความสยดสยอง

²⁰We acknowledge, Yahweh, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against you.

²⁰ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายขอสารภาพความชั่วของพวกข้าพระองค์ และความชั่วช้าของบรรพบุรุษของข้าพระองค์ เพราะข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายได้กระทำบาปต่อพระองค์

²¹Do not abhor us, for your name’s sake; do not disgrace the throne of your glory: remember, don’t break your covenant with us.

²¹เพราะเห็นแก่พระนามของพระองค์ ขออย่าทรงเกลียดพวกข้าพระองค์ ขออย่าให้หลู่เกียรติแห่งพระที่นั่งอันรุ่งเรืองของพระองค์ ขอทรงระลึกและอย่าทรงหักพันธสัญญาของพระองค์ซึ่งมีไว้กับข้าพระองค์

²²Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? or can the sky give showers? Aren’t you he, Yahweh our God? therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things.

²²ในบรรดาพระเทียมเท็จแห่งประชาชาติทั้งหลายมีพระองค์ใดเล่าที่ทำให้เกิดฝนได้หรือ ท้องฟ้าประทานห่าฝนได้หรือ ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ พระเจ้าของพวกข้าพระองค์ พระองค์มิใช่พระเจ้าองค์นั้นดอกหรือ พวกข้าพระองค์จึงคอยหวังในพระองค์ เพราะพระองค์ทรงกระทำสิ่งเหล่านี้ทั้งสิ้น
