1Yahweh showed me, and behold, two baskets of figs set before Yahweh’s temple, after that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the craftsmen and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.
1หลังจากเนบูคัดเนสซาร์กษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลนได้จับเยโคนิยาห์ราชบุตรของเยโฮยาคิมกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ไปเป็นเชลยเสียจากเยรูซาเล็ม พร้อมกับเจ้านายแห่งยูดาห์ ทั้งพวกช่างไม้และช่างเหล็ก และนำเขามายังกรุงบาบิโลนแล้ว พระเยโฮวาห์ก็ทรงสำแดงนิมิตแก่ข้าพเจ้าดังนี้ ดูเถิด มีกระจาดสองลูกใส่มะเดื่อ วางไว้หน้าพระวิหารของพระเยโฮวาห์
2One basket had very good figs, like the figs that are first-ripe; and the other basket had very bad figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.
2กระจาดลูกหนึ่งมีมะเดื่ออย่างดีนัก เหมือนมะเดื่อที่สุกต้นฤดู แต่กระจาดอีกลูกหนึ่งนั้นมีมะเดื่ออย่างเลวทีเดียว เลวจนรับประทานไม่ได้
3Then Yahweh said to me, What do you see, Jeremiah? I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, that can’t be eaten, they are so bad.
3และพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสแก่ข้าพเจ้าว่า "เยเรมีย์เอ๋ย เจ้าเห็นอะไร" ข้าพเจ้าทูลตอบว่า "เห็นมะเดื่อที่ดีก็ดีมาก และที่เลวก็เลวมาก เลวจนรับประทานไม่ได้ พระเจ้าข้า"
4The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
4แล้วพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มาถึงข้าพเจ้าอีกว่า
5Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so will I regard the captives of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans, for good.
5"พระเยโฮวาห์ พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ตรัสดังนี้ว่า ก็เหมือนอย่างมะเดื่อที่ดีเหล่านี้แหละ เราจะถือว่าพวกเหล่านั้นที่ถูกกวาดไปจากยูดาห์ยังดีอยู่ คือผู้ที่เราได้ส่งไปจากสถานที่นี้ไปสู่แผ่นดินของชาวเคลเดีย
6For I will set my eyes on them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.
6เราจะตั้งตาของเราดูเขาเพื่อจะกระทำความดี และเราจะพาเขาทั้งหลายกลับมายังแผ่นดินนี้อีก เราจะสร้างเขาทั้งหลายขึ้น และจะไม่รื้อลง เราจะปลูกฝังเขาและไม่ถอนเขาเสีย
7I will give them a heart to know me, that I am Yahweh: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God; for they shall return to me with their whole heart.
7เราจะให้จิตใจแก่เขาที่จะรู้จักเราว่า เราคือพระเยโฮวาห์ และเขาทั้งหลายจะเป็นประชาชนของเรา และเราจะเป็นพระเจ้าของเขา เพราะเขาทั้งหลายจะกลับมาหาเราด้วยความเต็มใจ"
8As the bad figs, which can’t be eaten, they are so bad, surely thus says Yahweh, So will I give up Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, who remain in this land, and those who dwell in the land of Egypt,
8แต่พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า "เหมือนอย่างมะเดื่อที่เลว ซึ่งเลวมากจนรับประทานไม่ได้นั้น เราจะกระทำต่อเศเดคียาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ ทั้งเจ้านายของเขา และชาวเยรูซาเล็มที่เหลืออยู่ ผู้ซึ่งยังค้างอยู่ในแผ่นดินนี้ และผู้ที่ยังอาศัยอยู่ในประเทศอียิปต์
9I will even give them up to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth for evil; to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I shall drive them.
9เราจะมอบเขาไว้ให้ย้ายไปอยู่ในอาณาจักรทั้งสิ้นในโลกเพื่อให้เขาเจ็บปวด ให้เป็นที่ถูกตำหนิ เป็นคำภาษิต เป็นที่ถูกเยาะเย้ย และเป็นที่ถูกแช่งสาป ในที่ทุกแห่งซึ่งเราขับไล่เขาให้ไปอยู่นั้น
10I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, until they be consumed from off the land that I gave to them and to their fathers.
10และเราจะส่งดาบและการกันดารอาหาร และโรคระบาดมาท่ามกลางเขา จนเขาจะถูกทำลายอย่างสิ้นเชิงจากแผ่นดินซึ่งเราได้ให้แก่เขาและแก่บรรพบุรุษของเขา"
