¹Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, to the prophets, and to all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon,

¹ต่อไปนี้เป็นถ้อยคำในจดหมายซึ่งเยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์ฝากไปจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็มถึงพวกผู้ใหญ่ที่เหลืออยู่ของพวกที่เป็นเชลย และถึงบรรดาปุโรหิต บรรดาผู้พยากรณ์ และประชาชนทั้งสิ้น ผู้ซึ่งเนบูคัดเนสซาร์ได้ให้กวาดไปจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็มถึงบาบิโลน

²(after that Jeconiah the king, the queen mother, the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the smiths, had departed from Jerusalem),

²(นี่เป็นเรื่องหลังจากกษัตริย์เยโคนิยาห์ และพระราชินี พวกขันที บรรดาเจ้านายของยูดาห์และเยรูซาเล็ม และบรรดาช่างไม้และช่างเหล็กได้ออกไปจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็มแล้ว)

³by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), saying,

³จดหมายนั้นได้ส่งไปด้วยมือของเอลาสาห์บุตรชายของชาฟานและเกมาริยาห์บุตรชายฮิลคียาห์ (ผู้ซึ่งเศเดคียาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ส่งไปที่บาบิโลนยังเนบูคัดเนสซาร์กษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลน) จดหมายนั้นว่า

⁴Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, to all the captivity, whom I have caused to be carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon:

⁴"พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ตรัสดังนี้แก่บรรดาผู้เป็นเชลย ผู้ซึ่งเราได้เนรเทศเขาไปจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็มถึงบาบิโลนนั้นว่า

⁵Build houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat their fruit.

⁵จงสร้างเรือนของเจ้าและอาศัยอยู่ในเรือนนั้น จงปลูกสวนและรับประทานผลไม้ที่ได้นั้น

⁶Take wives, and father sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; and multiply there, and don’t be diminished.

⁶จงมีภรรยาและให้กำเนิดบุตรชายบุตรสาว จงหาภรรยาให้บุตรชายของเจ้าทั้งหลาย และยกบุตรสาวของเจ้าให้แต่งงานเสีย เพื่อนางจะให้กำเนิดบุตรชายและบุตรสาว เพื่อเจ้าทั้งหลายจะทวีมากขึ้นที่นั่นและไม่น้อยลง

⁷Seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to Yahweh for it; for in its peace you shall have peace.

⁷แต่จงส่งเสริมสันติภาพของเมือง ซึ่งเราได้กวาดเจ้าให้ไปเป็นเชลยอยู่นั้น และจงอธิษฐานต่อพระเยโฮวาห์เผื่อเมืองนั้น เพราะว่าเจ้าทั้งหลายจะพบสันติภาพของเจ้าในสันติภาพของเมืองนั้น

⁸For thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Don’t let your prophets who are in the midst of you, and your diviners, deceive you; neither listen to your dreams which you cause to be dreamed.

⁸เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ตรัสดังนี้ว่า อย่ายอมให้ผู้พยากรณ์ของเจ้าทั้งหลาย หรือพวกโหรของเจ้า ผู้อยู่ท่ามกลางหลอกลวงเจ้า และอย่าเชื่อความฝันซึ่งเขาทั้งหลายได้ฝันเห็น

⁹For they prophesy falsely to you in my name: I have not sent them, says Yahweh.

⁹เพราะที่เขาพยากรณ์แก่เจ้าในนามของเรานั้นเป็นความเท็จ เรามิได้ใช้เขาไป พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

¹⁰For thus says Yahweh, After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.

¹⁰เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า เมื่อเจ็ดสิบปีแห่งบาบิโลนครบแล้ว เราจะเยี่ยมเยียนเจ้า และจะให้ถ้อยคำอันดีของเราสำเร็จเพื่อเจ้า และจะนำเจ้ากลับมาสู่สถานที่นี้

¹¹For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.

¹¹พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า เพราะเรารู้แผนงานที่เรามีไว้สำหรับเจ้า เป็นแผนงานเพื่อสันติภาพ ไม่ใช่เพื่อทุกขภาพ เพื่อจะให้อนาคตตามที่คาดหมายไว้แก่เจ้า

¹²You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

¹²แล้วเจ้าจะทูลขอต่อเรา และมาอธิษฐานต่อเรา และเราจะฟังเจ้า

¹³You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart.

¹³เจ้าจะแสวงหาเราและพบเราเมื่อเจ้าแสวงหาเราด้วยสิ้นสุดใจของเจ้า

¹⁴I will be found by you, says Yahweh, and I will turn again your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places where I have driven you, says Yahweh; and I will bring you again to the place from where I caused you to be carried away captive.

¹⁴พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า เราจะให้เจ้าพบเรา และเราจะให้การเป็นเชลยของเจ้ากลับสู่สภาพดี และรวบรวมเจ้ามาจากบรรดาประชาชาติ และจากทุกที่ที่เราขับไล่เจ้าให้ไปอยู่นั้น พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ และเราจะนำเจ้ากลับมายังที่ซึ่งเราเนรเทศเจ้าให้จากไปนั้น

¹⁵Because you have said, Yahweh has raised us up prophets in Babylon;

¹⁵เพราะเจ้าทั้งหลายได้กล่าวว่า `พระเยโฮวาห์ได้เพาะให้มีผู้พยากรณ์สำหรับเราทั้งหลายขึ้นในบาบิโลน'

¹⁶thus says Yahweh concerning the king who sits on the throne of David, and concerning all the people who dwell in this city, your brothers who haven’t gone forth with you into captivity;

¹⁶จงทราบว่าพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้เกี่ยวกับกษัตริย์ ผู้ประทับบนพระที่นั่งของดาวิด และเกี่ยวกับประชาชนทั้งสิ้นผู้อาศัยอยู่ในเมืองนี้ คือญาติพี่น้องของท่าน ผู้มิได้ถูกเนรเทศไปกับท่านว่า

¹⁷thus says Yahweh of Armies; Behold, I will send on them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that can’t be eaten, they are so bad.

¹⁷พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า ดูเถิด เราจะส่งดาบ การกันดารอาหาร และโรคระบาดมาเหนือเขาทั้งหลาย และเราจะกระทำให้เขาทั้งหลายเหมือนกับมะเดื่อที่เสียซึ่งเลวมากจนเขารับประทานไม่ได้

¹⁸I will pursue after them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth, to be an object of horror, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations where I have driven them;

¹⁸เราจะข่มเหงเขาด้วยดาบ การกันดารอาหาร และโรคระบาด และจะกระทำเขาให้ย้ายไปอยู่ในราชอาณาจักรทั้งสิ้นแห่งแผ่นดินโลก ให้เป็นคำสาป ให้เป็นที่น่าตกตะลึง ให้เป็นที่เย้ยหยัน เป็นที่นินทาท่ามกลางบรรดาประชาชาติซึ่งเราได้ขับไล่ให้เขาไปอยู่นั้น

¹⁹because they have not listened to my words, says Yahweh, with which I sent to them my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but you would not hear, says Yahweh.

¹⁹พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า เพราะว่าเขาทั้งหลายไม่เชื่อฟังถ้อยคำของเราที่ส่งมายังเขาอย่างไม่หยุดยั้ง โดยผู้พยากรณ์ผู้รับใช้ของเรา แต่เจ้าทั้งหลายไม่ยอมฟัง พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ"

²⁰Hear therefore the word of Yahweh, all you of the captivity, whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.

²⁰เจ้าทั้งปวงผู้ถูกเนรเทศ ผู้ซึ่งเราส่งไปจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็มถึงบาบิโลน จงฟังพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ที่ว่า

²¹Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he shall kill them before your eyes;

²¹"พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระเจ้าของอิสราเอล ตรัสดังนี้เกี่ยวกับอาหับบุตรชายของโคลายาห์ และเศเดคียาห์บุตรชายมาอาเสอาห์ ผู้ซึ่งได้พยากรณ์เท็จแก่เจ้าในนามของเรา ดูเถิด เราจะมอบเขาทั้งสองไว้ในมือของเนบูคัดเนสซาร์กษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลน และท่านจะฆ่าเขาทั้งสองเสียต่อหน้าต่อตาเจ้า

²²and of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captives of Judah who are in Babylon, saying, Yahweh make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;

²²เหตุเขาทั้งสองบรรดาผู้ที่ถูกเนรเทศจากยูดาห์ไปถึงบาบิโลนจะใช้คำสาปต่อไปนี้ว่า `ขอพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกระทำให้เจ้าเหมือนเศเดคียาห์และอาหับ ผู้ที่กษัตริย์บาบิโลนคลอกเสียด้วยไฟ'

²³because they have worked folly in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken words in my name falsely, which I didn’t command them; and I am he who knows, and am witness, says Yahweh.

²³เพราะเขาทั้งสองได้กระทำความเลวร้ายในอิสราเอล ได้ล่วงประเวณีกับภรรยาของเพื่อนบ้าน และได้พูดถ้อยคำเท็จในนามของเรา ซึ่งเรามิได้บัญชาเขา เราเป็นผู้ที่รู้และเราเป็นพยาน" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

²⁴Concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite you shall speak, saying,

²⁴เจ้าจงบอกเชไมอาห์ชาวเนเฮลามว่า

²⁵Thus speaks Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, saying, Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

²⁵"พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ตรัสดังนี้ว่า เจ้าได้ส่งจดหมายในนามของเจ้าไปยังประชาชนทั้งปวงผู้อยู่ในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และยังเศฟันยาห์บุตรชายมาอาเสอาห์ปุโรหิต และยังปุโรหิตทั้งปวงว่า

²⁶Yahweh has made you priest in the place of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in the house of Yahweh, for every man who is mad, and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in the stocks and in shackles.

²⁶`พระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงกระทำเจ้าให้เป็นปุโรหิตแทนเยโฮยาดาปุโรหิต ให้เป็นเจ้าหน้าที่ในพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ ควบคุมคนบ้าทุกคนที่ตั้งตัวเองเป็นผู้พยากรณ์ ให้จับเขาใส่คุกและใส่คา'

²⁷Now therefore, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who makes himself a prophet to you,

²⁷บัดนี้ทำไมเจ้ามิได้ต่อว่าเยเรมีย์ชาวอานาโธทผู้ซึ่งตั้งตัวเองเป็นผู้พยากรณ์แก่เจ้า

²⁸because he has sent to us in Babylon, saying, The captivity is long: build houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat their fruit?

²⁸เพราะเขาได้ส่งจดหมายมายังเราในบาบิโลนว่า `การที่เจ้าเป็นเชลยนั้นจะเนิ่นนาน จงสร้างเรือนของเจ้าและอาศัยอยู่ในเรือนนั้น และปลูกสวนและรับประทานผลที่ได้นั้น'"

²⁹Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.

²⁹เศฟันยาห์ปุโรหิตอ่านจดหมายนี้ให้เยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์ฟัง

³⁰Then came the word of Yahweh to Jeremiah, saying,

³⁰แล้วพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มายังเยเรมีย์ว่า

³¹Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus says Yahweh concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, and I didn’t send him, and he has caused you to trust in a lie;

³¹"จงเขียนไปถึงบรรดาผู้เป็นเชลยทั้งปวงว่า `พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสเกี่ยวกับเชไมอาห์ชาวเนเฮลามว่า เพราะว่าเชไมอาห์ได้พยากรณ์แก่เจ้าเมื่อเรามิได้ใช้เขา และได้กระทำให้เจ้าวางใจในคำเท็จ

³²therefore thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed; he shall not have a man to dwell among this people, neither shall he see the good that I will do to my people, says Yahweh, because he has spoken rebellion against Yahweh.

³²เพราะฉะนั้น พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า ดูเถิด เราจะลงโทษเชไมอาห์ชาวเนเฮลามและเชื้อสายของเขา เขาจะไม่มีสักคนหนึ่งที่จะอาศัยอยู่ในท่ามกลางชนชาตินี้ ทั้งเขาจะมิได้เห็นความดีซึ่งเราจะกระทำแก่ประชาชนของเรา เพราะเขาได้สอนให้กบฏต่อพระเยโฮวาห์ พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ'"
