1Shephatiah the son of Mattan, and Gedaliah the son of Pashhur, and Jucal the son of Shelemiah, and Pashhur the son of Malchijah, heard the words that Jeremiah spoke to all the people, saying,
1ฝ่ายเชฟาทิยาห์บุตรชายมัทธาน เกดาลิยาห์บุตรชายปาชเฮอร์ และยูคาลบุตรชายเชเลมิยาห์ และปาชเฮอร์บุตรชายมัลคิยาห์ได้ยินถ้อยคำของเยเรมีย์ที่กล่าวแก่ประชาชนทุกคนว่า
2Thus says Yahweh, He who remains in this city shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; but he who goes forth to the Chaldeans shall live, and his life shall be to him for a prey, and he shall live.
2"พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า ผู้ใดอยู่ในกรุงนี้จะต้องตายด้วยดาบ ด้วยการกันดารอาหาร และด้วยโรคระบาด แต่ผู้ใดที่ออกไปหาคนเคลเดียจะมีชีวิตอยู่ เขาจะมีชีวิตเป็นบำเหน็จแห่งการสงคราม และยังมีชีวิตอยู่
3Thus says Yahweh, This city shall surely be given into the hand of the army of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it.
3พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า แน่นอนกรุงนี้จะต้องมอบไว้ในมือของกองทัพของกษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลนและท่านจะยึดไว้"
4Then the princes said to the king, “Please let this man be put to death; because he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them: for this man doesn’t seek the welfare of this people, but the hurt.”
4และบรรดาเจ้านายจึงทูลกษัตริย์ว่า "ขอประหารชายคนนี้เสีย เพราะเขากระทำให้มือของทหารซึ่งเหลืออยู่ในเมืองนี้อ่อนลง ทั้งมือของประชาชนทั้งหมดด้วย โดยพูดถ้อยคำเช่นนี้แก่เขาทั้งหลาย เพราะว่าชายคนนี้มิได้แสวงหาความอยู่เย็นเป็นสุขของชนชาตินี้ แต่หาความทุกข์ยากลำบาก"
5Zedekiah the king said, Behold, he is in your hand; for the king is not he who can do anything against you.
5กษัตริย์เศเดคียาห์ตรัสว่า "ดูเถิด ชายคนนี้อยู่ในมือของท่านทั้งหลายแล้ว เพราะกษัตริย์จะทำอะไรขัดท่านทั้งหลายได้เล่า"
6Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchijah the king’s son, that was in the court of the guard: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. In the dungeon there was no water, but mire; and Jeremiah sank in the mire.
6เขาจึงจับเยเรมีย์หย่อนลงไปในคุกใต้ดินของมัลคิยาห์บุตรชายฮามเมเลคซึ่งอยู่ในบริเวณทหารรักษาพระองค์ เขาเอาเชือกหย่อนเยเรมีย์ลงไป ในคุกใต้ดินนั้นไม่มีน้ำ มีแต่โคลน และเยเรมีย์ก็จมลงไปในโคลน
7Now when Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, a eunuch, who was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon (the king then sitting in the gate of Benjamin),
7เมื่อเอเบดเมเลคคนเอธิโอเปียขันทีคนหนึ่งในพระราชวังได้ยินว่า เขาหย่อนเยเรมีย์ลงไปในคุกใต้ดินนั้น ฝ่ายกษัตริย์ประทับอยู่ที่ประตูเบนยามิน
8Ebedmelech went forth out of the king’s house, and spoke to the king, saying,
8เอเบดเมเลคก็ออกไปจากพระราชวังและทูลกษัตริย์ว่า
9My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he is likely to die in the place where he is, because of the famine; for there is no more bread in the city.
9"ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ผู้เป็นเจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ คนเหล่านี้ได้กระทำความชั่วร้ายในบรรดาการที่เขาได้กระทำต่อเยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์ โดยที่ได้ทิ้งท่านลงไปในคุกใต้ดิน ท่านคงหิวตายที่นั่น เพราะในกรุงนี้ไม่มีขนมปังเหลืออยู่เลย"
10Then the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Take from here thirty men with you, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he dies.
10แล้วกษัตริย์มีรับสั่งให้เอเบดเมเลคคนเอธิโอเปียว่า "จงเอาคนไปจากที่นี่กับเจ้าสามสิบคน แล้วฉุดเยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์ออกมาจากคุกใต้ดินก่อนเขาตาย"
11So Ebedmelech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took there rags and worn-out garments, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah.
11เอเบดเมเลคจึงเอาคนไปด้วยและไปที่พระราชวังไปยังเรือนพัสดุเพ่อเอาผ้าเก่าๆและเสื้อผ้าขาดๆ ซึ่งเขาเอาเชือกผูกหย่อนลงไปให้เยเรมีย์ที่ในคุกใต้ดิน
12Ebedmelech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah, Put now these rags and worn-out garments under your armpits under the cords. Jeremiah did so.
12แล้วเอเบดเมเลคคนเอธิโอเปียพูดกับเยเรมีย์ว่า "ท่านจงคล้องผ้าและเสื้อเก่านั้นไว้ใต้รักแร้และเชือก" เยเรมีย์กระทำตาม
13So they drew up Jeremiah with the cords, and took him up out of the dungeon: and Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.
13แล้วเขาก็ฉุดเยเรมีย์ขึ้นมาด้วยเชือก และยกท่านขึ้นมาจากคุกใต้ดิน และเยเรมีย์ก็ยังค้างอยู่ในบริเวณทหารรักษาพระองค์
14Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took Jeremiah the prophet to him into the third entry that is in the house of Yahweh: and the king said to Jeremiah, I will ask you something. Hide nothing from me.
14กษัตริย์เศเดคียาห์ทรงใช้คนไปนำเยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์มาที่ทางเข้าพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ช่องที่สาม กษัตริย์ตรัสกับเยเรมีย์ว่า "เราจะถามท่านสักข้อหนึ่ง ขออย่าปิดบังไว้จากเราเลย"
15Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, If I declare it to you, will you not surely put me to death? and if I give you counsel, you will not listen to me.
15เยเรมีย์จึงทูลเศเดคียาห์ว่า "ถ้าข้าพระองค์จะทูลพระองค์ พระองค์จะประหารข้าพระองค์แน่มิใช่หรือ และถ้าข้าพระองค์จะถวายคำปรึกษา พระองค์จะไม่ฟังข้าพระองค์มิใช่หรือ"
16So Zedekiah the king swore secretly to Jeremiah, saying, As Yahweh lives, who made us this soul, I will not put you to death, neither will I give you into the hand of these men who seek your life.
16แล้วกษัตริย์เศเดคียาห์ก็ทรงปฏิญาณแก่เยเรมีย์เป็นการลับว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ผู้ทรงสร้างวิญญาณของเราทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด เราจะไม่ประหารท่านหรือมอบท่านไว้ในมือของคนเหล่านี้ที่แสวงหาชีวิตของท่านฉันนั้น"
17Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, Thus says Yahweh, the God of Armies, the God of Israel: If you will go forth to the king of Babylon’s princes, then your soul shall live, and this city shall not be burned with fire; and you shall live, and your house.
17แล้วเยเรมีย์ทูลเศเดคียาห์ว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ พระเจ้าจอมโยธา พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลตรัสดังนี้ว่า ถ้าพระองค์จะยอมมอบตัวแก่พวกเจ้านายแห่งกษัตริย์บาบิโลนแล้ว เขาจะไว้ชีวิตของพระองค์ และกรุงนี้จะไม่ต้องถูกไฟเผา พระองค์และวงศ์วานของพระองค์จะมีชีวิตอยู่ได้
18But if you will not go forth to the king of Babylon’s princes, then shall this city be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they shall burn it with fire, and you shall not escape out of their hand.
18แต่ถ้าพระองค์ไม่ยอมมอบตัวแก่พวกเจ้านายแห่งกษัตริย์ของบาบิโลนแล้ว กรุงนี้จะต้องถูกมอบไว้ในมือของชนเคลเดีย และเขาทั้งหลายจะเอาไฟเผาเสีย และพระองค์จะหนีไม่รอดไปจากมือของเขาทั้งหลาย"
19Zedekiah the king said to Jeremiah, I am afraid of the Jews who are fallen away to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock me.
19กษัตริย์เศเดคียาห์จึงตรัสกับเยเรมีย์ว่า "เรากลัวพวกยิวซึ่งเล็ดลอดไปหาคนเคลเดีย เกรงว่าเราจะถูกมอบไว้ในมือของพวกเหล่านั้น และเขาทั้งหลายจะกระทำความอัปยศแก่เรา"
20But Jeremiah said, They shall not deliver you. Obey, I beg you, the voice of Yahweh, in that which I speak to you: so it shall be well with you, and your soul shall live.
20เยเรมีย์ทูลว่า "เขาจะไม่มอบพระองค์ไว้ ขอพระองค์เชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระเยโฮวาห์ตามสิ่งซึ่งข้าพระองค์ได้ทูลพระองค์ และพระองค์ก็จะเป็นสุข และเขาก็จะไว้พระชนม์ของพระองค์
21But if you refuse to go forth, this is the word that Yahweh has shown me:
21แต่ถ้าพระองค์ไม่ยอมมอบตัว ต่อไปนี้เป็นพระวจนะซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงสำแดงต่อข้าพระองค์
22behold, all the women who are left in the king of Judah’s house shall be brought forth to the king of Babylon’s princes, and those women shall say, Your familiar friends have set you on, and have prevailed over you. Your feet are sunk in the mire, they have turned away back.
22ดูเถิด บรรดาผู้หญิงที่เหลืออยู่ในวังของกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์จะได้ถูกนำออกไปให้พวกเจ้านายของกษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลน และผู้หญิงเหล่านั้นจะว่า `เพื่อนทั้งหลายของพระองค์ได้หลอกลวงพระองค์ และได้ชนะพระองค์แล้ว เมื่อพระบาทของพระองค์จมลงในโคลนแล้ว เขาทั้งหลายก็หันไปจากพระองค์'
23They shall bring out all your wives and your children to the Chaldeans; and you shall not escape out of their hand, but shall be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon: and you shall cause this city to be burned with fire.
23เขาจะพาบรรดาสนมและมเหสีและบุตรของพระองค์ไปให้คนเคลเดีย และพระองค์เองก็จะไม่ทรงรอดไปจากมือของเขาทั้งหลาย แต่พระองค์จะถูกจับกษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลนจับได้ และพระองค์จะเป็นเหตุที่พวกเขาเผากรุงนี้เสียด้วยไฟ"
24Then Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, Let no man know of these words, and you shall not die.
24แล้วเศเดคียาห์ตรัสกับเยเรมีย์ว่า "อย่าให้ผู้ใดรู้ถ้อยคำเหล่านี้ และท่านจะไม่ตาย
25But if the princes hear that I have talked with you, and they come to you, and tell you, Declare to us now what you have said to the king; don’t hide it from us, and we will not put you to death; also what the king said to you:
25ถ้าพวกเจ้านายได้ยินว่าเราได้พูดกับท่าน และมาหาท่านพูดว่า `จงบอกมาว่าเจ้าพูดอะไรกับกษัตริย์ และกษัตริย์ตรัสอะไรกับเจ้า อย่าซ่อนอะไรจากเราเลย และเราจะไม่ฆ่าเจ้า'
26then you shall tell them, I presented my supplication before the king, that he would not cause me to return to Jonathan’s house, to die there.
26ท่านจงบอกเขาทั้งหลายว่า `ข้าพเจ้าได้ทูลขอต่อพระพักตร์กษัตริย์มิให้พระองค์ทรงส่งข้าพเจ้ากลับไปที่เรือนของโยนาธานเพื่อให้ตายเสียที่นั่น'"
27Then came all the princes to Jeremiah, and asked him; and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they left off speaking with him; for the matter was not perceived.
27และเจ้านายทั้งปวงก็มาหาเยเรมีย์และซักถามท่าน และท่านก็ตอบเขาตามบรรดาถ้อยคำเหล่านี้ที่กษัตริย์ทรงรับสั่งท่าน เขาทั้งหลายจึงหยุดถามท่าน เพราะการสนทนานั้นไม่มีใครได้ยิน
28So Jeremiah stayed in the court of the guard until the day that Jerusalem was taken.
28และเยเรมีย์ก็ค้างอยู่ในบริเวณทหารรักษาพระองค์จนถึงวันที่เยรูซาเล็มถูกยึด ท่านอยู่ในที่นั่นเมื่อเยรูซาเล็มถูกยึด
