1Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned as king, instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
1เศเดคียาห์ราชบุตรของโยสิยาห์ ผู้ซึ่งเนบูคัดเนสซาร์กษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลนได้ตั้งให้เป็นกษัตริย์ในแผ่นดินยูดาห์ ได้เสวยราชย์แทนโคนิยาห์ราชบุตรของเยโฮยาคิม
2But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, listened to the words of Yahweh, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.
2แต่ท่านเองก็ดี หรือข้าราชการของท่านก็ดี หรือประชาชนแห่งแผ่นดินก็ดี หาได้ฟังพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ ซึ่งพระองค์ตรัสโดยเยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์ไม่
3Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now to Yahweh our God for us.
3กษัตริย์เศเดคียาห์ทรงใช้เยฮูคัลบุตรชายเชเลมิยาห์ และเศฟันยาห์ปุโรหิตบุตรชายมาอาเสอาห์ให้ไปยังเยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์ กล่าวว่า "ขออธิษฐานต่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเราเผื่อเรา"
4Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people; for they had not put him into prison.
4ฝ่ายเยเรมีย์นั้นยังเข้านอกออกในท่ามกลางประชาชนอยู่ เพราะท่านยังมิได้ถูกจำขัง
5Pharaoh’s army had come forth out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news of them, they broke up from Jerusalem.
5กองทัพของฟาโรห์ได้ออกมาจากอียิปต์ และเมื่อคนเคลเดียผู้ซึ่งกำลังล้อมกรุงเยรูซาเล็มอยู่ได้ยินข่าวนั้น เขาทั้งหลายก็ถอยทัพไปจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม
6Then came the word of Yahweh to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
6พระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มายังเยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์ว่า
7Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, You shall tell the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me: Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which has come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.
7"พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลตรัสดังนี้ว่า เจ้าจงไปบอกกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ ผู้ซึ่งใช้เจ้ามาถามต่อเราว่า `ดูเถิด กองทัพของฟาโรห์ซึ่งได้มาช่วยเจ้ากำลังจะกลับไปอียิปต์ ไปยังแผ่นดินของเขา
8The Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city; and they shall take it, and burn it with fire.
8และคนเคลเดียจะกลับมาต่อสู้กับกรุงนี้อีก เขาทั้งหลายจะยึดไว้และเผาเสียด้วยไฟ
9Thus says Yahweh, Don’t deceive yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us; for they shall not depart.
9พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า อย่าล่อลวงตัวเจ้าโดยกล่าวว่า "คนเคลเดียจะถอยออกไปจากเราทีเดียวแน่" เพราะว่าเขาจะไม่ถอยออกไปเลยทีเดียว
10For though you had struck the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yes would they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.
10ถึงแม้ว่าเจ้ากระทำให้กองทัพทั้งสิ้นของคนเคลเดียที่กำลังต่อสู้เจ้าให้พ่ายแพ้ และมีเหลือแต่คนที่บาดเจ็บเท่านั้น เขาทั้งหลายจะลุกขึ้น ทุกคนในเต็นท์ของเขา และเผากรุงนี้เสียด้วยไฟ'"
11It happened that, when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,
11ต่อมาเมื่อกองทัพของคนเคลเดียได้ถอยจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม เพราะกองทัพของฟาโรห์เข้ามาประชิด
12then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive his portion there, in the midst of the people.
12เยเรมีย์ก็ออกไปจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็มมุ่งไปยังแผ่นดินเบนยามิน เพื่อจะรับส่วนของท่านท่ามกลางประชาชนที่นั่น
13When he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he laid hold on Jeremiah the prophet, saying, You are falling away to the Chaldeans.
13เมื่อท่านอยู่ที่ประตูเบนยามิน ทหารยามคนหนึ่งอยู่ที่นั่น ชื่ออิรียาห์บุตรชายเชเลมิยาห์ ผู้เป็นบุตรชายฮานันยาห์ได้จับเยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์กล่าวว่า "ท่านกำลังหนีไปหาคนเคลเดีย"
14Then Jeremiah said, It is false; I am not falling away to the Chaldeans. But he didn’t listen to him; so Irijah laid hold on Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
14และเยเรมีย์ตอบว่า "ไม่จริงเลย ข้าพเจ้ามิได้กำลังหนีไปหาคนเคลเดีย" แต่อิรียาห์ไม่ฟังท่าน และจับเยเรมีย์นำมาหาพวกเจ้านาย
15The princes were angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison.
15และบรรดาเจ้านายก็เดือดดาลต่อเยเรมีย์ และเขาทั้งหลายก็ตีท่านและขังท่านไว้ในเรือนของโยนาธานเลขานุการ เพราะได้ทำให้เป็นคุก
16When Jeremiah had come into the dungeon house, and into the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;
16เมื่อเยเรมีย์เข้าไปในคุกใต้ดินและในห้องเล็กแล้ว เยเรมีย์ก็ค้างอยู่ที่นั่นหลายวันแล้ว
17Then Zedekiah the king sent, and fetched him: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from Yahweh? Jeremiah said, There is. He said also, You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.
17กษัตริย์เศเดคียาห์ใช้ให้คนไปเอาตัวท่านออกมา กษัตริย์ได้สอบถามท่านเป็นความลับที่ในพระราชวังว่า "มีพระวจนะอันใดมาจากพระเยโฮวาห์บ้างหรือ" เยเรมีย์ทูลว่า "มีพ่ะย่ะค่ะ" แล้วท่านทูลอีกว่า "พระองค์จะถูกมอบไว้ในมือของกษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลน"
18Moreover Jeremiah said to king Zedekiah, Wherein have I sinned against you, or against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?
18เยเรมีย์ได้ทูลกษัตริย์เศเดคียาห์อีกว่า "ข้าพระองค์ได้กระทำอะไรผิดต่อพระองค์ หรือต่อข้าราชการของพระองค์ หรือต่อชนชาตินี้ พระองค์จึงได้จำขังข้าพระองค์ไว้ในคุก
19Where now are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
19ผู้พยากรณ์ของพระองค์ผู้ได้พยากรณ์ให้พระองค์ว่า `กษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลนจะไม่มาต่อสู้พระองค์ หรือต่อสู้แผ่นดินนี้' นั้นอยู่ที่ไหน
20Now please hear, my lord the king: please let my supplication be presented before you, that you not cause me to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
20บัดนี้ ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ผู้เป็นเจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ ขอพระองค์สดับฟัง ขอคำทูลของข้าพระองค์เป็นที่โปรดปรานต่อพระพักตร์ของพระองค์ ขออย่าส่งข้าพระองค์กลับไปที่เรือนของโยนาธานเลขานุการนั้นเลย เกรงว่าข้าพระองค์จะตายเสียที่นั่น"
21Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard; and they gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.
21กษัตริย์เศเดคียาห์จึงมีรับสั่งให้เขามอบเยเรมีย์ไว้ที่บริเวณทหารรักษาพระองค์ และเขาให้ขนมปังแก่ท่านวันละก้อนจากถนนช่างทำขนมจนขนมปังในกรุงนั้นหมด เยเรมีย์จึงค้างอยู่ในบริเวณทหารรักษาพระองค์อย่างนั้น
