¹It happened in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, that this word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

¹ต่อมาในปีที่สี่แห่งรัชกาลเยโฮยาคิม ราชบุตรของโยสิยาห์ กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ พระวจนะต่อไปนี้มาจากพระเยโฮวาห์ถึงเยเรมีย์ว่า

²Take a scroll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah, even to this day.

²"เจ้าจงเอาหนังสือม้วนม้วนหนึ่ง และเขียนถ้อยคำนี้ทั้งสิ้นลงไว้ เป็นคำที่เราได้พูดกับเจ้าปรักปรำอิสราเอลและยูดาห์ และบรรดาประชาชาติทั้งสิ้น ตั้งแต่วันที่เราได้พูดกับเจ้า ตั้งแต่รัชกาลโยสิยาห์จนถึงวันนี้

³It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do to them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

³ชะรอยวงศ์วานยูดาห์จะได้ยินถึงความร้ายทั้งสิ้นซึ่งเราประสงค์จะกระทำแก่เขาทั้งปวง เพื่อว่าทุกคนจะหันกลับจากทางชั่วร้ายของเขา และเพื่อเราจะอภัยโทษความชั่วช้าของเขาและบาปของเขา"

⁴Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of Yahweh, which he had spoken to him, on a scroll of a book.

⁴แล้วเยเรมีย์จึงเรียกบารุคบุตรชายเนริยาห์ให้บารุคเขียนพระวจนะทั้งสิ้นของพระเยโฮวาห์ซึ่งพระองค์ตรัสแก่เยเรมีย์ ตามคำบอกของท่านไว้ในหนังสือม้วน

⁵Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I can’t go into the house of Yahweh:

⁵และเยเรมีย์ก็สั่งบารุคว่า "ข้าพเจ้าถูกห้ามไม่ให้ไปยังพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์

⁶therefore you go, and read in the scroll, which you have written from my mouth, the words of Yahweh in the ears of the people in Yahweh’s house on the fast day; and also you shall read them in the ears of all Judah who come out of their cities.

⁶ฉะนั้นเจ้าต้องไป และในวันถืออดอาหาร เจ้าจงอ่านพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์จากหนังสือม้วน ซึ่งเจ้าเขียนไว้ตามคำบอกของเราให้ประชาชนทั้งสิ้นในพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ยิน เจ้าจงอ่านให้คนทั้งปวงแห่งยูดาห์ ผู้ออกมาจากหัวเมืองของเขาให้เขาได้ยินด้วย

⁷It may be they will present their supplication before Yahweh, and will return everyone from his evil way; for great is the anger and the wrath that Yahweh has pronounced against this people.

⁷ชะรอยเขาจะถวายคำทูลวิงวอนของเขาต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์ และทุกคนจะหันกลับจากทางชั่วของตัว เพราะความกริ้วและความพิโรธซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงประกาศเป็นโทษเหนือชนชาตินี้นั้นใหญ่หลวงนัก"

⁸Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of Yahweh in Yahweh’s house.

⁸และบารุคบุตรชายเนริยาห์ได้กระทำทุกอย่างตามซึ่งเยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์สั่งเขา ถึงเรื่องให้อ่านพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์จากหนังสือม้วนในพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์

⁹Now it happened in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem, proclaimed a fast before Yahweh.

⁹ต่อมาในปีที่ห้าแห่งรัชกาลเยโฮยาคิม ราชบุตรของโยสิยาห์ กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ ณ เดือนที่เก้า เขาได้ป่าวร้องแก่ประชาชนทั้งสิ้นในกรุงเยรูซาเล็มและประชาชนทั้งสิ้นผู้มาจากหัวเมืองแห่งยูดาห์ยังกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม ให้ถืออดอาหารต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์

¹⁰Then read Baruch in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of Yahweh, in the room of Gemariah the son of Shaphan, the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the new gate of Yahweh’s house, in the ears of all the people.

¹⁰แล้วบารุคจึงได้อ่านถ้อยคำของเยเรมีย์จากหนังสือม้วนให้ประชาชนทั้งสิ้นฟัง ในพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ ในห้องเฉลียงของเกมาริยาห์ บุตรชายชาฟาน ผู้เป็นเลขานุการ ซึ่งอยู่ในลานบนตรงทางเข้าของประตูใหม่แห่งพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์

¹¹When Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of Yahweh,

¹¹เมื่อมีคายาห์ บุตรชายเกมาริยาห์ ผู้เป็นบุตรชายชาฟาน ได้ยินพระวจนะทั้งสิ้นของพระเยโฮวาห์จากหนังสือม้วนแล้ว

¹²he went down into the king’s house, into the scribe’s room: and behold, all the princes were sitting there, Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.

¹²ท่านได้ลงมาที่พระราชวังของกษัตริย์เข้าไปในห้องราชเลขา และดูเถิด เจ้านายทั้งสิ้นก็นั่งอยู่ที่นั่น คือเอลีชามาราชเลขา เดไลยาห์บุตรชายเชไมอาห์ เอลนาธันบุตรชายอัคโบร์ เกมาริยาห์บุตรชายชาฟาน เศเดคียาห์บุตรชายฮานันยาห์ และบรรดาเจ้านายทั้งสิ้น

¹³Then Micaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.

¹³และมีคายาห์ก็เล่าถ้อยคำทั้งสิ้นซึ่งท่านได้ยิน เมื่อบารุคอ่านจากหนังสือม้วนให้ประชาชนฟังนั้น

¹⁴Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, Take in your hand the scroll in which you have read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand, and came to them.

¹⁴เหตุดังนั้นบรรดาเจ้านายจึงใช้เยฮูดีบุตรชายเนธานิยาห์ ผู้เป็นบุตรชายของเชเลมิยาห์ ผู้เป็นบุตรชายของคูชี ให้ไปพูดกับบารุคว่า "จงถือหนังสือม้วนซึ่งเจ้าอ่านให้ประชาชนฟังนั้นมา" ดังนั้นบารุคบุตรชายเนริยาห์จึงถือหนังสือม้วนนั้นมาหาเขาทั้งหลาย

¹⁵They said to him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read it in their ears.

¹⁵และเขาทั้งหลายจึงพูดกับเขาว่า "จงนั่งลงอ่านหนังสือนั้นให้เราฟัง" บารุคจึงอ่านให้เขาฟัง

¹⁶Now it happened, when they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said to Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words.

¹⁶ต่อมาเมื่อเขาได้ยินคำทั้งหมดนั้นก็หันมาหากันด้วยความกลัว เขาทั้งหลายจึงพูดกับบารุคว่า "เราจะต้องบอกบรรดาถ้อยคำเหล่านี้ต่อกษัตริย์"

¹⁷They asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How did you write all these words at his mouth?

¹⁷แล้วเขาทั้งหลายจึงถามบารุคว่า "จงบอกเราว่า เจ้าเขียนถ้อยคำเหล่านี้ทั้งสิ้นอย่างไร เขียนตามคำบอกของเขาหรือ"

¹⁸Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words to me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.

¹⁸บารุคตอบเขาทั้งหลายว่า "ท่านได้บอกถ้อยคำเหล่านี้ทั้งสิ้นแก่ข้าพเจ้า ฝ่ายข้าพเจ้าก็เขียนมันไว้ด้วยหมึกในหนังสือม้วน"

¹⁹Then the princes said to Baruch, Go, hide, you and Jeremiah; and let no man know where you are.

¹⁹แล้วเจ้านายทั้งหลายบอกบารุคว่า "ทั้งเจ้าและเยเรมีย์จงไปซ่อนเสีย อย่าให้ผู้ใดทราบว่าเจ้าอยู่ที่ไหน"

²⁰They went in to the king into the court; but they had laid up the scroll in the room of Elishama the scribe; and they told all the words in the ears of the king.

²⁰แล้วเขาทั้งหลายก็เข้าไปในท้องพระโรงเพื่อเฝ้ากษัตริย์ เมื่อเอาหนังสือม้วนเก็บไว้ในห้องของเอลีชามาราชเลขาแล้ว เขาก็กราบทูลถ้อยคำทั้งสิ้นนั้นแก่กษัตริย์

²¹So the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll; and he took it out of the room of Elishama the scribe. Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes who stood beside the king.

²¹กษัตริย์ก็รับสั่งให้เยฮูดีไปเอาหนังสือม้วนนั้นมา เขาก็ไปเอามาจากห้องของเอลีชามาราชเลขา และเยฮูดีก็อ่านถวายกษัตริย์และแก่บรรดาเจ้านายทั้งสิ้นผู้ยืนอยู่ข้างๆกษัตริย์

²²Now the king was sitting in the winter house in the ninth month: and there was a fire in the brazier burning before him.

²²เวลานั้นเป็นเดือนที่เก้า กษัตริย์ประทับอยู่ในพระราชวังเหมันต์ และมีไฟลุกอยู่ในโถไฟหน้าพระพักตร์

²³It happened, when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, that the king cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.

²³ต่อมาเมื่อเยฮูดีอ่านไปได้สามหรือสี่แถบ กษัตริย์ทรงเอามีดอาลักษณ์ตัดออก และทรงโยนเข้าไปในไฟที่ในโถไฟ จนหนังสือม้วนนั้นถูกไฟที่ในโถไฟเผาผลาญหมด

²⁴They were not afraid, nor tore their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants who heard all these words.

²⁴ถึงกระนั้นกษัตริย์หรือข้าราชการของพระองค์ผู้ได้ยินบรรดาถ้อยคำเหล่านี้หาได้เกรงกลัวหรือฉีกเสื้อผ้าของตนไม่

²⁵Moreover Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the scroll; but he would not hear them.

²⁵แม้ว่าเมื่อเอลนาธันและเดลายาห์และเกมาริยาห์ ได้ทูลวิงวอนกษัตริย์มิให้พระองค์ทรงเผาหนังสือม้วน พระองค์หาทรงฟังไม่

²⁶The king commanded Jerahmeel the king’s son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but Yahweh hid them.

²⁶กษัตริย์ทรงบัญชาให้เยราเมเอลบุตรชายฮามเมเลค และเสไรอาห์บุตรชายอัสรีเอล และเชเลมิยาห์บุตรชายอับเดเอล ให้จับบารุคเสมียนและเยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์ แต่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงซ่อนท่านทั้งสองเสีย

²⁷Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the scroll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,

²⁷หลังจากที่กษัตริย์ทรงเผาหนังสือม้วนอันมีถ้อยคำซึ่งบารุคเขียนตามคำบอกของเยเรมีย์แล้ว พระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มายังเยเรมีย์ว่า

²⁸Take again another scroll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first scroll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned.

²⁸"จงเอาหนังสือม้วนอีกม้วนหนึ่งและจงเขียนถ้อยคำแรกซึ่งอยู่ในหนังสือม้วนก่อนลงไว้ทั้งหมด คือซึ่งเยโฮยาคิมกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ทรงเผาเสียนั้น

²⁹Concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, Thus says Yahweh: You have burned this scroll, saying, Why have you written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from there man and animal?

²⁹และเกี่ยวกับเรื่องเยโฮยาคิมกษัตริย์ยูดาห์นั้นเจ้าจงกล่าวดังนี้ว่า `พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า ท่านได้เผาหนังสือม้วนนี้เสียและกล่าวว่า ทำไมเจ้าจึงได้เขียนไว้ในนั้นว่า "กษัตริย์บาบิโลนจะมาทำลายแผ่นดินนี้เป็นแน่ และจะตัดมนุษย์และสัตว์ออกเสียจากแผ่นดินนั้น"

³⁰Therefore thus says Yahweh concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: He shall have none to sit on the throne of David; and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.

³⁰เพราะฉะนั้น พระเยโฮวาห์จึงตรัสดังนี้เกี่ยวด้วยเยโฮยาคิมกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ว่า เยโฮยาคิมจะไม่มีบุตรที่จะประทับบนพระที่นั่งของดาวิด และศพของท่านจะถูกทิ้งไว้ให้ตากแดดกลางวัน และตากน้ำค้างแข็งเวลากลางคืน

³¹I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring on them, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and on the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they didn’t listen.

³¹เราจะลงโทษท่านและเชื้อสายของท่านและข้าราชการของท่าน เพราะความชั่วช้าของเขาทั้งหลาย เราจะนำเหตุร้ายทั้งสิ้นที่เราได้ประกาศต่อพวกเขา แต่เขาไม่ฟังนั้น ให้ตกลงบนเขา และบนชาวกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และบนคนยูดาห์'"

³²Then took Jeremiah another scroll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and there were added besides to them many like words.

³²แล้วเยเรมีย์จึงเอาหนังสือม้วนอีกม้วนหนึ่ง มอบให้บารุคบุตรชายเนริยาห์เสมียน ผู้เขียนถ้อยคำทั้งสิ้นในนั้นตามคำบอกของเยเรมีย์ คือถ้อยคำทั้งสิ้นในหนังสือม้วนซึ่งเยโฮยาคิมกษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ได้เผาเสียในไฟ และมีถ้อยคำเป็นอันมากที่คล้ายคลึงกันเพิ่มขึ้น
