¹Then all the captains of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least even to the greatest, came near,

¹บรรดาหัวหน้าของกองทหารและโยฮานันบุตรชายคาเรอาห์ และเยซันยาห์บุตรชายโฮชายาห์ และประชาชนทั้งปวงจากผู้น้อยที่สุดถึงผู้ใหญ่ที่สุดได้เข้ามาใกล้

²and said to Jeremiah the prophet, Please let our supplication be presented before you, and pray for us to Yahweh your God, even for all this remnant; for we are left but a few of many, as your eyes do see us:

²และพูดกับเยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์ว่า "ขอให้คำอ้อนวอนของข้าพเจ้าทั้งหลายเป็นที่ยอมรับต่อหน้าท่าน และขอท่านอธิษฐานต่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านเพื่อเราทั้งหลาย เพื่อคนที่เหลืออยู่นี้ทั้งสิ้น (เพราะเรามีเหลือน้อยจากคนมาก ตามที่ท่านเห็นอยู่กับตาแล้ว)

³that Yahweh your God may show us the way in which we should walk, and the thing that we should do.

³ขอพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านสำแดงหนทางแก่เราว่า เราควรจะไปทางไหน และขอสำแดงสิ่งที่เราควรจะกระทำ"

⁴Then Jeremiah the prophet said to them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray to Yahweh your God according to your words; and it shall happen that whatever thing Yahweh shall answer you, I will declare it to you; I will keep nothing back from you.

⁴เยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์กล่าวแก่เขาทั้งหลายว่า "ข้าพเจ้าได้ยินท่านแล้ว ดูเถิด ข้าพเจ้าจะอธิษฐานต่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านตามคำขอร้องของท่านทั้งหลาย และต่อมาพระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงตอบท่านประการใด ข้าพเจ้าจะบอกแก่ท่าน ข้าพเจ้าจะไม่ปิดบังสิ่งใดไว้จากท่านเลย"

⁵Then they said to Jeremiah, Yahweh be a true and faithful witness among us, if we don’t do according to all the word with which Yahweh your God shall send you to us.

⁵แล้วเขาทั้งหลายพูดกับเยเรมีย์ว่า "ขอพระเยโฮวาห์จงเป็นพยานที่สัตย์จริงและสัตย์ซื่อในระหว่างข้าพเจ้าทั้งหลาย ถ้าข้าพเจ้าทั้งหลายมิได้กระทำตามบรรดาพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านผู้ทรงใช้ท่าน

⁶Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of Yahweh our God, to whom we send you; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of Yahweh our God.

⁶ไม่ว่าจะดีหรือร้าย ข้าพเจ้าทั้งหลายจะเชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเรา ผู้ซึ่งข้าพเจ้าทั้งหลายส่งท่านให้ไปหานั้น เพื่อเราจะอยู่เย็นเป็นสุข เมื่อเราเชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเรา"

⁷It happened after ten days, that the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah.

⁷ต่อมาครั้นสิ้นสิบวันแล้วพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มายังเยเรมีย์

⁸Then called he Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest,

⁸แล้วท่านจึงให้ตามตัวโยฮานันบุตรชายคาเรอาห์ และบรรดาผู้หัวหนัาของกองทหารผู้อยู่กับท่าน และประชาชนทั้งปวงตั้งแต่คนเล็กที่สุดถึงคนใหญ่ที่สุด

⁹and said to them, Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your supplication before him:

⁹และบอกเขาทั้งหลายว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ผู้ซึ่งท่านได้ใช้ให้ข้าพเจ้านำเอาคำอ้อนวอนของท่านไปเสนอต่อพระพักตร์พระองค์นั้น ได้ตรัสดังนี้ว่า

¹⁰If you will still live in this land, then will I build you, and not pull you down, and I will plant you, and not pluck you up; for I grieve over the distress that I have brought on you.

¹⁰ถ้าเจ้าทั้งหลายจะอยู่ต่อไปในแผ่นดินนี้ เราจะสร้างเจ้าทั้งหลายขึ้นและไม่ทำลายลง เราจะปลูกเจ้าไว้และไม่ถอนเจ้าเสีย เพราะเราได้กลับใจจากเหตุร้ายซึ่งเราได้กระทำไปแล้ว

¹¹Don’t be afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid; don’t be afraid of him, says Yahweh: for I am with you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand.

¹¹อย่ากลัวกษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลนผู้ซึ่งเจ้ากลัวอยู่นั้น พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า อย่ากลัวเขาเลย เพราะเราอยู่กับเจ้าทั้งหลายเพื่อช่วยเจ้าให้รอด และช่วยเจ้าให้พ้นจากมือของเขา

¹²I will grant you mercy, that he may have mercy on you, and cause you to return to your own land.

¹²เราจะให้ความกรุณาแก่เจ้า เพื่อเขาจะได้กรุณาเจ้า และยอมให้เจ้ากลับไปอยู่ในแผ่นดินของเจ้าเอง

¹³But if you say, We will not dwell in this land; so that you don’t obey the voice of Yahweh your God,

¹³แต่ถ้าเจ้าทั้งหลายพูดว่า `เราจะไม่อยู่ในแผ่นดินนี้' โดยไม่เชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเจ้า

¹⁴saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we dwell:

¹⁴และกล่าวว่า `ไม่เอา เราจะเข้าไปในแผ่นดินอียิปต์ ที่ซึ่งเราจะไม่เห็นสงคราม จะไม่ได้ยินเสียงแตร จะไม่หิวขนมปัง และเราทั้งหลายจะอาศัยอยู่ที่นั่น'

¹⁵now therefore hear the word of Yahweh, O remnant of Judah: Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, If you indeed set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to live there;

¹⁵เพราะฉะนั้น บัดนี้ คนยูดาห์ที่เหลืออยู่เอ๋ย ขอฟังพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระเจ้าของอิสราเอล ตรัสดังนี้ว่า ถ้าเจ้ามุ่งหน้าจะเข้าอียิปต์และไปอาศัยที่นั่น

¹⁶then it shall happen, that the sword, which you fear, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt; and the famine, about which you are afraid, shall follow close behind you there in Egypt; and there you shall die.

¹⁶แล้วต่อมาดาบซึ่งเจ้ากลัวอยู่นั้นจะตามทันเจ้าที่นั่นในแผ่นดินอียิปต์ และการกันดารอาหารซึ่งเจ้ากลัวอยู่นั้นจะติดตามเจ้าไปถึงอียิปต์และเจ้าจะตายที่นั่น

¹⁷So shall it be with all the men who set their faces to go into Egypt to live there: they shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring on them.

¹⁷ทุกคนซึ่งมุ่งหน้าไปยังอียิปต์ เพื่อจะอยู่ที่นั่นจะตายเสียด้วยดาบ ด้วยการกันดารอาหาร ด้วยโรคระบาด เขาจะไม่มีคนที่เหลืออยู่หรือที่รอดตายจากเหตุร้ายซึ่งเราจะนำมาเหนือเขา

¹⁸For thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: As my anger and my wrath has been poured forth on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so shall my wrath be poured forth on you, when you shall enter into Egypt; and you shall be an object of horror, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and you shall see this place no more.

¹⁸เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ตรัสดังนี้ว่า เราเทความกริ้วของเราและความพิโรธของเราลงเหนือชาวเยรูซาเล็มอย่างไร เราจะเทความกริ้วของเราเหนือเจ้าทั้งหลายเมื่อเจ้าจะเข้าไปยังอียิปต์อย่างนั้น เจ้าจะเป็นคำสาป เป็นที่น่าตกตะลึง เป็นคำแช่งและเป็นที่นินทา เจ้าจะไม่เห็นที่นี่อีก

¹⁹Yahweh has spoken concerning you, remnant of Judah, Don’t you go into Egypt: know certainly that I have testified to you this day.

¹⁹คนยูดาห์ที่ยังเหลืออยู่เอ๋ย พระเยโฮวาห์ได้ตรัสเกี่ยวกับท่านแล้วว่า `อย่าไปยังอียิปต์' จงรู้เป็นแน่ว่า ในวันนี้ข้าพเจ้าได้ตักเตือนท่าน

²⁰For you have dealt deceitfully against your own souls; for you sent me to Yahweh your God, saying, Pray for us to Yahweh our God; and according to all that Yahweh our God shall say, so declare to us, and we will do it:

²⁰ว่าท่านทั้งหลายได้หลงเจิ่นไปในใจของท่านเอง เพราะท่านได้ใช้ข้าพเจ้าไปหาพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านว่า `ขออธิษฐานเพื่อเราต่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเรา และพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเราจะตรัสประการใด ขอบอกแก่เรา และเราจะกระทำตาม'

²¹and I have this day declared it to you; but you have not obeyed the voice of Yahweh your God in anything for which he has sent me to you.

²¹และในวันนี้ข้าพเจ้าได้ประกาศพระวจนะนั้นแก่ท่านทั้งหลายแล้ว แต่ท่านมิได้เชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านในสิ่งใดๆซึ่งพระองค์ทรงใช้ข้าพเจ้ามาบอกท่าน

²²Now therefore know certainly that you shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place where you desire to go to live there.

²²เพราะฉะนั้นบัดนี้จงทราบเป็นแน่ว่า ท่านทั้งหลายจะตายด้วยดาบ ด้วยการกันดารอาหาร และด้วยโรคระบาด ในสถานที่ซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายปรารถนาจะไปอาศัยอยู่"
