¹The word of Yahweh which came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the nations.

²Of Egypt: concerning the army of Pharaoh Necoh king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon struck in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah.

²เรื่องอียิปต์ เกี่ยวด้วยกองทัพของฟาโรห์เนโค กษัตริย์แห่งอียิปต์ ซึ่งอยู่ที่ริมแม่น้ำยูเฟรติส ที่เมืองคารเคมิช และซึ่งเนบูคัดเนสซาร์ กษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลนได้โจมตีแตกในปีที่สี่แห่งรัชกาลเยโฮยาคิมราชบุตรของโยสิยาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ว่า

³Prepare the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle!

⁴Harness the horses, and get up, you horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets; furbish the spears, put on the coats of mail.

⁴จงผูกอานม้า พลม้าเอ๋ย จงขึ้นม้าเถิด จงสวมหมวกเหล็กของเจ้าเข้าประจำที่ จงขัดหอกของเจ้า จงสวมเสื้อเกราะของเจ้าไว้

⁵Why have I seen it? they are dismayed and are turned backward; and their mighty ones are beaten down, and have fled apace, and don’t look back: terror is on every side, says Yahweh.

⁵ทำไมเราเห็นเขาทั้งหลายครั่นคร้ามและหันหลับกลับ นักรบของเขาทั้งหลายถูกตีล้มลงและได้เร่งหนีไป เขาทั้งหลายไม่เหลียวกลับ ความสยดสยองอยู่ทุกด้าน พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

⁶Don’t let the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; in the north by the river Euphrates have they stumbled and fallen.

⁶คนเร็วก็หนีไปไม่ได้ นักรบก็หนีไปไม่รอด เขาทั้งหลายจะสะดุดและล้มลงในแดนเหนือข้างแม่น้ำยูเฟรติส

⁷Who is this who rises up like the Nile, whose waters toss themselves like the rivers?

⁷นี่ใครนะ โผล่ขึ้นมาดั่งน้ำท่วม เหมือนแม่น้ำซึ่งน้ำของมันซัดขึ้น

⁸Egypt rises up like the Nile, and his waters toss themselves like the rivers: and he says, I will rise up, I will cover the earth; I will destroy cities and its inhabitants.

⁸อียิปต์โผล่ขึ้นมาอย่างน้ำท่วม เหมือนแม่น้ำของมันซัดขึ้น เขาว่า `ข้าจะขึ้น ข้าจะคลุกโลก ข้าจะทำลายหัวเมืองและชาวเมืองนั้นเสีย'

⁹Go up, you horses; and rage, you chariots; and let the mighty men go forth: Cush and Put, who handle the shield; and the Ludim, who handle and bend the bow.

⁹ม้าทั้งหลายเอ๋ย รุดหน้าไปเถิด รถรบทั้งหลายเอ๋ย เดือดดาลเข้าเถิด จงให้นักรบออกไป คือคนเอธิโอเปียและคนพูต ผู้ถือโล่ คนลูดิม นักถือและโก่งธนู

¹⁰For that day is of the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour and be satiate, and shall drink its fill of their blood; for the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.

¹⁰วันนี้เป็นวันแห่งองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าจอมโยธา เป็นวันแห่งการแก้แค้นที่จะแก้แค้นศัตรูของพระองค์ ดาบจะกินจนอิ่ม และดื่มโลหิตของเขาจนเต็มคราบ เพราะองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าจอมโยธาทำการบูชาในแดนเหนือข้างแม่น้ำยูเฟรติส

¹¹Go up into Gilead, and take balm, virgin daughter of Egypt: in vain do you use many medicines; there is no healing for you.

¹²The nations have heard of your shame, and the earth is full of your cry; for the mighty man has stumbled against the mighty, they are fallen both of them together.

¹²บรรดาประชาชาติได้ยินถึงความอายของเจ้า และแผ่นดินก็เต็มด้วยเสียงร้องของเจ้า เพราะว่านักรบสะดุดกัน เขาทั้งหลายได้ล้มลงด้วยกัน"

¹³The word that Yahweh spoke to Jeremiah the prophet, how that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon should come and strike the land of Egypt.

¹³พระวจนะซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับเยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์ เรื่องการมาของเนบูคัดเนสซาร์กษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลน เพื่อจะโจมตีแผ่นดินอียิปต์ ว่า

¹⁴Declare in Egypt, and publish in Migdol, and publish in Memphis and in Tahpanhes: say, Stand forth, and prepare; for the sword has devoured around you.

¹⁴"จงประกาศในอียิปต์ และป่าวร้องในมิกดล จงป่าวร้องในโนฟและทาปานเหส จงกล่าวว่า ยืนให้พร้อมไว้และเตรียมตัวพร้อม เพราะว่าดาบจะกินอยู่รอบตัวเจ้า

¹⁵Why are your strong ones swept away? they didn’t stand, because Yahweh pushed them.

¹⁵ทำไมชายที่กล้าหาญของเจ้าจึงหนีเสียเล่า พวกเขาไม่ยืนมั่นอยู่ เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงผลักเขาล้มลง

¹⁶He made many to stumble, yes, they fell one on another: and they said, Arise, and let us go again to our own people, and to the land of our birth, from the oppressing sword.

¹⁷They cried there, Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a noise; he has let the appointed time pass by.

¹⁸As I live, says the King, whose name is Yahweh of Armies, surely like Tabor among the mountains, and like Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.

¹⁹You daughter who dwells in Egypt, furnish yourself to go into captivity; for Memphis shall become a desolation, and shall be burnt up, without inhabitant.

¹⁹โอ ธิดาผู้อาศัยในอียิปต์เอ๋ย จงเตรียมข้าวของสำหรับตัวเจ้าเพื่อการถูกกวาดไปเป็นเชลย เพราะว่าเมืองโนฟจะถูกทิ้งไว้เสียเปล่าๆ และรกร้าง ปราศจากคนอาศัย

²⁰Egypt is a very beautiful heifer; but destruction out of the north has come, it has come.

²⁰อียิปต์เป็นเหมือนวัวสาวตัวงาม แต่การทำลายจากทิศเหนือมาจับเธอ

²¹Also her hired men in the midst of her are like calves of the stall; for they also are turned back, they are fled away together, they didn’t stand: for the day of their calamity has come on them, the time of their visitation.

²¹ทหารรับจ้างที่อยู่ท่ามกลางเธอ ก็เหมือนลูกวัวที่ได้ขุนไว้ให้อ้วน เออ ด้วยเขาทั้งหลายหันกลับและหนีไปด้วยกัน เขาทั้งหลายไม่ยอมยืนหยัด เพราะวันแห่งหายนะของเขาได้มาเหนือเขาทั้งหลาย และเป็นเวลาแห่งการลงโทษเขา

²²The sound of it shall go like the serpent; for they shall march with an army, and come against her with axes, as wood cutters.

²³They shall cut down her forest, says Yahweh, though it can’t be searched; because they are more than the locusts, and are innumerable.

²⁴The daughter of Egypt shall be disappointed; she shall be delivered into the hand of the people of the north.

²⁵Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: Behold, I will punish Amon of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with her gods, and her kings; even Pharaoh, and those who trust in him:

²⁵พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ตรัสว่า "ดูเถิด เราจะนำการลงโทษมาเหนือเหล่าฝูงชนของโนและฟาโรห์ และอียิปต์และบรรดาพระและกษัตริย์ทั้งปวงของเมืองนั้น ลงเหนือฟาโรห์และคนทั้งหลายที่วางใจในท่าน

²⁶and I will deliver them into the hand of those who seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants; and afterwards it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, says Yahweh.

²⁶เราจะมอบเขาทั้งหลายไว้ในมือของบรรดาผู้ที่แสวงหาชีวิตของเขา ในมือของเนบูคัดเนสซาร์ กษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลน และในมือข้าราชการของท่าน พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า ภายหลังอียิปต์จึงจะมีคนอาศัยอยู่อย่างสมัยก่อน

²⁷But don’t you be afraid, Jacob my servant, neither be dismayed, Israel: for, behold, I will save you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be quiet and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.

²⁷โอ ยาโคบ ผู้รับใช้ของเราเอ๋ย อย่ากลัวเลย โอ อิสราเอลเอ๋ย อย่าครั่นคร้ามเลย เพราะดูเถิด เราจะช่วยเจ้าให้รอดได้จากที่ไกล และช่วยเชื้อสายของเจ้าจากแผ่นดินที่เขาเป็นเชลย ยาโคบจะกลับมาและมีความสงบและความสบาย และไม่มีผู้ใดกระทำให้เขากลัว

²⁸Don’t you be afraid, O Jacob my servant, says Yahweh; for I am with you: for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you; but I will not make a full end of you, but I will correct you in measure, and will in no way leave you unpunished.

²⁸พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า โอ ยาโคบผู้รับใช้ของเราเอ๋ย อย่ากลัวเลย เพราะเราอยู่กับเจ้า เราจะกระทำให้บรรดาประชาชาติทั้งสิ้นมาถึงซึ่งอวสาน คือประชาชาติที่เราได้ขับเจ้าให้ไปอยู่นั้น แต่ส่วนเจ้าเราจะไม่กระทำให้ถึงอวสานทีเดียว เราจะตีสอนเจ้าตามขนาด เราจะไม่ปล่อยให้เจ้าไม่ถูกทำโทษเป็นอันขาด"
