2Thus says Yahweh: Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall become an overflowing stream, and shall overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and those who dwell therein; and the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail.
2"พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า ดูเถิด น้ำทั้งหลายกำลังขึ้นมาจากทิศเหนือ และจะกลายเป็นกระแสน้ำท่วม มันจะท่วมแผ่นดินและสารพัดซึ่งอยู่ในนั้น ทั้งเมืองและผู้ที่อาศัยอยู่ในเมือง คนจะร้องร่ำไร และชาวแผ่นดินนั้นทุกคนจะคร่ำครวญ
3At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers don’t look back to their children for feebleness of hands;
3เมื่อได้ยินเสียงกีบม้าตัวแข็งแรงของเขากระทืบ และเสียงรถรบของเขากรูกันมา และเสียงล้อรถดังกึกก้อง พวกพ่อก็จะมิได้หันกลับมาดูลูกทั้งหลายของตน เพราะมือของเขาอ่อนเปลี้ยเต็มทีแล้ว
4because of the day that comes to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains: for Yahweh will destroy the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.
4เพราะวันที่จะมาถึงซึ่งจะทำลายฟีลิสเตียทั้งสิ้น และจะตัดผู้อุปถัมภ์ทุกคนทีเหลืออยู่ออกจากเมืองไทระและเมืองไซดอน เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงทำลายคนฟีลิสเตีย คือคนที่เหลืออยู่ในแถบคัฟโทร์นั้น
5Baldness has come on Gaza; Ashkelon is brought to nothing, the remnant of their valley: how long will you cut yourself?
5เมืองกาซาก็ล้านเลี่ยน และเมืองอัชเคโลนก็ถูกตัดออกพร้อมด้วยคนที่เหลืออยู่ในหุบเขาของเขา เจ้าจะเชือดเนื้อเถือหนังของเจ้าอีกนานเท่าใด
6You sword of Yahweh, how long will it be before you be quiet? Put up yourself into your scabbard; rest, and be still.

7How can you be quiet, since Yahweh has given you a command? Against Ashkelon, and against the seashore, there has he appointed it.
7เมื่อพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกำชับ มันจะสงบได้อย่างไรเล่า พระองค์ทรงบัญชาและแต่งตั้งให้ดาบนั้นต่อสู้อัชเคโลนและต่อสู้ชายทะเล"
