¹Thus says Yahweh: Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against those who dwell in Lebkamai, a destroying wind.

¹พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า "ดูเถิด เราจะปลุกกระแสลมแห่งการทำลาย ต่อสู้กับบาบิโลน และต่อสู้กับคนที่อาศัยท่ามกลางพวกที่ลุกขึ้นสู้กับเรา

²I will send to Babylon strangers, who shall winnow her; and they shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her around.

²เราจะส่งผู้ฝัดไปยังบาบิโลนและเขาทั้งหลายจะฝัดเธอ และเขาทั้งหลายจะทำให้แผ่นดินของเธอว่างเปล่า เมื่อเขาทั้งหลายมาล้อมเธอไว้ทุกด้าน ในวันแห่งความยากลำบาก

³Against him who bends let the archer bend his bow, and against him who lifts himself up in his coat of mail: and don’t spare her young men; utterly destroy all her army.

³อย่าให้นักธนูโก่งคันธนูได้ อย่าให้เขาสวมเสื้อเกราะลุกขึ้นได้ อย่าไว้ชีวิตคนหนุ่มๆของเธอเลย จงทำลายพลโยธาของเธอทั้งหมด

⁴They shall fall down slain in the land of the Chaldeans, and thrust through in her streets.

⁴ดังนั้นเขาทั้งหลายจะถูกฆ่าล้มลงในแผ่นดินของชาวเคลเดีย และจะถูกแทงทะลุที่ถนนเมืองนั้น

⁵For Israel is not forsaken, nor Judah, of his God, of Yahweh of Armies; though their land is full of guilt against the Holy One of Israel.

⁵เพราะว่าอิสราเอลและยูดาห์มิได้ถูกทอดทิ้งโดยพระเจ้าของเขาทั้งหลายพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา ถึงแม้แผ่นดินของเขาเต็มด้วยความผิดบาปต่อองค์บริสุทธิ์แห่งอิสราเอล

⁶Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and save every man his life; don’t be cut off in her iniquity: for it is the time of Yahweh’s vengeance; he will render to her a recompense.

⁶จงหนีเสียจากท่ามกลางบาบิโลน ให้ทุกคนเอาชีวิตของตนให้รอดพ้นเถิด เจ้าอย่าถูกตัดออกด้วยความชั่วช้าของเธอเลย เพราะนี่เป็นเวลาแห่งแก้แค้นของพระเยโฮวาห์ พระองค์จะทรงตอบสนองต่อเธอสักครั้ง

⁷Babylon has been a golden cup in Yahweh’s hand, who made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunk of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

⁷บาบิโลนได้เคยเป็นถ้วยทองคำในพระหัตถ์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ กระทำให้แผ่นดินโลกทั้งสิ้นมึนเมาไป บรรดาประชาชาติได้ดื่มเหล้าองุ่นของเธอ เพราะฉะนั้นประชาชาติต่างจึงบ้าไป

⁸Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: wail for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

⁸บาบิโลนได้ล้มลงและแตกไปอย่างฉับพลัน จงคร่ำครวญเพื่อเธอเถิด จงเอาพิมเสนมาให้เธอบรรเทาปวด ชะรอยจะรักษาเธอให้หายได้กระมัง

⁹We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go everyone into his own country; for her judgment reaches to heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

⁹เราทั้งหลายอยากจะรักษาบาบิโลนให้หาย แต่เธอไม่หาย ละทิ้งเธอเสียเถิด และให้เราไปต่างไปยังประเทศของตน เพราะว่าการพิพากษาเธอได้ขึ้นไปถึงฟ้าสวรรค์ และได้ถูกยกขึ้นถึงฟากฟ้า

¹⁰Yahweh has brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of Yahweh our God.

¹⁰พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงนำความชอบธรรมออกมาให้เรา มาเถิด ให้เราประกาศพระราชกิจของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเราที่ในศิโยน

¹¹Make sharp the arrows; hold firm the shields: Yahweh has stirred up the spirit of the kings of the Medes; because his purpose is against Babylon, to destroy it: for it is the vengeance of Yahweh, the vengeance of his temple.

¹¹จงฝนลูกธนู จงหยิบโล่ขึ้นมา พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงเร้าใจบรรดากษัตริย์คนมีเดีย เพราะว่าพระประสงค์ของพระองค์เกี่ยวด้วยเรื่องบาบิโลน ก็คือการทำลายมันเสีย เพราะนั่นแหละเป็นการแก้แค้นของพระเยโฮวาห์ คือการแก้แค้นแทนพระวิหารของพระองค์

¹²Set up a standard against the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set the watchmen, prepare the ambushes; for Yahweh has both purposed and done that which he spoke concerning the inhabitants of Babylon.

¹²จงปักธงชิดบรรดากำแพงของบาบิโลน จงทำคนเฝ้าให้เข้มแข็ง จงตั้งคนยามขึ้น จงเตรียมกองซุ่มไว้ เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงวางแผนงานและทั้งทรงกระทำเสร็จตามที่พระองค์ทรงลั่นพระวาจาเกี่ยวด้วยชาวเมืองบาบิโลน

¹³You who dwell on many waters, abundant in treasures, your end has come, the measure of your covetousness.

¹³เจ้าผู้อาศัยตามน้ำมากหลาย ผู้มีสมบัติมากมายเอ๋ย อวสานของเจ้ามาถึงแล้ว เส้นความโลภของเจ้าได้ถูกตัดขาดเสียแล้ว

¹⁴Yahweh of Armies has sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill you with men, as with the canker worm; and they shall lift up a shout against you.

¹⁴พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาได้ทรงปฏิญาณต่อพระองค์เองว่า แน่ละ เราจะให้เจ้ามีคนเต็มเมืองให้มากอย่างตั๊กแตน และเขาทั้งหลายจะเปล่งเสียงโห่ร้องมีชัยเหนือเจ้า

¹⁵He has made the earth by his power, he has established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding has he stretched out the heavens:

¹⁵พระองค์ทรงสร้างโลกด้วยฤทธิ์เดชของพระองค์ พระองค์ทรงสถาปนาพิภพไว้ด้วยพระสติปัญญาของพระองค์ และทรงคลี่ท้องฟ้าออกด้วยความเข้าใจของพระองค์

¹⁶when he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he makes lightning for the rain, and brings forth the wind out of his treasuries.

¹⁶เมื่อพระองค์ทรงเปล่งพระสุรเสียงก็มีเสียงน้ำคะนองในท้องฟ้า และทรงกระทำให้หมอกลอยขึ้นจากปลายพิภพ ทรงกระทำฟ้าแลบเพื่อฝน และทรงนำลมมาจากพระคลังของพระองค์

¹⁷Every man has become brutish without knowledge. Every goldsmith is disappointed by his image; for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

¹⁷มนุษย์ทุกคนโฉดในทางความรู้ของตน ช่างทองทุกคนจะได้อายเพราะรูปเคารพสลักของตน เพราะรูปเคารพหล่อของเขาเป็นของเท็จ และไม่มีลมหายใจในรูปเคารพนั้น

¹⁸They are vanity, a work of delusion: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

¹⁸มันเป็นของไร้ค่า และเป็นผลงานแห่งความผิดพลาด มันจะต้องพินาศเมื่อถึงเวลาการลงโทษ

¹⁹The portion of Jacob is not like these; for he is the former of all things; and is the tribe of his inheritance: Yahweh of Armies is his name.

¹⁹พระองค์ผู้ทรงเป็นส่วนของยาโคบไม่เหมือนสิ่งเหล่านี้ เพราะพระองค์ทรงเป็นผู้ที่ก่อร่างทุกสิ่งขึ้น และอิสราเอลเป็นตระกูลที่เป็นมรดกของพระองค์ พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาเป็นพระนามของพระองค์

²⁰You are my battle axe and weapons of war: and with you will I break in pieces the nations; and with you will I destroy kingdoms;

²⁰เจ้าเป็นค้อนและยุทโธปกรณ์ของเรา เราจะทุบบรรดาประชาชาติเป็นชิ้นๆด้วยเจ้า เราจะทำลายราชอาณาจักรทั้งหลายด้วยเจ้า

²¹and with you will I break in pieces the horse and his rider;

²¹เราจะทุบม้าและคนขี่เป็นชิ้นๆด้วยเจ้า เราจะทุบบรรดารถรบและคนขับให้เป็นชิ้นๆด้วยเจ้า

²²and with you will I break in pieces the chariot and him who rides therein; and with you will I break in pieces man and woman; and with you will I break in pieces the old man and the youth; and with you will I break in pieces the young man and the virgin;

²²เราจะทุบผู้ชายและผู้หญิงเป็นชิ้นๆด้วยเจ้า เราจะทุบคนแก่และคนหนุ่มเป็นชิ้นๆด้วยเจ้า เราจะทุบคนหนุ่มและหญิงพรหมจารีเป็นชิ้นๆด้วยเจ้า

²³and with you will I break in pieces the shepherd and his flock; and with you will I break in pieces the farmer and his yoke; and with you will I break in pieces governors and deputies.

²³เราจะทุบผู้เลี้ยงแกะและฝูงแกะเป็นชิ้นๆด้วยเจ้า เราจะทุบชาวนาและวัวคู่แอกของเขาเป็นชิ้นๆด้วยเจ้า เราจะทุบเจ้าเมืองและปลัดเป็นชิ้นๆด้วยเจ้า

²⁴I will render to Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, says Yahweh.

²⁴พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า เราจะสนองบาบิโลนและบรรดาชาวประเทศเคลเดียท่ามกลางสายตาของเจ้า ซึ่งบรรดาความชั่วร้ายอันเขาได้กระทำในศิโยน

²⁵Behold, I am against you, destroying mountain, says Yahweh, which destroys all the earth; and I will stretch out my hand on you, and roll you down from the rocks, and will make you a burnt mountain.

²⁵พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า ภูเขาซึ่งทำลายเอ๋ย ดูเถิด เราต่อสู้เจ้า เจ้าผู้ทำลายแผ่นดินโลกทั้งสิ้น เราจะเหยียดมือของเราออกต่อสู้เจ้า และกลิ้งเจ้าลงมาจากหน้าผา และจะกระทำให้เจ้าเป็นภูเขาที่ถูกไหม้

²⁶They shall not take of you a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but you shall be desolate for ever, says Yahweh.

²⁶เขาจะไม่เอาหินจากเจ้าไปทำศิลาหัวมุม และไม่เอาหินไปทำรากฐาน แต่เจ้าจะถูกทิ้งร้างเป็นนิตย์ พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้

²⁷Set up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz: appoint a marshal against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough canker worm.

²⁷จงตั้งธงไว้บนแผ่นดิน จงเป่าแตรท่ามกลางประชาชาติทั้งหลาย จงเตรียมประชาชาติทั้งหลายไว้ทำสงครามกับเธอ จงเรียกราชอาณาจักรต่อไปนี้มาสู้กับเธอ อารารัต มินนี และอัชเคนัส จงตั้งจอมทัพไว้ต่อสู้เธอ จงทำม้าขึ้นเหมือนบุ้งคันระเกะระกะ

²⁸Prepare against her the nations, the kings of the Medes, its governors, and all its deputies, and all the land of their dominion.

²⁸จงเตรียมบรรดาประชาชาติมาทำสงครามกับเธอ คือเตรียมบรรดากษัตริย์แห่งมีเดีย พร้อมทั้งเจ้าเมืองและปลัดทั้งหลาย และทุกแผ่นดินที่ขึ้นแก่มีเดีย

²⁹The land trembles and is in pain; for the purposes of Yahweh against Babylon do stand, to make the land of Babylon a desolation, without inhabitant.

²⁹แผ่นดินนั้นจะสะเทือนสะท้านและโศกเศร้า เพราะบรรดาพระประสงค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์จะเกิดขึ้นเพื่อต่อสู้บาบิโลน เพื่อจะกระทำให้แผ่นดินบาบิโลนเป็นที่รกร้างปราศจากคนอาศัย

³⁰The mighty men of Babylon have forborne to fight, they remain in their strongholds; their might has failed; they are become as women: her dwelling places are set on fire; her bars are broken.

³⁰นักรบแห่งบาบิโลนหยุดรบแล้ว เขาทั้งหลายค้างอยู่ในที่กำบังเข้มแข็งของเขา กำลังของเขาถอยเสียแล้ว เขาทั้งหลายกลายเป็นเหมือนผู้หญิง เขาได้เผาที่อาศัยของเธอแล้ว และดาลประตูของเธอก็หัก

³¹One runner will run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to show the king of Babylon that his city is taken on every quarter:

³¹นักวิ่งคนหนึ่งวิ่งไปพบนักวิ่งอีกคนหนึ่ง ทูตคนหนึ่งวิ่งไปพบทูตอีกคนหนึ่ง เพื่อทูลกษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลนว่า เมืองของพระองค์ถูกยึดไว้ทุกด้านแล้ว

³²and the passages are seized, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are frightened.

³²ท่าลุยข้ามก็ถูกยึดแล้ว ที่เป็นบึงเป็นหนองก็ถูกไฟไหม้และบรรดาทหารก็ระส่ำระสาย

³³For thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor at the time when it is trodden; yet a little while, and the time of harvest shall come for her.

³³เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ตรัสดังนี้ว่า บุตรสาวแห่งบาบิโลนก็เหมือนลานนวดข้าว ณ เวลาที่เธอถูกเหยียบย่ำ อีกสักประเดี๋ยว เวลาเกี่ยวก็จะมาถึงแล้ว"

³⁴Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me, he has crushed me, he has made me an empty vessel, he has, like a monster, swallowed me up, he has filled his maw with my delicacies; he has cast me out.

³⁴ให้ชาวเมืองศิโยนพูดว่า "เนบูคัดเนสซาร์กษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลนได้กินข้าพเจ้าเสียแล้ว ท่านได้ขย้ำข้าพเจ้า ท่านได้ทำให้ข้าพเจ้าเป็นภาชนะว่างเปล่า ท่านได้กลืนข้าพเจ้าดั่งมังกร ท่านได้อิ่มท้องด้วยของอร่อยของข้าพเจ้า แล้วท่านก็คายข้าพเจ้าทิ้งเสีย

³⁵The violence done to me and to my flesh be on Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and, My blood be on the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.

³⁵ความทารุณที่ได้กระทำแก่ข้าพเจ้าและแก่เนื้อหนังของข้าพเจ้าจงตกเหนือบาบิโลน" ให้เยรูซาเล็มกล่าวว่า "ให้ความรับผิดชอบสำหรับเลือดตกของเราอยู่แก่ชาวประเทศเคลเดีย"

³⁶Therefore thus says Yahweh: Behold, I will plead your cause, and take vengeance for you; and I will dry up her sea, and make her fountain dry.

³⁶เพราะฉะนั้น พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า "ดูเถิด เราจะแก้คดีของเจ้า และกระทำการแก้แค้นเพื่อเจ้า เราจะทำทะเลของเธอให้แห้ง และกระทำแหล่งน้ำของเธอให้เหือด

³⁷Babylon shall become heaps, a dwelling place for jackals, an astonishment, and a hissing, without inhabitant.

³⁷และบาบิโลนจะกลายเป็นกองซากปรักหักพัง เป็นที่อยู่อาศัยของมังกร เป็นที่น่าตกตะลึง และเป็นที่เย้ยหยัน ปราศจากคนอาศัย

³⁸They shall roar together like young lions; they shall growl as lions’ cubs.

³⁸เขาทั้งหลายจะคำรามด้วยกันอย่างสิงโต เขาทั้งหลายจะคำรามอย่างลูกสิงโต

³⁹When they are heated, I will make their feast, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, says Yahweh.

³⁹ขณะที่เขาทั้งหลายผ่าวร้อน เราจะเตรียมการเลี้ยงให้ และกระทำให้เขาทั้งหลายมึนเมา เพื่อเขาทั้งหลายจะปลาบปลื้มยินดี จนเขาทั้งหลายจะนอนหลับอยู่ชั่วกาลนาน ไม่ตื่นเลย พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

⁴⁰I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with male goats.

⁴⁰เราจะนำเขาทั้งหลายลงมาดุจลูกแกะไปยังการฆ่า เหมือนแกะผู้และแพะผู้

⁴¹How is Sheshach taken! and the praise of the whole earth seized! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!

⁴¹เชชักถูกยึดแล้วหนอ ซึ่งเป็นที่สรรเสริญของทั่วแผ่นดินโลกถูกจับแล้วเล่า บาบิโลนได้กลายเป็นที่น่าตกตะลึงท่ามกลางบรรดาประชาชาติเสียแล้วหนอ

⁴²The sea has come up on Babylon; she is covered with the multitude of its waves.

⁴²ทะเลขึ้นมาเหนือบาบิโลน คลื่นอย่างมากมายคลุมเธอไว้

⁴³Her cities are become a desolation, a dry land, and a desert, a land in which no man dwells, neither does any son of man pass thereby.

⁴³หัวเมืองของเธอกลายเป็นที่รกร้าง เป็นแผ่นดินที่แห้งแล้งและเป็นถิ่นทุรกันดาร เป็นแผ่นดินที่ไม่มีผู้ใดอาศัยอยู่และไม่มีบุตรของมนุษย์คนใดข้ามไป

⁴⁴I will execute judgment on Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he has swallowed up; and the nations shall not flow any more to him: yes, the wall of Babylon shall fall.

⁴⁴และเราจะลงโทษพระเบลในบาบิโลน ท่านกลืนอะไรเข้าไปแล้ว เราจะเอาออกจากปากท่านเสีย บรรดาประชาชาติจะไม่ไหลไปหาท่านอีก เออ กำแพงแห่งบาบิโลนจะล้มลง

⁴⁵My people, go away from the midst of her, and save yourselves every man from the fierce anger of Yahweh.

⁴⁵ประชาชนของเราเอ๋ย จงออกไปเสียจากท่ามกลางเธอ ให้ทุกคนเอาชีวิตของตนรอดจากความพิโรธอันร้อนแรงของพระเยโฮวาห์เถิด

⁴⁶Don’t let your heart faint, neither fear for the news that shall be heard in the land; for news shall come one year, and after that in another year shall come news, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.

⁴⁶อย่าให้ใจของเจ้าวิตก และอย่าให้กลัวต่อข่าวลือซึ่งได้ยินในแผ่นดินนั้น จะมีข่าวลือเรื่องหนึ่งมาในปีหนึ่ง และหลังจากนั้นอีกปีหนึ่งก็มีข่าวลือเรื่องหนึ่งมา และความทารุณก็มีอยู่ในแผ่นดินและผู้ครอบครองก็ต่อสู้กับผู้ครอบครอง

⁴⁷Therefore behold, the days come, that I will execute judgment on the engraved images of Babylon; and her whole land shall be confounded; and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.

⁴⁷เพราะฉะนั้น ดูเถิด วันเวลาจะมาถึง เมื่อเราจะลงโทษรูปเคารพสลักแห่งบาบิโลน แผ่นดินทั้งสิ้นของเธอจะต้องได้อาย และบรรดาชาวบาบิโลนซึ่งถูกฆ่าจะล้มลงที่ท่ามกลางเธอ

⁴⁸Then the heavens and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for joy over Babylon; for the destroyers shall come to her from the north, says Yahweh.

⁴⁸แล้วฟ้าสวรรค์และแผ่นดินโลกและสรรพสิ่งที่มีอยู่ในนั้น จะร้องเพลงเหนือบาบิโลน เพราะว่าผู้ทำลายจะมาจากทิศเหนือต่อสู้กับเธอ พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้

⁴⁹As Babylon has caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the land.

⁴⁹บาบิโลนทำให้คนอิสราเอลที่ถูกฆ่าล้มลงฉันใด คนที่ถูกฆ่าแห่งแผ่นดินโลกทั้งมวลจะต้องล้มลงที่บาบิโลนฉันนั้น

⁵⁰You who have escaped the sword, go, don’t stand still; remember Yahweh from afar, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.

⁵⁰เจ้าทั้งหลายผู้ที่รอดพ้นไปจากดาบ หนีไปเถิด อย่ายืนนิ่งอยู่ จงระลึกถึงพระเยโฮวาห์จากที่ไกล และให้กรุงเยรูซาเล็มเข้ามาในจิตใจของเจ้า

⁵¹We are confounded, because we have heard reproach; confusion has covered our faces: for strangers have come into the sanctuaries of Yahweh’s house.

⁵¹เราได้อาย เพราะเราได้ยินคำเยาะเย้ย ความอัปยศคลุมหน้าเราไว้ เพราะคนต่างชาติได้เข้าในสถานบริสุทธิ์แห่งพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์"

⁵²Therefore behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will execute judgment on her engraved images; and through all her land the wounded shall groan.

⁵²พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า "เพราะฉะนั้น ดูเถิด วันเวลาจะมาถึง เมื่อเราจะลงโทษรูปเคารพสลักของเธอ และคนที่บาดเจ็บจะคร่ำครวญอยู่ทั่วแผ่นดินทั้งสิ้นของเธอ

⁵³Though Babylon should mount up to the sky, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall destroyers come to her, says Yahweh.

⁵³พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า ถึงแม้บาบิโลนจะขึ้นไปบนสวรรค์ และถึงแม้เธอจะสร้างป้อมกันที่สูงอันเข้มแข็งของเธอไว้ บรรดาผู้ทำลายก็จะยังมาจากเราเหนือเธอ

⁵⁴The sound of a cry from Babylon, and of great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans!

⁵⁴มีเสียงร้องมาจากบาบิโลน และเสียงการทำลายอย่างใหญ่หลวงจากแผ่นดินของคนเคลเดีย

⁵⁵For Yahweh lays Babylon waste, and destroys out of her the great voice; and their waves roar like many waters; the noise of their voice is uttered:

⁵⁵เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงกระทำให้บาบิโลนเป็นที่ทิ้งร้าง และกระทำเสียงที่ใหญ่โตของเธอให้เงียบ เมื่อคลื่นของเธอคะนองเหมือนสายน้ำอันยิ่งใหญ่ เสียงอึกทึกของเขาก็เปล่งออกมา

⁵⁶for the destroyer has come on her, even on Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, their bows are broken in pieces; for Yahweh is a God of recompenses, he will surely requite.

⁵⁶เพราะว่าผู้ทำลายได้มาเหนือเธอ มาเหนือบาบิโลน บรรดานักรบของเธอถูกยึดแล้ว คันธนูของเขาทั้งหลายถูกหักเป็นชิ้นๆ เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงเป็นพระเจ้าแห่งการตอบแทน พระองค์จะทรงสนองเป็นแน่

⁵⁷I will make drunk her princes and her wise men, her governors and her deputies, and her mighty men; and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake up, says the King, whose name is Yahweh of Armies.

⁵⁷เราจะกระทำให้เจ้านายของเธอและนักปราชญ์ของเธอ เจ้าเมืองของเธอ ผู้บังคับบัญชาของเธอ และนักรบของเธอมึนเมา จนเขาทั้งหลายจะนอนหลับอยู่ชั่วกาลนาน ไม่ตื่นเลย พระบรมมหากษัตริย์ผู้ทรงพระนามว่าพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้

⁵⁸Thus says Yahweh of Armies: The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly overthrown, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the peoples shall labor for vanity, and the nations for the fire; and they shall be weary.

⁵⁸พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า กำแพงอันกว้างขวางของบาบิโลนจะถูกปราบลงให้เรียบเสมอพื้นดิน และประตูเมืองสูงของเธอจะถูกเผาด้วยไฟ บรรดาประชาชนจะทำงานอย่างไร้ผล และชนชาติทั้งหลายจะเหน็ดเหนื่อยก็เพื่อเผาไฟเสียเท่านั้น"

⁵⁹The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah to Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. Now Seraiah was chief quartermaster.

⁵⁹ถ้อยคำซึ่งเยเรมีย์ผู้พยากรณ์ได้บัญชาแก่เสไรอาห์บุตรชายเนริยาห์ ผู้เป็นบุตรชายมาอาเสอาห์ เมื่อเขาไปยังบาบิโลนกับเศเดคียาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ ในปีที่สี่แห่งรัชกาลของท่านนั้น เสไรอาห์เป็นหัวหน้าจัดที่พัก

⁶⁰Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come on Babylon, even all these words that are written concerning Babylon.

⁶⁰เยเรมีย์ได้เขียนบรรดาความร้ายทั้งสิ้นซึ่งจะมาถึงบาบิโลนนั้นไว้ในหนังสือ บรรดาถ้อยคำเหล่านี้เป็นคำที่เขียนไว้เกี่ยวด้วยเรื่องบาบิโลน

⁶¹Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When you come to Babylon, then see that you read all these words,

⁶¹และเยเรมีย์พูดกับเสไรอาห์ว่า "เมื่อท่านมาถึงบาบิโลนแล้ว ท่านจะเห็นและท่านจงอ่านถ้อยคำเหล่านี้ทั้งหมดนะ

⁶²and say, Yahweh, you have spoken concerning this place, to cut it off, that none shall dwell therein, neither man nor animal, but that it shall be desolate forever.

⁶²และท่านจงกล่าวว่า `ข้าแต่พระเยโฮวาห์ พระองค์ได้ตรัสต่อสู้กับสถานที่นี้ว่า จะทรงตัดออกเสีย เพื่อว่าจะไม่มีอะไรเหลืออยู่ในนั้นเลย ไม่ว่ามนุษย์หรือสัตว์ แต่จะเป็นที่รกร้างเป็นนิตย์'

⁶³It shall be, when you have made an end of reading this book, that you shall bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of the Euphrates:

⁶³ต่อมาเมื่อท่านอ่านหนังสือนี้จบแล้ว จงเอาหินก้อนหนึ่งมัดติดมันไว้ และโยนมันทิ้งไปกลางแม่น้ำยูเฟรติส

⁶⁴and you shall say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise again because of the evil that I will bring on her; and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.

⁶⁴และจงกล่าวว่า `บาบิโลนจะจมลงอย่างนี้แหละ จะไม่ลอยขึ้นอีกเลยเนื่องด้วยความร้ายซึ่งเราจะนำมาเหนือเธอ และพวกเขาจะเหน็ดเหนื่อย'" ถ้อยคำของเยเรมีย์มีเพียงนี้
