¹The word that Yahweh spoke concerning Babylon, concerning the land of the Chaldeans, by Jeremiah the prophet.

²Declare among the nations and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and don’t conceal: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is disappointed, Merodach is dismayed; her images are disappointed, her idols are dismayed.

²"จงประกาศท่ามกลางบรรดาประชาชาติและป่าวร้อง จงตั้งธงขึ้นและป่าวร้อง อย่าปิดบังไว้เลย และว่า `บาบิโลนถูกยึดแล้ว พระเบลก็ได้อาย พระเมโรดัคก็ถูกแหลกเป็นชิ้นๆ รูปเคารพทั้งหลายของเมืองนั้นถูกกระทำให้ได้อาย และรูปปั้นทั้งหลายก็ถูกแหลกเป็นชิ้นๆ'

³For out of the north there comes up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they are fled, they are gone, both man and animal.

³เพราะว่ามีประชาชาติหนึ่งออกจากทิศเหนือมาต่อสู้เมืองนั้น ซึ่งจะกระทำให้แผ่นดินของเธอเป็นที่รกร้าง และจะไม่มีสิ่งใดอาศัยในนั้นเลย ทั้งมนุษย์และสัตว์จะย้ายออกไปและจะออกไปเสีย

⁴In those days, and in that time, says Yahweh, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together; they shall go on their way weeping, and shall seek Yahweh their God.

⁴พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า ในวันเหล่านั้นและในเวลานั้น ประชาชนอิสราเอลและประชาชนยูดาห์จะมารวมกัน มาพลางร้องไห้พลาง และเขาทั้งหลายจะไปแสวงหาพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเขา

⁵They shall inquire concerning Zion with their faces turned toward it, saying, Come, and join yourselves to Yahweh in an everlasting covenant that shall not be forgotten.

⁵เขาทั้งหลายจะถามหาทางไปศิโยนโดยหันหน้าตรงไปเมืองนั้น กล่าวว่า `มาเถิด ให้พวกเรามาติดสนิทกับพระเยโฮวาห์โดยทำพันธสัญญาเนืองนิตย์ซึ่งจะไม่ลืมเลย'

⁶My people have been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray; they have turned them away on the mountains; they have gone from mountain to hill; they have forgotten their resting place.

⁶ประชาชนของเราเป็นแกะที่หลง บรรดาผู้เลี้ยงของเขาทั้งหลายได้พาเขาหลงไปหัน เขาทั้งหลายไปเสียบนภูเขา เขาทั้งหลายได้เดินจากภูเขาไปหาเนินเขา เขาลืมคอกของเขาเสียแล้ว

⁷All who found them have devoured them; and their adversaries said, We are not guilty, because they have sinned against Yahweh, the habitation of righteousness, even Yahweh, the hope of their fathers.

⁷บรรดาผู้ที่พบเข้าก็กินเขา และศัตรูของเขาได้กล่าวว่า `เราไม่มีความผิด เพราะเขาทั้งหลายได้กระทำบาปต่อพระเยโฮวาห์ผู้เป็นที่อยู่อันเที่ยงธรรมของเขาทั้งหลาย คือพระเยโฮวาห์อันเป็นความหวังของบรรพบุรุษของเขาทั้งหลาย'

⁸Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the male goats before the flocks.

⁸จงหนีจากท่ามกลางบาบิโลน จงออกไปเสียจากแผ่นดินของชาวเคลเดีย และเป็นเหมือนแพะตัวผู้นำหน้าฝูง

⁹For, behold, I will stir up and cause to come up against Babylon a company of great nations from the north country; and they shall set themselves in array against her; from there she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of an expert mighty man; none shall return in vain.

⁹เพราะ ดูเถิด เราจะเร้าและนำบรรดาประชาชาติใหญ่หมู่หนึ่งจากประเทศเหนือมาต่อสู้บาบิโลน และเขาทั้งหลายจะเรียงรายพวกเขามาต่อสู้กับเธอ ตรงนั้นแหละเธอจะถูกยึด ลูกธนูของเขาทั้งหลายก็เหมือนนักรบที่มีฝีมือ ไม่มีคนใดจะกลับมือเปล่า

¹⁰Chaldea shall be a prey: all who prey on her shall be satisfied, says Yahweh.

¹⁰พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า ประเทศเคลเดียจะถูกปล้น บรรดาผู้ที่ปล้นเธอจะอิ่มหนำ

¹¹Because you are glad, because you rejoice, O you who plunder my heritage, because you are wanton as a heifer that treads out the grain, and neigh as strong horses;

¹¹บรรดาผู้ปล้นมรดกของเราเอ๋ย แม้ว่าเจ้าเปรมปรีดิ์ แม้ว่าเจ้าลิงโลด แม้เจ้าอ้วนพีอย่างวัวสาวอยู่ที่หญ้า และร้องอย่างวัวตัวผู้

¹²your mother shall be utterly disappointed; she who bore you shall be confounded: behold, she shall be the least of the nations, a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.

¹²มารดาของเจ้าจะละอายอย่างอดสู และนางที่คลอดเจ้าจะต้องอับอาย ดูเถิด ที่รั้งท้ายแห่งบรรดาประชาชาติจะเป็นถิ่นทุรกันดาร ที่แห้งแล้งและทะเลทราย

¹³Because of the wrath of Yahweh she shall not be inhabited, but she shall be wholly desolate: everyone who goes by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.

¹³เมืองนั้นจะไม่มีคนอาศัยเพราะพระพิโรธของพระเยโฮวาห์ แต่จะเป็นที่รกร้างทั้งหมด ทุกคนที่ผ่านเมืองบาบิโลนไปจะตกตะลึง และจะเย้ยหยันในภัยพิบัติทั้งสิ้นของเมืองนั้น

¹⁴Set yourselves in array against Babylon all around, all you who bend the bow; shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she has sinned against Yahweh.

¹⁴จงเรียงรายตัวของเจ้าทั้งหลายเข้ามาสู้บาบิโลนให้รอบข้าง บรรดาเจ้าที่โก่งคันธนูจงยิงเธอ อย่าเสียดายลูกธนู เพราะเธอได้กระทำบาปต่อพระเยโฮวาห์

¹⁵Shout against her all around: she has submitted herself; her bulwarks are fallen, her walls are thrown down; for it is the vengeance of Yahweh: take vengeance on her; as she has done, do to her.

¹⁵จงเปล่งเสียงโห่ร้องสู้เธอให้รอบข้าง เธอยอมแพ้แล้ว รากฐานของเธอล้มลงแล้ว กำแพงของเธอถูกพังลงมาแล้ว เพราะนี่เป็นการแก้แค้นของพระเยโฮวาห์ จงทำการแก้แค้นเธอ ทำกับเธออย่างที่เธอได้กระทำมาแล้ว

¹⁶Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him who handles the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn everyone to his people, and they shall flee everyone to his own land.

¹⁶จงตัดผู้หว่านเสียจากบาบิโลน และตัดผู้ที่ถือเคียวในฤดูเกี่ยว เหตุเพราะดาบของผู้บีบบังคับทุกคนจึงหันเข้าหาชนชาติของตน และทุกคนจะหนีไปยังแผ่นดินของตน

¹⁷Israel is a hunted sheep; the lions have driven him away: first, the king of Assyria devoured him; and now at last Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has broken his bones.

¹⁷อิสราเอลเป็นเหมือนแกะที่ถูกกระจัดกระจายไปแล้ว พวกสิงโตได้ขับล่าเขาไป ทีแรกกษัตริย์อัสซีเรียกินเขา ในที่สุดนี้เนบูคัดเนสซาร์กษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลนได้หักกระดูกของเขา

¹⁸Therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.

¹⁸เพราะฉะนั้นพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ตรัสดังนี้ว่า ดูเถิด เราจะลงโทษกษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลนและแผ่นดินของท่าน ดังที่เราได้ลงโทษกษัตริย์แห่งอัสซีเรีย

¹⁹I will bring Israel again to his pasture, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied on the hills of Ephraim and in Gilead.

¹⁹เราจะให้อิสราเอลกลับสู่ลานหญ้าของเขา และเขาจะกินอยู่บนคารเมลและในบาชาน และเขาจะอิ่มใจบนเนินเขาเอฟราอิมและในกิเลอาด

²⁰In those days, and in that time, says Yahweh, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I leave as a remnant.

²⁰พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า ในวันเหล่านั้นและในเวลานั้น จะหาความชั่วช้าในอิสราเอลและจะหาไม่ได้เลย จะหาบาปในยูดาห์ก็หาไม่ได้เลย เพราะเราจะให้อภัยแก่ชนเหล่านั้นผู้ที่เราเหลือไว้ให้

²¹Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: kill and utterly destroy after them, says Yahweh, and do according to all that I have commanded you.

²¹พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า จงขึ้นไปสู้แผ่นดินเมราธาอิม และต่อสู้ชาวเมืองเปโขด จงฆ่าเขาและตามทำลายเสียให้สิ้นเชิง และจงกระทำทุกอย่างตามที่เราได้บัญชาเจ้าไว้

²²A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.

²²เสียงสงครามอยู่ในแผ่นดิน และเสียงการทำลายอย่างใหญ่หลวงก็อยู่ในนั้น

²³How is the hammer of the whole earth cut apart and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!

²³ค้อนทุบของแผ่นดินโลกทั้งหมดได้ถูกตัดลงและถูกหักเสียแล้วหนอ บาบิโลนได้กลายเป็นที่รกร้างท่ามกลางบรรดาประชาชาติแล้วหนอ

²⁴I have laid a snare for you, and you are also taken, Babylon, and you weren’t aware: you are found, and also caught, because you have striven against Yahweh.

²⁴บาบิโลนเอ๋ย เราวางบ่วงดักเจ้าและเจ้าก็ติดบ่วงนั้น และเจ้าไม่รู้เรื่อง เขามาพบเจ้าและจับเจ้า เพราะเจ้าได้ขันสู้กับพระเยโฮวาห์

²⁵Yahweh has opened his armory, and has brought forth the weapons of his indignation; for the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, has a work to do in the land of the Chaldeans.

²⁵พระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงเปิดคลังอาวุธของพระองค์ และทรงให้อาวุธแห่งพระพิโรธของพระองค์ออกมา เพราะนี่แหละเป็นพระราชกิจแห่งองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าจอมโยธาในแผ่นดินแห่งชาวเคลเดีย

²⁶Come against her from the utmost border; open her storehouses; cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly; let nothing of her be left.

²⁶จงมาต่อสู้กับเธอจากทุกเสี้ยวโลก จงเปิดบรรดาฉางของเธอ จงกองเธอไว้เหมือนอย่างกองข้าวและทำลายเสียจนสิ้นเชิง อย่าให้เธอเหลืออยู่เลย

²⁷Kill all her bulls; let them go down to the slaughter: woe to them! for their day has come, the time of their visitation.

²⁷จงฆ่าวัวผู้ของเธอให้หมด ให้มันทั้งหลายลงไปยังการฆ่า วิบัติแก่มันทั้งหลาย เพราะวันเวลาของมันมาถึงแล้ว คือเวลาแห่งการลงโทษมัน

²⁸The voice of those who flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of Yahweh our God, the vengeance of his temple.

²⁸เสียงของเขาทั้งหลายที่ได้หนีและรอดพ้นจากแผ่นดินบาบิโลน ไปประกาศการแก้แค้นของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเราในศิโยน คือการแก้แค้นแทนพระวิหารของพระองค์

²⁹Call together the archers against Babylon, all those who bend the bow; encamp against her all around; let none of it escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she has done, do to her; for she has been proud against Yahweh, against the Holy One of Israel.

²⁹จงเรียกนักธนูมาต่อสู้กับบาบิโลน คือบรรดาคนที่โก่งธนู จงตั้งค่ายไว้รอบมัน อย่าให้ผู้ใดหนีรอดพ้นไปได้ จงกระทำกับเธอตามการกระทำของเธอ จงกระทำแก่เธออย่างที่เธอได้กระทำแล้ว เพราะเธอจองหองลองดีกับพระเยโฮวาห์ พระองค์ผู้บริสุทธิ์แห่งอิสราเอล

³⁰Therefore her young men will fall in her streets, and all her men of war will be brought to silence in that day, says Yahweh.

³⁰เพราะฉะนั้น คนหนุ่มๆของเธอจะล้มลงตามถนนทั้งหลาย และทหารของเธอทั้งสิ้นจะถูกตัดออกในวันนั้น พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้

³¹Behold, I am against you, you proud one, says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies; for your day has come, the time that I will visit you.

³¹องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าจอมโยธาตรัสว่า ผู้จองหองเอ๋ย ดูเถิด เราต่อสู้กับเจ้า เพราะว่าวันเวลาของเจ้ามาถึงแล้ว คือเวลาที่เราจะลงโทษเจ้า

³²The proud one shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up; and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all who are around him.

³²ผู้จองหองจะสะดุดและล้มลง จะไม่มีผู้ใดพยุงเขาขึ้นได้ และเราจะก่อไฟในบรรดาหัวเมืองของเขา และไฟจะกินบรรดาที่อยู่รอบเขาเสียสิ้น

³³Thus says Yahweh of Armies: The children of Israel and the children of Judah are oppressed together; and all who took them captive hold them fast; they refuse to let them go.

³³พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า ประชาชนอิสราเอลและประชาชนยูดาห์ถูกบีบบังคับด้วยกัน บรรดาผู้ที่จับเขาทั้งหลายไปเป็นเชลยได้ยึดเขาไว้มั่น เขาทั้งหลายปฏิเสธไม่ยอมให้เขาไป

³⁴Their Redeemer is strong; Yahweh of Armies is his name: he will thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

³⁴พระผู้ไถ่ของเขาทั้งหลายนั้นเข้มแข็ง พระนามของพระองค์คือพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระองค์จะทรงแก้คดีของเขาโดยตลอด เพื่อพระองค์จะประทานความสงบแก่แผ่นดิน แต่ประทานความไม่สงบแก่ชาวเมืองบาบิโลน

³⁵A sword is on the Chaldeans, says Yahweh, and on the inhabitants of Babylon, and on her princes, and on her wise men.

³⁵พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า ให้ดาบอยู่เหนือชาวเคลเดีย และเหนือชาวเมืองบาบิโลน และเหนือเจ้านายและนักปราชญ์ของเธอ

³⁶A sword is on the boasters, and they shall become fools; a sword is on her mighty men, and they shall be dismayed.

³⁶ให้ดาบอยู่เหนือผู้มุสา เพื่อเขาจะกลายเป็นคนโง่ไป ให้ดาบอยู่เหนือบรรดานักรบของเธอ เพื่อเขาทั้งหลายจะครั่นคร้าม

³⁷A sword is on their horses, and on their chariots, and on all the mixed people who are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is on her treasures, and they shall be robbed.

³⁷ให้ดาบอยู่เหนือม้าทั้งหลายของเขาและรถรบของเขา และอยู่เหนือบรรดาชนที่ปะปนกันท่ามกลางเขา เพื่อเขาทั้งหลายจะกลายเป็นผู้หญิงไป ให้ดาบอยู่เหนือทรัพย์สมบัติทั้งสิ้นของเขา เพื่อว่าทรัพย์สมบัตินั้นจะถูกปล้นเสีย

³⁸A drought is on her waters, and they shall be dried up; for it is a land of engraved images, and they are mad over idols.

³⁸ให้ความแห้งแล้งอยู่เหนือน้ำทั้งหลายของเธอ เพื่อน้ำทั้งหลายนั้นจะได้แห้งไป เพราะเป็นแผ่นดินแห่งรูปเคารพสลัก และเขาทั้งหลายก็บ้ารูปนั้น

³⁹Therefore the wild animals of the desert with the wolves shall dwell there, and the ostriches shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited forever; neither shall it be lived in from generation to generation.

³⁹เพราะฉะนั้น สัตว์ป่าทั้งหลายและบรรดาหมาจิ้งจอกจะอาศัยในบาบิโลน และนกเค้าแมวจะอาศัยอยู่ในนั้น เมืองนั้นจะไม่มีประชาชนอยู่อีกต่อไปเป็นนิตย์ คือไม่มีชาวเมืองอาศัยอยู่ตลอดชั่วอายุ

⁴⁰As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbor cities of it, says Yahweh, so shall no man dwell there, neither shall any son of man live therein.

⁴⁰พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า เมื่อพระเจ้าได้ทรงคว่ำเมืองโสโดมและเมืองโกโมราห์และหัวเมืองใกล้เคียง ดังนั้นจะไม่มีคนพำนักอยู่ที่นั่น และไม่มีบุตรของมนุษย์คนใดอาศัยอยู่ในเมืองนั้น

⁴¹Behold, a people comes from the north; and a great nation and many kings shall be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

⁴¹ดูเถิด ชนชาติหนึ่งจะมาจากทิศเหนือ ประชาชาติอันเข้มแข็งชาติหนึ่ง และกษัตริย์หลายองค์จะถูกเร้าให้มาจากที่ไกลที่สุดของแผ่นดินโลก

⁴²They lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roars like the sea; and they ride on horses, everyone set in array, as a man to the battle, against you, daughter of Babylon.

⁴²เขาทั้งหลายจะจับคันธนูและหอก เขาทั้งหลายดุร้าย และจะไม่มีความกรุณา เสียงของเขาทั้งหลายจะเหมือนเสียงทะเลคะนอง เขาทั้งหลายจะขี่ม้า เรียงรายกันเป็นคนเข้าสู้สงครามกับเจ้านะ บุตรสาวแห่งบาบิโลนเอ๋ย

⁴³The king of Babylon has heard the news of them, and his hands wax feeble: anguish has taken hold of him, pains as of a woman in labor.

⁴³กษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลนได้ยินข่าวเรื่องนั้น และพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์ก็อ่อนลง ความแสนระทมจับหัวใจเขา เจ็บปวดอย่างผู้หญิงกำลังคลอดบุตร

⁴⁴Behold, the enemy shall come up like a lion from the pride of the Jordan against the strong habitation: for I will suddenly make them run away from it; and whoever is chosen, him will I appoint over it: for who is like me? and who will appoint me a time? and who is the shepherd who can stand before me?

⁴⁴ดูเถิด เขาจะขึ้นมาอย่างสิงโตจากคลื่นของลุ่มแม่น้ำจอร์แดนโจนเข้าใส่คอกของแกะที่แข็งแรง แต่เราจะกระทำให้เขาวิ่งหนีเธอไปอย่างฉับพลัน และใครเป็นผู้ที่เลือกสรรไว้ ที่เราจะแต่งตั้งไว้เหนือเธอ ใครเป็นอย่างเราเล่า ใครจะนัดเราเล่า ผู้เลี้ยงแกะคนใดจะทนยืนอยู่ต่อหน้าเราได้

⁴⁵Therefore hear the counsel of Yahweh, that he has taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he has purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely they shall drag them away, even the little ones of the flock; surely he shall make their habitation desolate over them.

⁴⁵เพราะฉะนั้นจงฟังแผนงานซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกระทำไว้ต่อสู้บาบิโลน และบรรดาพระประสงค์ซึ่งพระองค์ได้ดำริขึ้นต่อสู้กับแผ่นดินของชาวเคลเดีย แน่ละตัวเล็กที่สุดที่อยู่ในฝูงก็ต้องถูกลากเอาไป แน่ละคอกของเขานั้นจะรกร้างไป

⁴⁶At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth trembles, and the cry is heard among the nations.

⁴⁶แผ่นดินโลกสั่นสะเทือนเพราะเสียงของการที่บาบิโลนถูกจับเป็นเชลย และเสียงคร่ำครวญดังไปท่ามกลางบรรดาประชาชาติ"
