1After these things, there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
1หลังจากนั้นก็ถึงเทศกาลเลี้ยงของพวกยิว และพระเยซูก็เสด็จขึ้นไปยังกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม
2Now in Jerusalem by the sheep gate, there is a pool, which is called in Hebrew, “Bethesda,” having five porches.
2ในกรุงเยรูซาเล็มที่ริมประตูแกะมีสระอยู่สระหนึ่ง ภาษาฮีบรูเรียกสระนั้นว่า เบธซาธา เป็นที่ซึ่งมีศาลาห้าหลัง
3In these lay a great multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, or paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water;
3ในศาลาเหล่านั้นมีคนป่วยเป็นอันมากนอนอยู่ คนตาบอด คนง่อย คนผอมแห้ง กำลังคอยน้ำกระเพื่อม
4for an angel went down at certain times into the pool, and stirred up the water. Whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was made whole of whatever disease he had.
4ด้วยมีทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งลงมากวนน้ำในสระนั้นเป็นครั้งคราว เมื่อน้ำกระเพื่อมนั้น ผู้ใดก้าวลงไปในน้ำก่อน ก็จะหายจากโรคที่เขาเป็นอยู่นั้น
5A certain man was there, who had been sick for thirty-eight years.
5ที่นั่นมีชายคนหนึ่งป่วยมาสามสิบแปดปีแล้ว
6When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had been sick for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to be made well?”
6เมื่อพระเยซูทอดพระเนตรคนนั้นนอนอยู่และทรงทราบว่า เขาป่วยอยู่อย่างนั้นนานแล้ว พระองค์ตรัสกับเขาว่า "เจ้าปรารถนาจะหายโรคหรือ"
7The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I’m coming, another steps down before me.”
7คนป่วยนั้นทูลตอบพระองค์ว่า "ท่านเจ้าข้า เมื่อน้ำกำลังกระเพื่อมนั้น ไม่มีผู้ใดที่จะเอาตัวข้าพเจ้าลงไปในสระ และเมื่อข้าพเจ้ากำลังไป คนอื่นก็ลงไปก่อนแล้ว"
8Jesus said to him, “Arise, take up your mat, and walk.”
8พระเยซูตรัสกับเขาว่า "จงลุกขึ้นยกแคร่ของเจ้าและเดินไปเถิด"
9Immediately, the man was made well, and took up his mat and walked. Now it was the Sabbath on that day.
9ในทันใดนั้นคนนั้นก็หายโรค และเขาก็ยกแคร่ของเขาเดินไป วันนั้นเป็นวันสะบาโต
10So the Jews said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath. It is not lawful for you to carry the mat.”
10ดังนั้นพวกยิวจึงพูดกับชายที่หายโรคนั้นว่า "วันนี้เป็นวันสะบาโต ที่เจ้าแบกแคร่ไปนั้นก็ผิดพระราชบัญญัติ"
11He answered them, “He who made me well, the same said to me, ‘Take up your mat, and walk.’ ”
11คนนั้นจึงตอบเขาเหล่านั้นว่า "ท่านที่รักษาข้าพเจ้าให้หายโรคได้สั่งข้าพเจ้าว่า `จงยกแคร่ของเจ้าแบกเดินไปเถิด'"
12Then they asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your mat, and walk’ ?”
12เขาเหล่านั้นถามคนนั้นว่า "คนที่สั่งเจ้าว่า `จงยกแคร่ของเจ้าแบกเดินไปเถิด' นั้น เป็นผู้ใด"
13But he who was healed didn’t know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a crowd being in the place.
13คนที่ได้รับการรักษาให้หายโรคนั้นไม่รู้ว่าเป็นผู้ใด เพราะพระเยซูเสด็จหลบไปแล้ว เนื่องจากขณะนั้นมีคนอยู่ที่นั่นเป็นอันมาก
14Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “Behold, you are made well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you.”
14ภายหลังพระเยซูได้ทรงพบคนนั้นในพระวิหารและตรัสกับเขาว่า "ดูเถิด เจ้าหายโรคแล้ว อย่าทำบาปอีก มิฉะนั้นเหตุร้ายกว่านั้นจะเกิดกับเจ้า"
15The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
15ชายคนนั้นก็ได้ออกไปและบอกพวกยิวว่า ท่านที่ได้รักษาเขาให้หายโรคนั้นคือพระเยซู
16For this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath.
16เหตุฉะนั้นพวกยิวจึงข่มเหงพระเยซู และแสวงหาโอกาสที่จะฆ่าพระองค์ เพราะพระองค์ทรงกระทำเช่นนั้นในวันสะบาโต
17But Jesus answered them, “My Father is still working, so I am working, too.”
17แต่พระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "พระบิดาของเราก็ยังทรงกระทำการอยู่จนถึงบัดนี้ และเราก็ทำด้วย"
18For this cause therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
18เหตุฉะนั้นพวกยิวยิ่งแสวงหาโอกาสที่จะฆ่าพระองค์ มิใช่เพราะพระองค์ล่วงกฎวันสะบาโตเท่านั้น แต่ยังได้เรียกพระเจ้าว่าเป็นบิดาของตนด้วย ซึ่งเป็นการกระทำตนเสมอกับพระเจ้า
19Jesus therefore answered them, “Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise.
19ดังนั้นพระเยซูตรัสกับเขาว่า "เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า พระบุตรจะกระทำสิ่งใดตามใจไม่ได้ นอกจากที่ได้เห็นพระบิดาทรงกระทำ เพราะสิ่งใดที่พระบิดาทรงกระทำ สิ่งนั้นพระบุตรจึงทรงกระทำด้วย
20 For the Father has affection for the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does. He will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
20เพราะว่าพระบิดาทรงรักพระบุตร และทรงสำแดงให้พระบุตรเห็นทุกสิ่งที่พระองค์ทรงกระทำ และพระองค์จะทรงสำแดงให้พระบุตรเห็นการที่ยิ่งใหญ่กว่านั้นอีก เพื่อท่านทั้งหลายจะประหลาดใจ
21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he desires.
21เพราะพระบิดาทรงทำให้คนที่ตายแล้วฟื้นขึ้นมาและมีชีวิตฉันใด ถ้าพระบุตรปรารถนาจะกระทำให้ผู้ใดมีชีวิตก็จะกระทำเหมือนกันฉันนั้น
22 For the Father judges no one, but he has given all judgment to the Son,
22เพราะว่าพระบิดามิได้ทรงพิพากษาผู้ใด แต่พระองค์ได้ทรงมอบการพิพากษาทั้งสิ้นไว้กับพระบุตร
23 that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who doesn’t honor the Son doesn’t honor the Father who sent him.
23เพื่อคนทั้งปวงจะได้ถวายเกียรติแด่พระบุตรเหมือนที่เขาถวายเกียรติแด่พระบิดา ผู้ใดไม่ถวายเกียรติแด่พระบุตร ผู้นั้นก็ไม่ถวายเกียรติแด่พระบิดาผู้ทรงใช้พระบุตรมา
24 “Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has eternal life, and doesn’t come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
24เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า ถ้าผู้ใดฟังคำของเราและเชื่อในพระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้เรามา ผู้นั้นก็มีชีวิตนิรันดร์ และไม่ถูกพิพากษา แต่ได้ผ่านพ้นความตายไปสู่ชีวิตแล้ว
25 Most certainly, I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God’s voice; and those who hear will live.
25เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า เวลาที่กำหนดนั้นใกล้จะถึงแล้ว และบัดนี้ก็ถึงแล้ว คือเมื่อผู้ที่ตายแล้วจะได้ยินพระสุรเสียงแห่งพระบุตรของพระเจ้า และบรรดาผู้ที่ได้ยินจะมีชีวิต
26 For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself.
26เพราะว่าพระบิดาทรงมีชีวิตในพระองค์เองฉันใด พระองค์ก็ได้ทรงประทานให้พระบุตรมีชีวิตในพระองค์ฉันนั้น
27 He also gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.
27และได้ทรงประทานให้พระบุตรมีสิทธิอำนาจที่จะพิพากษาด้วย เพราะพระองค์ทรงเป็นบุตรมนุษย์
28 Don’t marvel at this, for the hour comes, in which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice,
28อย่าประหลาดใจในข้อนี้เลย เพราะใกล้จะถึงเวลาที่บรรดาผู้ที่อยู่ในอุโมงค์ฝังศพจะได้ยินพระสุรเสียงของพระองค์
29 and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.
29และจะได้ออกมา บรรดาผู้ที่ได้ประพฤติดีก็ฟื้นขึ้นสู่ชีวิต บรรดาผู้ที่ได้ประพฤติชั่วก็จะฟื้นขึ้นสู่การพิพากษา
30 I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous; because I don’t seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.
30เราจะทำสิ่งใดตามอำเภอใจไม่ได้ เราได้ยินอย่างไร เราก็พิพากษาอย่างนั้น และการพิพากษาของเราก็ยุติธรรม เพราะเรามิได้มุ่งที่จะทำตามใจของเราเอง แต่ตามพระประสงค์ของพระบิดาผู้ทรงใช้เรามา
31 “If I testify about myself, my witness is not valid.
31ถ้าเราเป็นพยานถึงตัวเราเอง คำพยานของเราก็ไม่จริง
32 It is another who testifies about me. I know that the testimony which he testifies about me is true.
32มีอีกผู้หนึ่งที่เป็นพยานถึงเรา และเรารู้ว่าคำพยานที่พระองค์ทรงเป็นพยานถึงเรานั้น เป็นความจริง
33 You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth.
33ท่านทั้งหลายได้ใช้คนไปหายอห์น และยอห์นก็ได้เป็นพยานถึงความจริง
34 But the testimony which I receive is not from man. However, I say these things that you may be saved.
34เรามิได้รับคำพยานจากมนุษย์ แต่ที่เรากล่าวสิ่งเหล่านี้ก็เพื่อให้ท่านทั้งหลายรอด
35 He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.
35ยอห์นเป็นโคมที่จุดสว่างไสว และท่านทั้งหลายก็พอใจที่จะชื่นชมยินดีชั่วขณะหนึ่งในความสว่างของยอห์นนั้น
36 But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John, for the works which the Father gave me to accomplish, the very works that I do, testify about me, that the Father has sent me.
36แต่คำพยานที่เรามีนั้นยิ่งใหญ่กว่าคำพยานของยอห์น เพราะว่างานที่พระบิดาทรงมอบให้เราทำให้สำเร็จ งานนี้แหละเรากำลังทำอยู่เป็นพยานถึงเราว่าพระบิดาทรงใช้เรามา
37 The Father himself, who sent me, has testified about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.
37และพระบิดาผู้ทรงใช้เรามา พระองค์เองก็ได้ทรงเป็นพยานถึงเรา ท่านทั้งหลายไม่เคยได้ยินพระสุรเสียงของพระองค์ และไม่เคยเห็นรูปร่างของพระองค์
38 You don’t have his word living in you; because you don’t believe him whom he sent.
38และท่านทั้งหลายไม่มีพระดำรัสของพระองค์อยู่ในตัวท่าน เพราะว่าท่านทั้งหลายมิได้เชื่อในพระองค์ผู้ที่พระบิดาทรงใช้มานั้น
39 “You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me.
39จงค้นดูในพระคัมภีร์ เพราะท่านคิดว่าในพระคัมภีร์นั้นมีชีวิตนิรันดร์ และพระคัมภีร์นั้นเป็นพยานถึงเรา
40 Yet you will not come to me, that you may have life.
40แต่ท่านทั้งหลายไม่ยอมมาหาเราเพื่อจะได้ชีวิต
41 I don’t receive glory from men.
41เราไม่รับเกียรติจากมนุษย์
42 But I know you, that you don’t have God’s love in yourselves.
42แต่เรารู้ว่าท่านไม่มีความรักพระเจ้าในตัวท่าน
43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you don’t receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.
43เราได้มาในพระนามพระบิดาของเรา และท่านทั้งหลายมิได้รับเรา ถ้าผู้อื่นจะมาในนามของเขาเอง ท่านทั้งหลายก็จะรับผู้นั้น
44 How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you don’t seek the glory that comes from the only God?
44ผู้ที่ได้รับยศศักดิ์จากกันเอง และมิได้แสวงหายศศักดิ์ซึ่งมาจากพระเจ้าเท่านั้น ท่านจะเชื่อผู้นั้นได้อย่างไร
45 “Don’t think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you, even Moses, on whom you have set your hope.
45อย่าคิดว่าเราจะฟ้องท่านทั้งหลายต่อพระบิดา มีผู้ฟ้องท่านแล้ว คือโมเสส ผู้ซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายหวังใจอยู่
46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote about me.
46ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายเชื่อโมเสส ท่านทั้งหลายก็จะเชื่อเรา เพราะโมเสสได้เขียนกล่าวถึงเรา
47 But if you don’t believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”
47แต่ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายไม่เชื่อเรื่องที่โมเสสเขียนแล้ว ท่านจะเชื่อถ้อยคำของเราอย่างไรได้"
