¹Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things.

¹เหตุฉะนั้น โอ มนุษย์เอ๋ย ไม่ว่าท่านจะเป็นใคร เมื่อท่านกล่าวโทษผู้อื่นนั้น ท่านไม่มีข้อแก้ตัวเลย เพราะเมื่อท่านกล่าวโทษผู้อื่น ท่านก็ได้กล่าวโทษตัวเองด้วย เพราะว่าท่านที่กล่าวโทษเขาก็ยังประพฤติอยู่อย่างเดียวกับเขา

²We know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.

²แต่เรารู้แน่ว่าการที่พระเจ้าทรงพิพากษาลงโทษคนที่ประพฤติเช่นนั้นก็เป็นตามความจริง

³Do you think this, O man who judges those who practice such things, and do the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?

³โอ มนุษย์เอ๋ย ท่านที่กล่าวโทษคนที่ประพฤติเช่นนั้น และท่านเองยังประพฤติเช่นเดียวกับเขา ท่านคิดหรือว่าท่านจะพ้นจากการพิพากษาลงโทษของพระเจ้าได้

⁴Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

⁴หรือว่าท่านประมาทพระกรุณาคุณอันอุดมและความอดกลั้นพระทัย และความอดทนของพระองค์ ท่านไม่รู้หรือว่า พระกรุณาคุณของพระเจ้านั้นมุ่งที่จะชักนำท่านให้กลับใจใหม่

⁵But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God;

⁵แต่เพราะท่านใจแข็งกระด้างไม่ยอมกลับใจ ท่านจึงส่ำสมพระพิโรธให้แก่ตัวเองในวันแห่งพระพิโรธนั้น ซึ่งพระเจ้าจะทรงสำแดงการพิพากษาลงโทษที่เที่ยงธรรมให้ประจักษ์

⁶who “will pay back to everyone according to their works:” Psalm 62:12; Proverbs 24:12

⁶พระองค์จะทรงประทานแก่ทุกคนตามควรแก่การกระทำของเขา

⁷to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory, honor, and incorruptibility, eternal life;

⁷สำหรับคนที่พากเพียรทำความดี แสวงหาสง่าราศี เกียรติ และความเป็นอมตะนั้น พระองค์จะประทานชีวิตนิรันดร์ให้

⁸but to those who are self-seeking, and don’t obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, will be wrath and indignation,

⁸แต่พระองค์จะทรงพระพิโรธ และลงพระอาชญาแก่คนที่มักยกตนข่มท่านและไม่เชื่อฟังความจริง แต่เชื่อฟังความอธรรม

⁹oppression and anguish, on every soul of man who works evil, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

⁹ความทุกข์เวทนาจะเกิดแก่จิตใจทุกคนที่ประพฤติชั่ว แก่พวกยิวก่อนและแก่พวกต่างชาติด้วย

¹⁰But glory, honor, and peace go to every man who works good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

¹⁰แต่สง่าราศี เกียรติ และสันติสุขจะเกิดมีแก่ทุกคนที่ประพฤติดี แก่พวกยิวก่อนและแก่พวกต่างชาติด้วย

¹¹For there is no partiality with God.

¹¹เพราะว่าพระเจ้าไม่ได้ทรงเห็นแก่หน้าผู้ใดเลย

¹²For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without the law. As many as have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.

¹²เพราะคนทั้งหลายที่ไม่มีพระราชบัญญัติและทำบาปจะต้องพินาศโดยไม่อ้างพระราชบัญญัติ และคนทั้งหลายที่มีพระราชบัญญัติและทำบาปก็จะต้องถูกพิพากษาตามพระราชบัญญัติ

¹³For it isn’t the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law will be justified

¹³(เพราะว่าคนที่เพียงแต่ฟังพระราชบัญญัติเท่านั้น หาใช่ผู้ชอบธรรมจำเพาะพระพักตร์พระเจ้าไม่ แต่คนที่ประพฤติตามพระราชบัญญัติต่างหากเป็นผู้ชอบธรรม

¹⁴(for when Gentiles who don’t have the law do by nature the things of the law, these, not having the law, are a law to themselves,

¹⁴เพราะเมื่อชนต่างชาติซึ่งไม่มีพระราชบัญญัติได้ประพฤติตามพระราชบัญญัติโดยปกติวิสัย คนเหล่านี้แม้ไม่มีพระราชบัญญัติก็เป็นพระราชบัญญัติแก่ตัวเอง

¹⁵in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience testifying with them, and their thoughts among themselves accusing or else excusing them)

¹⁵คือแสดงให้เห็นหลักความประพฤติที่เป็นตามพระราชบัญญัตินั้นมีจารึกอยู่ในจิตใจของเขา และใจสำนึกผิดชอบก็เป็นพยานของเขาด้วย ความคิดขัดแย้งต่างๆของเขานั้นแหละ จะกล่าวโทษตัวหรืออาจจะแก้ตัวให้เขา)

¹⁶in the day when God will judge the secrets of men, according to my Good News, by Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ในวันที่พระเจ้าจะทรงพิพากษาความลับของมนุษย์โดยพระเยซูคริสต์ ทั้งนี้ตามข่าวประเสริฐที่ข้าพเจ้าได้ประกาศนั้น

¹⁷Indeed you bear the name of a Jew, and rest on the law, and glory in God,

¹⁷ดูเถิด ท่านเรียกตัวเองว่า ยิว และพึ่งพระราชบัญญัติและยกพระเจ้าขึ้นอวด

¹⁸and know his will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,

¹⁸และว่าท่านรู้จักพระทัยของพระองค์ และเห็นชอบในสิ่งที่ประเสริฐ เพราะว่าท่านได้เรียนรู้ในพระราชบัญญัติ

¹⁹and are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,

¹⁹และท่านมั่นใจว่า ท่านเป็นผู้จูงคนตาบอด เป็นความสว่างให้แก่คนทั้งหลายที่อยู่ในความมืด

²⁰a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babies, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth.

²⁰เป็นผู้สอนคนโง่ เป็นครูของเด็ก เพราะท่านมีแบบอย่างของความรู้และความจริงในพระราชบัญญัตินั้น

²¹You therefore who teach another, don’t you teach yourself? You who preach that a man shouldn’t steal, do you steal?

²¹ฉะนั้นท่านซึ่งเป็นผู้สอนคนอื่นจะไม่สอนตัวเองหรือ เมื่อท่านเทศนาว่าไม่ควรลักทรัพย์ ตัวท่านเองลักหรือเปล่า

²²You who say a man shouldn’t commit adultery. Do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?

²²ท่านผู้ที่สอนว่าไม่ควรล่วงประเวณี ตัวท่านเองล่วงประเวณีหรือเปล่า ท่านผู้รังเกียจรูปเคารพ ตัวท่านเองปล้นวิหารหรือเปล่า

²³You who glory in the law, through your disobedience of the law do you dishonor God?

²³ท่านผู้โอ้อวดในพระราชบัญญัติ ตัวท่านเองยังลบหลู่พระเจ้าด้วยการประพฤติผิดพระราชบัญญัติหรือเปล่า

²⁴For “the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” Isaiah 52:5; Ezekiel 36:22 just as it is written.

²⁴เพราะมีเขียนไว้แล้วว่า `คนต่างชาติพูดหมิ่นประมาทต่อพระนามของพระเจ้าก็เพราะท่านทั้งหลาย'

²⁵For circumcision indeed profits, if you are a doer of the law, but if you are a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.

²⁵ถ้าท่านประพฤติตามพระราชบัญญัติ พิธีเข้าสุหนัตก็เป็นประโยชน์จริง แต่ถ้าท่านละเมิดพระราชบัญญัติ การที่ท่านเข้าสุหนัตนั้นก็เหมือนกับว่าไม่ได้เข้าเลย

²⁶If therefore the uncircumcised keep the ordinances of the law, won’t his uncircumcision be accounted as circumcision?

²⁶เหตุฉะนั้น ถ้าผู้ที่ไม่ได้เข้าสุหนัตยังประพฤติตามความชอบธรรมแห่งพระราชบัญญัติแล้ว การที่เขาไม่ได้เข้าสุหนัตนั้นจะถือเหมือนกับว่าเขาได้เข้าสุหนัตแล้วไม่ใช่หรือ

²⁷Won’t the uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfills the law, judge you, who with the letter and circumcision are a transgressor of the law?

²⁷และคนทั้งหลายที่ไม่เข้าสุหนัตซึ่งเป็นตามธรรมชาติอยู่แล้ว แต่ประพฤติตามพระราชบัญญัติ เขาจะปรับโทษท่านผู้มีประมวลพระราชบัญญัติและได้เข้าสุหนัตแล้ว แต่ยังละเมิดพระราชบัญญัตินั้น

²⁸For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh;

²⁸เพราะว่ายิวแท้ มิใช่คนที่เป็นยิวแต่ภายนอกเท่านั้น และการเข้าสุหนัตแท้ก็ไม่ใช่การเข้าสุหนัตซึ่งปรากฏที่เนื้อหนังเท่านั้น

²⁹but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not from men, but from God.

²⁹คนที่เป็นยิวแท้ คือคนที่เป็นยิวภายใน และการเข้าสุหนัตแท้นั้นเป็นเรื่องของจิตใจตามจิตวิญญาณ มิใช่ตามตัวบทบัญญัติ คนอย่างนั้นพระเจ้าสรรเสริญ มนุษย์ไม่สรรเสริญ
