1耶穌受試探（可1:12~13；路4:1~13）隨後，耶穌被聖靈帶到曠野，受魔鬼的試探。
1Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
2耶穌禁食了四十晝夜，就餓了，
2And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he afterward hungered.
3試探者前來對他說：“你若是 神的兒子，就吩咐這些石頭變成食物吧！”
3And the tempter came and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.
4耶穌回答：“經上記著：‘人活著，不是單靠食物，更要靠 神口裡所出的一切話。’”
4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
5隨後，魔鬼帶耶穌進了聖城，使他站在殿頂上，
5Then the devil taketh him into the holy city; and he set him on the pinnacle of the temple,
6對他說：“你若是 神的兒子，就跳下去吧！因為經上記著：‘ 神為了你，會吩咐自己的使者用手托住你，免得你的腳碰到石頭。’”
6and saith unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and, On their hands they shall bear thee up, Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7耶穌對他說：“經上又記著：‘不可試探主你的 神。’”
7Jesus said unto him, Again it is written, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God.
8最後，魔鬼帶耶穌上了一座極高的山，把世界各國和各國的榮華都指給他看。
8Again, the devil taketh him unto an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9並且對他說：“你只要跪下來拜我，我就把這一切都給你。”
9and he said unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10但耶穌說：“撒但，走開！經上記著：‘當拜主你的 神，單要事奉他。’”
10Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
11於是魔鬼離開了耶穌，有天使前來服事他。
11Then the devil leaveth him; and behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
12耶穌在加利利傳道（可1:14~20；路4:14~15，5:1~11，6:17~19；約1:35~42）耶穌聽見約翰被捕，就往加利利去。
12Now when he heard that John was delivered up, he withdrew into Galilee;
13他又離開拿撒勒，往西布倫和拿弗他利境內近海的迦百農去，住在那裡，
13and leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali:
14為了要應驗以賽亞先知所說的：
14that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
15“西布倫地、拿弗他利地，沿海之路，約旦河外，外族人的加利利啊！
15The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, Toward the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,
16住在黑暗中的人民，看見了大光；死亡幽暗之地的居民，有光照亮他們。”
16The people that sat in darkness Saw a great light, And to them that sat in the region and shadow of death, To them did light spring up.
17從那時起，耶穌就開始傳道，說：“天國近了，你們應當悔改。”
17From that time began Jesus to preach, and to say, Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
18耶穌在加利利海邊行走的時候，看見兄弟二人，就是名叫彼得的西門和他的弟弟安得烈，正在把網撒到海裡去；他們是漁夫。
18And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brethren, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishers.
19耶穌就對他們說：“來跟從我，我要使你們作得人的漁夫。”
19And he saith unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you fishers of men.
20他們立刻撇下網，跟從了他。
20And they straightway left the nets, and followed him.
21耶穌又往前走，看見另一對兄弟，就是西庇太的兒子雅各和約翰，正和父親西庇太在船上整理魚網，他就呼召他們。
21And going on from thence he saw two other brethren, James the [son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
22他們立刻離了船，別了父親，跟從了耶穌。
22And they straightway left the boat and their father, and followed him.
23耶穌走遍加利利，在各會堂裡教導人，宣揚天國的福音，醫治民間各種疾病、各種病症。
23And Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of disease and all manner of sickness among the people.
24他的名聲傳遍了敘利亞全地，人們就把一切患病的，就是患各種疾病、疼痛、鬼附、癲癇、癱瘓的，都帶到他面前，他就醫好他們。
24And the report of him went forth into all Syria: and they brought unto him all that were sick, holden with divers diseases and torments, possessed with demons, and epileptic, and palsied; and he healed them.
25於是有許多人從加利利、低加波利、耶路撒冷、猶太和約旦河東來跟從耶穌。
25And there followed him great multitudes from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judaea and [from] beyond the Jordan.
