1該隱和亞伯亞當和他的妻子夏娃同房，夏娃就懷孕，生了該隱，就說：“藉著耶和華的幫助，我得了一個男兒。”
1The man knew Eve his wife. She conceived, and gave birth to Cain, and said, “I have gotten a man with Yahweh’s help.”
2她又生了該隱的弟弟亞伯。亞伯是牧羊的，該隱是種地的。
2Again she gave birth, to Cain’s brother Abel. Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3有一天，該隱把地裡的出產拿來，當作禮物獻給耶和華。
3As time passed, it happened that Cain brought an offering to Yahweh from the fruit of the ground.
4亞伯也把自己羊群中一些頭生的，和羊的脂油拿來獻上。耶和華看中了亞伯和他的禮物；
4Abel also brought some of the firstborn of his flock and of its fat. Yahweh respected Abel and his offering,
5只是沒有看中該隱和他的禮物。該隱就非常忿怒，垂頭喪氣。
5but he didn’t respect Cain and his offering. Cain was very angry, and the expression on his face fell.
6耶和華對該隱說：“你為甚麼忿怒呢？你為甚麼垂頭喪氣呢？
6Yahweh said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why has the expression of your face fallen?
7你若行得好，豈不可以抬起頭來嗎？你若行得不好，罪就伏在門口了；它要纏住你，你卻要制伏它。”
7If you do well, will it not be lifted up? If you don’t do well, sin crouches at the door. Its desire is for you, but you are to rule over it.”
8該隱對他的弟弟亞伯說：“我們到田間去吧。”他們正在田間的時候，該隱就起來襲擊他的弟弟亞伯，把他殺了。
8Cain said to Abel, his brother, “Let’s go into the field.” It happened when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel, his brother, and killed him.
9耶和華問該隱：“你的弟弟亞伯在哪裡？”他回答：“我不知道；難道我是看守我弟弟的嗎？”
9Yahweh said to Cain, “Where is Abel, your brother?” He said, “I don’t know. Am I my brother’s keeper?”
10耶和華說：“你作了甚麼事呢？你弟弟的血有聲音從地裡向我呼叫。
10Yahweh said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries to me from the ground.
11地開了口，從你手裡接受了你弟弟的血，現在你要從這地受咒詛。
11Now you are cursed because of the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
12你種地，地也不再給你效力；你必在地上流離失所。”
12From now on, when you till the ground, it won’t yield its strength to you. You shall be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth.”
13該隱對耶和華說：“我的刑罰太重，過於我所能擔當。
13Cain said to Yahweh, “My punishment is greater than I can bear.
14看哪，今日你趕逐我離開這地，以致我要躲避你的面；我必在地上流離失所，遇見我的，都要殺我。”
14Behold, you have driven me out this day from the surface of the ground. I will be hidden from your face, and I will be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth. It will happen that whoever finds me will kill me.”
15耶和華對該隱說：“絕不會這樣，殺該隱的，必遭報七倍。”耶和華就給該隱立了一個記號，免得遇見他的人擊殺他。
15Yahweh said to him, “Therefore whoever slays Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold.” Yahweh appointed a sign for Cain, lest any finding him should strike him.
16於是該隱從耶和華面前出去，住在伊甸東邊的挪得地。
16Cain went out from Yahweh’s presence, and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
17該隱的後代該隱和妻子同房，她就懷孕，生了以諾。該隱建造了一座城，就按著他兒子的名，給那城叫作以諾。
17Cain knew his wife. She conceived, and gave birth to Enoch. He built a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
18以諾生以拿，以拿生米戶雅利，米戶雅利生瑪土撒利，瑪土撒利生拉麥。
18To Enoch was born Irad. Irad became the father of Mehujael. Mehujael became the father of Methushael. Methushael became the father of Lamech.
19拉麥娶了兩個妻子，一個名叫亞大，另一個名叫洗拉。
19Lamech took two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
20亞大生雅八，雅八就是居住帳棚、牧養牲畜的人的鼻祖。
20Adah gave birth to Jabal, who was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock.
21雅八的兄弟名叫猶八；猶八是所有彈琴吹簫的人的鼻祖。
21His brother’s name was Jubal, who was the father of all who handle the harp and pipe.
22洗拉也生了土八．該隱，就是打造各種銅鐵器具的匠人；土八．該隱的妹妹是拿瑪。
22Zillah also gave birth to Tubal Cain, the forger of every cutting instrument of brass and iron. Tubal Cain’s sister was Naamah.
23拉麥對他的兩個妻子說：“亞大和洗拉，要聽我的聲音；拉麥的妻子，聆聽我的話：壯年人傷我，我必殺他；青年人損我，我必害他；
23Lamech said to his wives, “Adah and Zillah, hear my voice. You wives of Lamech, listen to my speech, for I have slain a man for wounding me, a young man for bruising me.
24人若殺該隱，要遭報七倍；人若殺拉麥，必遭報七十個七倍！”
24If Cain will be avenged seven times, truly Lamech seventy-seven times.”
25塞特和以挪士亞當又和妻子同房，她就生了一個兒子，給他起名叫塞特，因為她說：“ 神給我立了另一個後裔代替亞伯，因為該隱殺了他。”
25Adam knew his wife again. She gave birth to a son, and named him Seth, “for God has appointed me another child instead of Abel, for Cain killed him.”
26塞特也生了一個兒子，就給他起名叫以挪士。那時人才開始呼求耶和華的名。
26There was also born a son to Seth, and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on Yahweh’s name.
