¹Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

¹瑣法首次發言，責約伯自義拿瑪人瑣法回答說：

²Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?

²“這許多的話怎可不回答，多嘴多舌的人怎能算為義呢？

³Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?

³你胡言亂語可使人不作聲嗎？你嘲笑的時候，無人責備嗎？

⁴For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.

⁴你說：‘我的道理純全，我在你眼前潔淨。’

⁵But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;

⁵但願　神說話，願他開口跟你說話，

⁶And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.

⁶把智慧的奧祕向你顯明，因為真的智慧有兩面。你當知道　神已忘記了你一部分的罪孽。

⁷Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?

⁷　神洞悉人的罪　神高深莫測之事你怎能查出呢？全能者的終極你怎能洞悉呢？

⁸It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?

⁸他的智慧高於諸天，你能作甚麼呢？比陰間還深，你怎能識透？

⁹The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.

⁹他的智慧比地長，比海寬。

¹⁰If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?

¹⁰他若過來把人囚禁，召人受審，誰能阻止他呢？

¹¹For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it?

¹¹因為他認識虛謊的人，他看見欺詐，怎能不鑒察？

¹²For vain men would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass's colt.

¹²虛妄的人悟出慧心，就像野驢生子為人。

¹³If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;

¹³勸約伯悔改離罪你若心裡歸向他，又向他伸手禱告；

¹⁴If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.

¹⁴你若遠遠地除掉你手裡的欺詐，不讓不義居在你的帳棚裡；

¹⁵For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:

¹⁵那麼你必仰面，毫無愧色；你也必堅定穩妥，無所懼怕。

¹⁶Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:

¹⁶你必忘記你的苦楚，回憶好像逝去的流水，

¹⁷And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday: thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.

¹⁷你們的人生必明亮如正午，雖然黑暗仍像早晨。

¹⁸And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.

¹⁸因為有指望，你必安穩，你必四處巡查，安然睡覺。

¹⁹Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.

¹⁹你躺臥，不受驚嚇，必有很多人求你的情面。

²⁰But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.

²⁰但惡人的眼目必昏花，逃亡之路也必斷絕，他們的指望就是最後的一口氣。”
