¹Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

¹　神發言，回答約伯那時，耶和華在旋風中回答約伯，說：

²Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

²“這以無知無識的言語，使我的旨意暗晦不明的是誰呢？

³Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.

³現在你要如勇士束腰，我要問你，你要告訴我。

⁴Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

⁴創造的奇妙我奠定大地根基的時候，你在哪裡呢？你若有聰明，就只管說吧。

⁵Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

⁵你一定曉得是誰定大地的尺度，是誰把準繩拉在大地之上？

⁶Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

⁶地的基礎奠在哪裡，地的角石是誰安放的？

⁷When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

⁷那時晨星一起歌唱，　神的眾子也都歡呼。

⁸Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?

⁸海水沖出如嬰孩出母胎，那時誰用門把海水關閉呢？

⁹When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,

⁹是我以雲彩當作海的衣服，以幽暗當作包裹海的布；

¹⁰And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,

¹⁰我為海定界限，又安置門閂和門戶，

¹¹And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

¹¹說：‘你只可到這裡，不可越過，你狂傲的波浪要在這裡止住。’

¹²Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;

¹²自你有生以來，你何曾吩咐過晨光照耀，使黎明的曙光知道自己的本位，

¹³That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?

¹³叫這光照遍大地的四極，把惡人從那裡抖掉呢？

¹⁴It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.

¹⁴因著這光，地面改變如在泥上蓋上印，萬象顯出如衣服一樣。

¹⁵And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken.

¹⁵惡人必得不到亮光，高舉的膀臂必被折斷。

¹⁶Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?

¹⁶你曾到過海的泉源，在深淵的底處行走過嗎？

¹⁷Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?

¹⁷死亡的門曾向你顯露嗎？死蔭的門你曾見過嗎？

¹⁸Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.

¹⁸地的廣闊，你明白嗎？你若完全知道，就只管說吧。

¹⁹Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,

¹⁹哪條是到光明居所的道路？黑暗的本位在哪裡？

²⁰That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?

²⁰你能把光與暗帶到它們的境地嗎？你曉得通到它們居所的路嗎？

²¹Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?

²¹你是知道的，因為那時你已經出生了，你一生的日數也很多。

²²Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,

²²你曾入過雪庫，或見過雹倉嗎？

²³Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?

²³這些雪雹是我為降患難的時候，為打仗和爭戰的日子所存留的。

²⁴By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?

²⁴光從哪條路散開，東風從哪裡分散在地上？

²⁵Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;

²⁵誰為大雨分水道，誰為雷電定道路？

²⁶To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;

²⁶使雨降在無人之地，落在無人居住的曠野，

²⁷To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?

²⁷使荒廢之地得著滋潤，使青草在乾旱之地得以長起來呢？

²⁸Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?

²⁸雨有父親嗎？露珠是誰生的呢？

²⁹Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?

²⁹冰出自誰的胎？天上的霜是誰所生的呢？

³⁰The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.

³⁰眾水堅硬如石頭，深淵的表面凍結成冰。

³¹Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?

³¹你能繫住昴星的結嗎？你能解開參星的帶嗎？

³²Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?

³²你能按時領出瑪查魯夫星系嗎？你能引導北斗和隨從它的眾星嗎？

³³Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?

³³你曉得天的定例嗎？你能在地上建立天的權威嗎？

³⁴Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?

³⁴你能向密雲揚聲嗎？你能使洪水淹沒你嗎？

³⁵Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go and say unto thee, Here we are?

³⁵你能差派閃電，閃電就發出，並且對你說：‘我們在這裡’嗎？

³⁶Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?

³⁶誰把智慧放在懷裡，或把聰明賜於人的心中？

³⁷Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven,

³⁷塵土融合成團，土塊黏結在一起的時候，

³⁸When the dust groweth into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together?

³⁸誰能憑智慧數算雲天呢？誰能把天上的水袋傾倒呢？

³⁹Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions,

³⁹獅子在洞中蹲伏，在藏身之處躺臥埋伏的時候，

⁴⁰When they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait?

⁴⁰你能為母獅獵取食物嗎？你能使食慾飽足嗎？

⁴¹Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat.

⁴¹烏鴉雛鳥因缺乏食物飛來飛去，向　神哀求的時候，誰為烏鴉預備食物呢？”
