¹Elihu also proceeded, and said,

¹Elihu alkoi jälleen puhua ja sanoi:

²Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf.

²-- Malta hetki, niin minä opetan sinua vielä, vielä minulla on sanoja Jumalan puolustukseksi.

³I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

³Syvältä minä ammennan tietoni ja osoitan, kuka on oikeassa: hän, joka on minut luonut.

⁴For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.

⁴Minä en puhu perättömiä. Sinun edessäsi seisoo mies, jolla on oikea tieto.

⁵Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.

⁵Katso Jumalan suuruutta! Ketään hän ei hylkää. Hän on voimakas ja viisas.

⁶He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.

⁶Jumalattoman hän ei anna elää, mutta osattomalle hän turvaa oikeuden.

⁷He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.

⁷Jumala ei käännä katsettaan pois hurskaasta vaan nostaa hänet korkeaan asemaan, kuninkaitten vierelle, ja siinä hän pysyy.

⁸And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;

⁸Jos joku on vankilan kurjuudessa kahleisiin kytkettynä,

⁹Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.

⁹se on hänelle opiksi: Jumala muistuttaa häntä hänen teoistaan, väkivallan teoista, joihin hän on syyllistynyt.

¹⁰He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

¹⁰Jumala avaa hänen korvansa kuulemaan varoituksen sanaa, kieltää häntä jatkamasta pahuuden töitä.

¹¹If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

¹¹Jos hän silloin kuulee Jumalan ääntä ja jälleen tottelee häntä, hän saa osakseen onnen päiviä, hänen vuotensa täyttyvät ilosta.

¹²But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

¹²Mutta jos hän ei kuule, keihäs lävistää hänet, ja hän kuolee mitään oppimatta.

¹³But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.

¹³Rienaaja uhoaa vihaansa eikä pyydä apua edes silloin, kun Jumala hänet vangitsee.

¹⁴They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.

¹⁴Hän kuolee nuorena, hänen elämänsä päättyy kuin porttopoikien elämä.

¹⁵He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.

¹⁵Mutta osattomalle kurjuus on pelastukseksi, ahdingon keskellä Jumala avaa hänen korvansa kuulemaan.

¹⁶Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.

¹⁶Myös sinut hän auttoi ahdingoista. Elit leveästi, huolta vailla. Sinun pöytäsi notkui rasvaisia herkkuja.

¹⁷But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.

¹⁷Mutta nyt sinua on kohdannut rangaistus synneistäsi, sinä saat ansiosi mukaan.

¹⁸Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.

¹⁸Vaikka olet vihoissasi, malta mielesi! Millään rahalla et voi ostaa itseäsi vapaaksi.

¹⁹Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.

¹⁹Eivät sinun huutosi voi pelastaa sinua tästä ahdingosta, eivät mitkään sinun ponnistuksesi.

²⁰Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.

²⁰Turha on toivoen odottaa yötä, jolloin kansat nousevat -- ne tuhoutuvat.

²¹Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.

²¹Varo, älä taivu vääryyden tielle, vaikka se ehkä houkuttaakin enemmän kuin kärsimys.

²²Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?

²²Katso, miten suuri on Jumalan valta! Kuka voisi olla hänen veroisensa opettaja?

²³Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?

²³Kuka voisi määrätä hänen tiensä, kuka voi sanoa hänelle: "Teit väärin!"

²⁴Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.

²⁴Muista ylistää hänen töitään, niistä ihmiset ovat aina laulaneet.

²⁵Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.

²⁵Niitä ihaillaan, niitä ihmetellään, vaikka ne nähdään vain kaukaa.

²⁶Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.

²⁶Korkea on Jumala, me emme voi häntä tuntea, hänen vuosiensa määrä on tutkimaton.

²⁷For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:

²⁷Hän vetää vesipisarat ylös taivaaseen ja siivilöi ne taivaan vesistä sateeksi,

²⁸Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.

²⁸jota pilvet tihkuvat, vihmovat kaikille ihmisille.

²⁹Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?

²⁹Kuka ymmärtäisi, miten pilvet voivat leijua ilmassa, kuka ymmärtäisi jylinän, joka tulee Jumalan majasta?

³⁰Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.

³⁰Pilvien yli hän väläyttää valonsa, meren syvyydet hän peittää varjoon.

³¹For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.

³¹Pilvien voimalla hän rankaisee kansoja, niiden avulla hän ne runsaasti ruokkii.

³²With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.

³²Hän ottaa käsiinsä salaman, hän käskee, ja se tavoittaa maalinsa.

³³The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.

³³Jylinä ilmoittaa hänen tulostaan, karjakin aavistaa, kun hän lähestyy.
