¹O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.

¹Kiittäkää Herraa, huutakaa avuksi hänen nimeään, kertokaa kansoille hänen suurista teoistaan!

²Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.

²Laulakaa hänelle, ylistäkää häntä, kertokaa hänen ihmetöistään.

³Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.

³Ylistäkää hänen pyhää nimeään. Iloitkoot kaikki, jotka etsivät Herraa!

⁴Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.

⁴Turvautukaa Herraan ja hänen voimaansa, etsikää aina hänen kasvojaan.

⁵Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

⁵Muistakaa aina hänen ihmetyönsä, hänen tunnustekonsa ja hänen tuomionsa,

⁶O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.

⁶te Abrahamin, hänen palvelijansa, jälkeläiset, te Jaakobin pojat, jotka hän on valinnut.

⁷He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.

⁷Hän on Herra, meidän Jumalamme, hänen valtansa ulottuu yli koko maanpiirin.

⁸He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

⁸Hän muistaa aina liittonsa, tuhansille sukupolville antamansa lupauksen,

⁹Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;

⁹liiton, jonka hän teki Abrahamin kanssa, valan, jonka hän vannoi Iisakille.

¹⁰And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:

¹⁰Hän vahvisti sen ohjeeksi Jaakobille, teki Israelin kanssa ikuisen liiton.

¹¹Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:

¹¹Hän sanoi: "Sinulle minä annan Kanaaninmaan, perintöosaksi minä määrään sen teille."

¹²When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.

¹²Heitä oli vain pieni määrä, he olivat vain vähäinen joukko muukalaisia,

¹³When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;

¹³joka vaelsi kansan luota toisen luo, valtakunnasta toiseen.

¹⁴He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;

¹⁴Mutta hän ei antanut kenenkään sortaa heitä. Heidän tähtensä hän varoitti kuninkaita:

¹⁵Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

¹⁵"Älkää koskeko niihin, jotka olen voidellut, älkää tehkö pahaa minun profeetoilleni."

¹⁶Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.

¹⁶Kun Herra antoi nälänhädän kohdata maata ja ehdytti leivän saannin,

¹⁷He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:

¹⁷hän lähetti heidän edellään miehen, Joosefin, joka myytiin orjaksi.

¹⁸Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:

¹⁸Joosefin jalkoihin pantiin kahleet, hän kantoi rautarengasta kaulassaan,

¹⁹Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.

¹⁹kunnes hänen sanansa kävivät toteen. Silloin Herra osoitti hänet viattomaksi.

²⁰The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.

²⁰Kuningas vapautti hänet, kansojen hallitsija käski avata kahleet.

²¹He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance:

²¹Hän antoi valtakuntansa Joosefin hallintaan, kaiken omaisuutensa hänen hoidettavakseen,

²²To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.

²²pani hänet käskemään ruhtinaita ja opettamaan viisautta vanhimmille.

²³Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

²³Niin Israel tuli Egyptiin, Jaakob muukalaisena Haamin maahan.

²⁴And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.

²⁴Herra teki kansansa hedelmälliseksi ja paljon vahvemmaksi kuin sen viholliset.

²⁵He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants.

²⁵Näin hän muutti egyptiläisten mielen, ja he alkoivat vihata hänen kansaansa, vehkeillä hänen palvelijoitaan vastaan.

²⁶He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.

²⁶Silloin Herra lähetti Mooseksen, palvelijansa, ja Aaronin, valitsemansa miehen,

²⁷They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.

²⁷ja nämä tekivät hänen tunnustekojaan, tekivät hänen ihmeitään Haamin maassa.

²⁸He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.

²⁸Herra pimensi maan, tuli synkeä pimeys, mutta egyptiläiset eivät taipuneet.

²⁹He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.

²⁹Hän muutti heidän virtansa vereksi ja tappoi heidän kalansa.

³⁰Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.

³⁰Heidän maansa vilisi sammakoita, niitä oli jo kuninkaan palatsissakin.

³¹He spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts.

³¹Herra käski, ja paarmat tulivat, syöpäläiset levisivät yli maan.

³²He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.

³²Hän lähetti sateen sijasta raekuuroja ja löi tulen lieskoilla heidän maataan.

³³He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts.

³³Hän tuhosi viiniköynnökset ja viikunatarhat ja silpoi kaikki heidän puunsa.

³⁴He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,

³⁴Hän käski, ja heinäsirkat tulivat, tuli niiden toukkien luvuton joukko,

³⁵And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.

³⁵ja ne söivät kaiken vihreän heidän maastaan, ahmivat sadon vainioilta.

³⁶He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.

³⁶Hän surmasi kaikki heidän esikoisensa, heidän miehuutensa ensi hedelmät.

³⁷He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.

³⁷Niin hän vei israelilaiset pois Egyptistä: he lähtivät kantaen hopeaa ja kultaa, kaikki heimot epäröimättä, horjumatta.

³⁸Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.

³⁸Koko Egypti iloitsi heidän lähdöstään, sillä kansa pelkäsi heitä.

³⁹He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.

³⁹Herra levitti pilven heidän verhokseen ja pani tulen valaisemaan yötä.

⁴⁰The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

⁴⁰He pyysivät ruokaa, ja hän lähetti viiriäisiä ja ravitsi heidät taivaan leivällä.

⁴¹He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.

⁴¹Hän avasi kallion, ja siitä kumpusi vettä, vesi juoksi virtanaan pitkin kuivaa maata.

⁴²For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.

⁴²Herra muisti pyhän lupauksensa, jonka hän oli antanut palvelijalleen Abrahamille.

⁴³And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:

⁴³Hän vei kansansa pois, ja kansa iloitsi, riemu raikui, kun hän vei valittunsa.

⁴⁴And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people;

⁴⁴Hän antoi heille toisten kansojen maat, he saivat korjata näiden työn hedelmät,

⁴⁵That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the LORD.

⁴⁵ja heidän tuli noudattaa Herran käskyjä, pitää kunniassa hänen lakinsa. Halleluja!
