¹The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

¹Laulunjohtajalle. Daavidin psalmi. (H19:2)Taivaat julistavat Jumalan kunniaa, taivaankansi kertoo hänen teoistaan.

²Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

²(H19:3)Päivä ilmoittaa ne päivälle, yö julistaa yölle.

³There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

³(H19:4)Ei se ole puhetta, ei sanoja, ei ääntä jonka voisi korvin kuulla.

⁴Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

⁴(H19:5)Kuitenkin se kaikuu kaikkialla, maanpiirin yli merten ääriin. Hän on tehnyt sinne majan auringolle.

⁵Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

⁵(H19:6)Ja aurinko nousee kuin sulhanen hääteltastaan, kuin sankari riemukkaana juoksemaan rataansa.

⁶His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

⁶(H19:7)Taivaan äärestä se lähtee ja kaartaa taivaan toiseen ääreen, eikä mikään jää sen paisteelta piiloon.

⁷The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

⁷(H19:8)Herra on antanut täydellisen lain, se virvoittaa mielen. Herran ohjeet ovat luotettavat, ne neuvovat taitamatonta.

⁸The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

⁸(H19:9)Herran käskyt ovat oikeat, ne ilahduttavat sydämen. Herran määräykset ovat kirkkaat, ne avaavat silmäni näkemään.

⁹The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

⁹(H19:10)Herran sana on puhdas ja aito, se pysyy iäti. Herran säädökset ovat lujat, ne ovat oikeita kaikki.

¹⁰More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

¹⁰(H19:11)Ne ovat kalliimmat kuin puhdas kulta, kalliimmat kuin kullan paljous, makeammat kuin mesi, maistuvammat mehiläisen hunajaa.

¹¹Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

¹¹(H19:12)Ne opastavat minua, palvelijaasi, niiden noudattamisesta saa suuren palkan.

¹²Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

¹²(H19:13)Mutta kuka huomaa kaikki erehdyksensä? Puhdista minut rikkomuksistani, niistäkin, joita en itse näe.

¹³Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

¹³(H19:14)Varjele minut myös eksyttäjiltä, etten joutuisi heidän valtaansa. Silloin olen viaton ja puhdas, monesta synnistä vapaa.

¹⁴Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

¹⁴(H19:15)Ota sanani suopeasti vastaan, sanani ja sydämeni ajatukset, Herra, turvani ja lunastajani.
