2Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
2(H49:3)niin alhaiset kuin ylhäiset, rikas ja köyhä yhtä lailla!
3My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
3(H49:4)Suuni puhuu tiedon sanoja, sydämeni pohtii viisautta.
4I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
4(H49:5)Minä tahdon tutkistella mietelauseita, ratkoa arvoituksia lyyraa soittaen.
5Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?
5(H49:6)Miksi pelkäisin pahana päivänä, kun petturien kavaluus saartaa minut?
6They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
6(H49:7)He luottavat rikkauteensa, kerskailevat suurella omaisuudellaan.
7None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
7(H49:8)Mutta henkeään ihminen ei voi lunastaa, ei hän voi käydä kauppaa Jumalan kanssa.
8(For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
8(H49:9)Elämän lunnaat ovat liian kalliit, ne jäävät iäksi maksamatta.
9That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.
9(H49:10)Ei ihminen elä ikuisesti, ei hän vältä hautaa.
10For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
10(H49:11)Viisaatkin kuolevat, se on nähty, yhtä lailla kuin tyhmät ja typerät. Heidän omaisuutensa jää muille.
11Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
11(H49:12)Hauta on ikuisesti heidän kotinsa, heidän asuntonsa ajasta aikaan, vaikka he eläessään omistivat maat ja mannut.
12Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
12(H49:13)Rikkainkaan ihminen ei ole ikuinen, eläinten tavoin hän lakkaa olemasta.
13This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.
13(H49:14)Tämä on heidän tiensä, mielettömien tie, ja yhä uudet ihmiset mieltyvät heidän puheisiinsa. (sela)
14Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
14(H49:15)Kuin lammaslauma he vaipuvat tuonelaan, kuolema paimentaa heitä siellä. Jo seuraavana päivänä oikeamieliset kulkevat heidän ylitseen. Tuonela on heidän asuinsijansa, se kuihduttaa heidät.
15But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
15(H49:16)Mutta Jumala lunastaa minut, hän tempaa minut tuonelan otteesta. (sela)
16Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
16(H49:17)Älä kadehdi, kun joku rikastuu, kun hän kartuttaa talonsa omaisuutta.
17For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
17(H49:18)Kuollessaan hän ei ota mukaansa mitään, hänen omaisuutensa ei seuraa häntä hautaan.
18Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.
18(H49:19)Vaikka hän eläessään ihastelee osaansa ja toiset kiittävät hänen menestystään,
19He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.
19(H49:20)hänen täytyy mennä isiensä luo, paikkaan, jossa ei valoa nähdä.
20Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
20(H49:21)Rikkainkaan ihminen ei ole ikuinen, eläinten tavoin hän lakkaa olemasta.
