¹These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

¹Solches redete Jesus und hob seine Augen zum Himmel empor und sprach: Vater, die Stunde ist gekommen; verherrliche deinen Sohn, damit dein Sohn dich verherrliche!

²As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

²gleichwie du ihm Vollmacht gegeben hast über alles Fleisch, auf daß er ewiges Leben gebe allen, die du ihm gegeben hast.

³And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

³Das ist aber das ewige Leben, daß sie dich, den allein wahren Gott, und den du gesandt hast, Jesus Christus, erkennen.

⁴I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

⁴Ich habe dich verherrlicht auf Erden, indem ich das Werk vollendet habe, das du mir gegeben hast, daß ich es tun solle.

⁵And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

⁵Und nun verherrliche du mich, Vater, bei dir selbst mit der Herrlichkeit, die ich bei dir hatte, ehe die Welt war.

⁶I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

⁶Ich habe deinen Namen den Menschen geoffenbart, die du mir aus der Welt gegeben hast; sie waren dein, und du hast sie mir gegeben, und sie haben dein Wort bewahrt.

⁷Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

⁷Nun erkennen sie, daß alles, was du mir gegeben hast, von dir kommt;

⁸For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

⁸denn die Worte, die du mir gegeben hast, habe ich ihnen gegeben, und sie haben sie angenommen und haben wahrhaft erkannt, daß ich von dir ausgegangen bin, und glauben, daß du mich gesandt hast.

⁹I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

⁹Ich bitte für sie; nicht für die Welt bitte ich, sondern für die, welche du mir gegeben hast, weil sie dein sind.

¹⁰And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

¹⁰Und alles, was mein ist, das ist dein, und was dein ist, das ist mein; und ich bin in ihnen verherrlicht.

¹¹And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

¹¹Und ich bin nicht mehr in der Welt, sie aber sind in der Welt, und ich komme zu dir. Heiliger Vater, bewahre sie in deinem Namen, den du mir gegeben hast, damit sie eins seien, gleichwie wir!

¹²While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

¹²Als ich bei ihnen in der Welt war, erhielt ich sie in deinem Namen; die du mir gegeben hast, habe ich behütet, und keiner von ihnen ist verloren gegangen, als nur der Sohn des Verderbens, auf daß die Schrift erfüllt würde.

¹³And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

¹³Nun aber komme ich zu dir und rede solches in der Welt, damit sie meine Freude vollkommen in sich haben.

¹⁴I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

¹⁴Ich habe ihnen dein Wort gegeben, und die Welt haßt sie; denn sie sind nicht von der Welt, gleichwie auch ich nicht von der Welt bin.

¹⁵I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

¹⁵Ich bitte nicht, daß du sie aus der Welt nehmest, sondern daß du sie bewahrest vor dem Argen.

¹⁶They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

¹⁶Sie sind nicht von der Welt, gleichwie auch ich nicht von der Welt bin.

¹⁷Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

¹⁷Heilige sie in deiner Wahrheit! Dein Wort ist Wahrheit.

¹⁸As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

¹⁸Gleichwie du mich in die Welt gesandt hast, so sende auch ich sie in die Welt.

¹⁹And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

¹⁹Und ich heilige mich selbst für sie, damit auch sie geheiligt seien in Wahrheit.

²⁰Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

²⁰Ich bitte aber nicht für diese allein, sondern auch für die, welche durch ihr Wort an mich glauben werden,

²¹That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

²¹auf daß sie alle eins seien, gleichwie du, Vater, in mir und ich in dir; auf daß auch sie in uns eins seien, damit die Welt glaube, daß du mich gesandt hast.

²²And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

²²Und ich habe die Herrlichkeit, die du mir gegeben hast, ihnen gegeben, auf daß sie eins seien, gleichwie wir eins sind.

²³I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

²³Ich in ihnen und du in mir, auf daß sie zu vollendeter Einheit gelangen, damit die Welt erkenne, daß du mich gesandt hast und sie liebst, gleichwie du mich liebst.

²⁴Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

²⁴Vater, ich will, daß, wo ich bin, auch die bei mir seien, die du mir gegeben hast, daß sie meine Herrlichkeit sehen, die du mir gegeben hast; denn du hast mich geliebt vor Grundlegung der Welt!

²⁵O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.

²⁵Gerechter Vater, die Welt kennt dich nicht! Ich aber kenne dich, und diese erkennen, daß du mich gesandt hast.

²⁶And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

²⁶Und ich habe ihnen deinen Namen kundgetan und werde ihn kundtun, auf daß die Liebe, mit der du mich liebst, in ihnen sei und ich in ihnen!
