¹There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

¹Es kamen aber zur selben Zeit etliche herbei, die ihm von den Galiläern berichteten, deren Blut Pilatus mit ihren Opfern vermischt hatte.

²And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?

²Und er antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Meinet ihr, daß diese Galiläer mehr als alle andern Galiläer Sünder gewesen seien, weil sie solches erlitten haben?

³I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

³Nein, sage ich euch; sondern wenn ihr nicht Buße tut, werdet ihr alle auch so umkommen.

⁴Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?

⁴Oder jene achtzehn, auf welche der Turm in Siloa fiel und sie erschlug, meinet ihr, daß sie schuldiger gewesen seien als alle andern Leute, die zu Jerusalem wohnen?

⁵I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

⁵Nein, sage ich euch; sondern wenn ihr nicht Buße tut, so werdet ihr alle auch so umkommen!

⁶He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.

⁶Er sagte aber dieses Gleichnis: Es hatte jemand einen Feigenbaum, der war in seinem Weinberg gepflanzt; und er kam und suchte Frucht darauf und fand keine.

⁷Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?

⁷Da sprach er zu dem Weingärtner: Siehe, ich komme nun schon drei Jahre und suche Frucht an diesem Feigenbaum und finde keine. Haue ihn ab! Was hindert er das Land?

⁸And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:

⁸Er aber antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Herr, laß ihn noch dieses Jahr, bis ich um ihn gegraben und Dünger gelegt habe.

⁹And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

⁹Vielleicht bringt er noch Frucht; wenn nicht, so haue ihn darnach ab!

¹⁰And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.

¹⁰Er lehrte aber in einer der Synagogen am Sabbat.

¹¹And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.

¹¹Und siehe, da war eine Frau, die seit achtzehn Jahren einen Geist der Krankheit hatte, und sie war verkrümmt und konnte sich gar nicht aufrichten.

¹²And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.

¹²Als nun Jesus sie sah, rief er sie zu sich und sprach zu ihr: Weib, du bist erlöst von deiner Krankheit!

¹³And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

¹³Und er legte ihr die Hände auf, und sie wurde sogleich gerade und pries Gott.

¹⁴And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

¹⁴Da ward der Synagogenvorsteher entrüstet, daß Jesus am Sabbat heilte, und sprach zum Volke: Es sind sechs Tage, an welchen man arbeiten soll; an diesen kommet und lasset euch heilen, und nicht am Sabbattag!

¹⁵The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?

¹⁵Aber der Herr antwortete und sprach: Du Heuchler, löst nicht jeder von euch am Sabbat seinen Ochsen oder Esel von der Krippe und führt ihn zur Tränke?

¹⁶And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

¹⁶Diese aber, eine Tochter Abrahams, die der Satan, siehe, schon achtzehn Jahre gebunden hielt, sollte nicht von diesem Bande gelöst werden am Sabbattag?

¹⁷And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

¹⁷Und als er das sagte, wurden alle seine Widersacher beschämt; und alles Volk freute sich über alle die herrlichen Taten, die durch ihn geschahen.

¹⁸Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?

¹⁸Da sprach er: Wem ist das Reich Gottes gleich, und wem soll ich es vergleichen?

¹⁹It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.

¹⁹Es ist einem Senfkorn gleich, welches ein Mensch nahm und in seinen Garten warf. Und es wuchs und ward zu einem Baume, und die Vögel des Himmels nisteten auf seinen Zweigen.

²⁰And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?

²⁰Und wiederum sprach er: Wem soll ich das Reich Gottes vergleichen?

²¹It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

²¹Es ist einem Sauerteig gleich, den ein Weib nahm und unter drei Scheffel Mehl mengte, bis es ganz durchsäuert war.

²²And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.

²²Und er zog durch Städte und Dörfer und lehrte und setzte seine Reise nach Jerusalem fort.

²³Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,

²³Es sprach aber einer zu ihm: Herr, werden wenige gerettet? Er aber sprach zu ihnen:

²⁴Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

²⁴Ringet darnach, daß ihr eingehet durch die enge Pforte! Denn viele, sage ich euch, werden einzugehen suchen und es nicht vermögen.

²⁵When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:

²⁵Wenn einmal der Hausherr aufgestanden ist und die Türe verschlossen hat, werdet ihr anfangen draußen zu stehen und an die Tür zu klopfen und zu sagen: Herr, tu uns auf! Dann wird er antworten und zu euch sagen: Ich weiß nicht, woher ihr seid!

²⁶Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.

²⁶Alsdann werdet ihr anheben zu sagen: Wir haben vor dir gegessen und getrunken, und auf unsern Gassen hast du gelehrt!

²⁷But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

²⁷Und er wird antworten: Ich sage euch, ich weiß nicht, woher ihr seid; weichet alle von mir, ihr Übeltäter!

²⁸There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

²⁸Da wird das Heulen und das Zähneknirschen sein, wenn ihr Abraham, Isaak und Jakob und alle Propheten im Reiche Gottes sehen werdet, euch selbst aber hinausgestoßen!

²⁹And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.

²⁹Und sie werden kommen von Morgen und von Abend, von Mitternacht und von Mittag, und zu Tische sitzen im Reiche Gottes.

³⁰And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.

³⁰Und siehe, es sind Letzte, die werden die Ersten sein; und es sind Erste, die werden die Letzten sein.

³¹The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee.

³¹Zur selben Stunde traten etliche Pharisäer hinzu und sagten zu ihm: Geh fort und reise ab von hier; denn Herodes will dich töten!

³²And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.

³²Und er sprach zu ihnen: Gehet hin und saget diesem Fuchs: Siehe, ich treibe Dämonen aus und vollbringe Heilungen heute und morgen, und am dritten Tage bin ich am Ziel.

³³Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

³³Doch muß ich heute und morgen und übermorgen reisen; denn es geht nicht an, daß ein Prophet außerhalb Jerusalems umkomme.

³⁴O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!

³⁴Jerusalem, Jerusalem, die du die Propheten tötest und steinigst, die zu dir gesandt werden; wie oft habe ich deine Kinder sammeln wollen, wie eine Henne ihre Küchlein unter ihre Flügel, aber ihr habt nicht gewollt!

³⁵Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

³⁵Siehe, euer Haus wird euch selbst überlassen! Ich sage euch, ihr werdet mich nicht mehr sehen, bis ihr sagen werdet: Gelobt sei, der da kommt im Namen des Herrn!
