¹O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.

¹Danket dem HERRN, ruft seinen Namen an, macht unter den Völkern seine Taten bekannt!

²Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.

²Singet vor ihm, spielet vor ihm, redet von allen seinen Wundern!

³Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.

³Rühmet euch seines heiligen Namens! Es freue sich das Herz derer, die den HERRN suchen!

⁴Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.

⁴Fragt nach dem HERRN und nach seiner Macht, suchet sein Angesicht allezeit!

⁵Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

⁵Gedenket seiner Wunder, die er getan, seiner Zeichen und der Urteile seines Mundes!

⁶O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.

⁶O Same Abrahams, seines Knechtes, o ihr Söhne Jakobs, seine Auserkorenen!

⁷He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.

⁷Er, der HERR, ist unser Gott; auf der ganzen Erde gilt sein Recht.

⁸He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

⁸Er gedenkt auf ewig an seinen Bund, an das Wort, das er tausend Geschlechtern befohlen hat;

⁹Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;

⁹des Bundes, den er mit Abraham geschlossen, seines Eides, den er Isaak geschworen hat.

¹⁰And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:

¹⁰Er stellte ihn auf für Jakob als Satzung, für Israel als ewigen Bund,

¹¹Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:

¹¹da er sprach: «Dir gebe ich das Land Kanaan als euer Erbteil»,

¹²When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.

¹²da sie noch leicht zu zählen waren, gar wenige und Fremdlinge darin,

¹³When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;

¹³und wandern mußten von einem Volk zum andern und von einem Königreich zum andern.

¹⁴He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;

¹⁴Er ließ sie von keinem Menschen bedrücken und züchtigte Könige um ihretwillen:

¹⁵Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

¹⁵«Tastet meine Gesalbten nicht an und tut meinen Propheten kein Leid!»

¹⁶Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.

¹⁶Und er rief eine Hungersnot herbei über das Land und zerschlug jegliche Stütze an Brot.

¹⁷He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:

¹⁷Er sandte einen Mann vor ihnen her, Joseph ward zum Sklaven verkauft!

¹⁸Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:

¹⁸Sie zwangen seinen Fuß in einen Stock; seine Seele geriet in Fesseln;

¹⁹Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.

¹⁹bis zur Zeit, da sein Wort eintraf und der Ausspruch des HERRN ihn geläutert hatte.

²⁰The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.

²⁰Der König sandte hin und befreite ihn; der die Völker beherrschte, ließ ihn los.

²¹He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance:

²¹Er setzte ihn zum Herrn über sein Haus und zum Herrscher über alle seine Güter,

²²To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.

²²daß er seine Fürsten nach Belieben binde und seine Ältesten unterweise.

²³Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

²³Da zog Israel nach Ägypten, und Jakob wurde ein Fremdling im Lande Hams.

²⁴And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.

²⁴Und er machte sein Volk sehr fruchtbar und ließ es zahlreicher werden als seine Dränger.

²⁵He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants.

²⁵Er wandte ihr Herz, sein Volk zu hassen, arglistig zu handeln an seinen Knechten.

²⁶He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.

²⁶Er sandte Mose, seinen Knecht, Aaron, den er erwählt hatte.

²⁷They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.

²⁷Die verrichteten seine Zeichen unter ihnen und taten Wunder im Lande Hams.

²⁸He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.

²⁸Er sandte Finsternis, und es ward Nacht, damit sie seinen Worten nicht widerstreben möchten.

²⁹He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.

²⁹Er verwandelte ihre Gewässer in Blut und tötete ihre Fische;

³⁰Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.

³⁰ihr Land wimmelte von Fröschen bis in die Gemächer ihrer Könige.

³¹He spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts.

³¹Er sprach; und es kamen Fliegenschwärme, Mücken in alle ihre Grenzen.

³²He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.

³²Er gab ihnen Hagel statt Regen, Feuerflammen auf ihr Land;

³³He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts.

³³und er schlug ihre Weinstöcke und Feigenbäume und zerbrach die Bäume in ihrem Land.

³⁴He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,

³⁴Er sprach; da kamen Heuschrecken und Käfer ohne Zahl,

³⁵And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.

³⁵die fraßen alles Kraut im Lande und verzehrten ihre Feldfrüchte.

³⁶He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.

³⁶Und er schlug alle Erstgeburt in ihrem Lande, alle Erstlinge ihrer Kraft.

³⁷He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.

³⁷Aber sie ließ er ausziehen mit Silber und Gold, und es war kein Strauchelnder unter ihren Stämmen.

³⁸Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.

³⁸gypten war froh, daß sie gingen; denn der Schrecken vor ihnen war auf sie gefallen.

³⁹He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.

³⁹Er breitete vor ihnen eine Wolke aus zur Decke und Feuer, um die Nacht zu erleuchten.

⁴⁰The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

⁴⁰Sie forderten; da ließ er Wachteln kommen und sättigte sie mit Himmelsbrot.

⁴¹He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.

⁴¹Er öffnete den Felsen; da floß Wasser heraus; es floß ein Bach in der Wüste.

⁴²For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.

⁴²Denn er gedachte an sein heiliges Wort, an Abraham, seinen Knecht.

⁴³And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:

⁴³Er ließ sein Volk ausziehen mit Freuden, mit Jubel seine Auserwählten.

⁴⁴And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people;

⁴⁴Und er gab ihnen die Länder der Heiden; und woran die Völker sich abgemüht hatten, das nahmen sie in Besitz;

⁴⁵That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the LORD.

⁴⁵auf daß sie seine Satzungen halten und seine Lehren bewahren möchten. Hallelujah!
