2Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.
2(H85-3) vergabst deines Volkes Schuld, decktest alle ihre Sünden zu, (Pause)
3Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.
3(H85-4) du ließest ab von deinem Grimm, wandtest dich von deines Zornes Glut:
4Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.
4(H85-5) Stelle uns wieder her, o Gott unsres Heils, laß ab von deinem Grimm gegen uns!
5Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
5(H85-6) Oder willst du ewig mit uns zürnen, deinen Zorn währen lassen von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht?
6Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
6(H85-7) Willst du uns nicht wieder neu beleben, daß dein Volk sich deiner freuen kann?
7Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.
7(H85-8) HERR, laß uns deine Gnade schauen und schenke uns dein Heil!
8I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
8(H85-9) Ich will hören, was Gott, der HERR, reden wird; denn er wird Frieden zusagen seinem Volk und seinen Frommen. Nur daß sie sich nicht wieder zur Torheit wenden!
9Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
9(H85-10) Gewiß ist sein Heil denen nahe, die ihn fürchten, daß Herrlichkeit in unserm Lande wohne,
10Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
10(H85-11) daß Gnade und Wahrheit einander begegnen, Gerechtigkeit und Friede sich küssen,
11Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
11(H85-12) daß Treue aus der Erde sprieße und Gerechtigkeit vom Himmel schaue.
12Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.
12(H85-13) Der HERR wird uns auch Gutes geben, und unser Land wird seinen Ertrag abwerfen;
13Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.
13(H85-14) Gerechtigkeit wird vor ihm hergehen und ihre Füße setzen auf den Pfad.
