¹The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

¹さて、一週の初めの日に、朝早くまだ暗いうちに、マグダラのマリヤが墓に行くと、墓から石がとりのけてあるのを見た。

²Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

²そこで走って、シモン・ペテロとイエスが愛しておられた、もうひとりの弟子のところへ行って、彼らに言った、「だれかが、主を墓から取り去りました。どこへ置いたのか、わかりません」。

³Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre.

³そこでペテロともうひとりの弟子は出かけて、墓へむかって行った。

⁴So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.

⁴ふたりは一緒に走り出したが、そのもうひとりの弟子の方が、ペテロよりも早く走って先に墓に着き、

⁵And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.

⁵そして身をかがめてみると、亜麻布がそこに置いてあるのを見たが、中へははいらなかった。

⁶Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,

⁶シモン・ペテロも続いてきて、墓の中にはいった。彼は亜麻布がそこに置いてあるのを見たが、

⁷And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.

⁷イエスの頭に巻いてあった布は亜麻布のそばにはなくて、はなれた別の場所にくるめてあった。

⁸Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.

⁸すると、先に墓に着いたもうひとりの弟子もはいってきて、これを見て信じた。

⁹For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.

⁹しかし、彼らは死人のうちからイエスがよみがえるべきことをしるした聖句を、まだ悟っていなかった。

¹⁰Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.

¹⁰それから、ふたりの弟子たちは自分の家に帰って行った。

¹¹But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,

¹¹しかし、マリヤは墓の外に立って泣いていた。そして泣きながら、身をかがめて墓の中をのぞくと、

¹²And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

¹²白い衣を着たふたりの御使が、イエスの死体のおかれていた場所に、ひとりは頭の方に、ひとりは足の方に、すわっているのを見た。

¹³And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my LORD, and I know not where they have laid him.

¹³すると、彼らはマリヤに、「女よ、なぜ泣いているのか」と言った。マリヤは彼らに言った、「だれかが、わたしの主を取り去りました。そして、どこに置いたのか、わからないのです」。

¹⁴And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

¹⁴そう言って、うしろをふり向くと、そこにイエスが立っておられるのを見た。しかし、それがイエスであることに気がつかなかった。

¹⁵Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

¹⁵イエスは女に言われた、「女よ、なぜ泣いているのか。だれを捜しているのか」。マリヤは、その人が園の番人だと思って言った、「もしあなたが、あのかたを移したのでしたら、どこへ置いたのか、どうぞ、おっしゃって下さい。わたしがそのかたを引き取ります」。

¹⁶Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

¹⁶イエスは彼女に「マリヤよ」と言われた。マリヤはふり返って、イエスにむかってヘブル語で「ラボニ」と言った。それは、先生という意味である。

¹⁷Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

¹⁷イエスは彼女に言われた、「わたしにさわってはいけない。わたしは、まだ父のみもとに上っていないのだから。ただ、わたしの兄弟たちの所に行って、『わたしは、わたしの父またあなたがたの父であって、わたしの神またあなたがたの神であられるかたのみもとへ上って行く』と、彼らに伝えなさい」。

¹⁸Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the LORD, and that he had spoken these things unto her.

¹⁸マグダラのマリヤは弟子たちのところに行って、自分が主に会ったこと、またイエスがこれこれのことを自分に仰せになったことを、報告した。

¹⁹Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

¹⁹その日、すなわち、一週の初めの日の夕方、弟子たちはユダヤ人をおそれて、自分たちのおる所の戸をみなしめていると、イエスがはいってきて、彼らの中に立ち、「安かれ」と言われた。

²⁰And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the LORD.

²⁰そう言って、手とわきとを、彼らにお見せになった。弟子たちは主を見て喜んだ。

²¹Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

²¹イエスはまた彼らに言われた、「安かれ。父がわたしをおつかわしになったように、わたしもまたあなたがたをつかわす」。

²²And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

²²そう言って、彼らに息を吹きかけて仰せになった、「聖霊を受けよ。

²³Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

²³あなたがたがゆるす罪は、だれの罪でもゆるされ、あなたがたがゆるさずにおく罪は、そのまま残るであろう」。

²⁴But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

²⁴十二弟子のひとりで、デドモと呼ばれているトマスは、イエスがこられたとき、彼らと一緒にいなかった。

²⁵The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the LORD. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

²⁵ほかの弟子たちが、彼に「わたしたちは主にお目にかかった」と言うと、トマスは彼らに言った、「わたしは、その手に釘あとを見、わたしの指をその釘あとにさし入れ、また、わたしの手をそのわきにさし入れてみなければ、決して信じない」。

²⁶And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.

²⁶八日ののち、イエスの弟子たちはまた家の内におり、トマスも一緒にいた。戸はみな閉ざされていたが、イエスがはいってこられ、中に立って「安かれ」と言われた。

²⁷Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

²⁷それからトマスに言われた、「あなたの指をここにつけて、わたしの手を見なさい。手をのばしてわたしのわきにさし入れてみなさい。信じない者にならないで、信じる者になりなさい」。

²⁸And Thomas answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God.

²⁸トマスはイエスに答えて言った、「わが主よ、わが神よ」。

²⁹Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

²⁹イエスは彼に言われた、「あなたはわたしを見たので信じたのか。見ないで信ずる者は、さいわいである」。

³⁰And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

³⁰イエスは、この書に書かれていないしるしを、ほかにも多く、弟子たちの前で行われた。しかし、これらのことを書いたのは、あなたがたがイエスは神の子キリストであると信じるためであり、また、そう信じて、イエスの名によって命を得るためである。

³¹But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
