¹Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

¹そこで天国は、十人のおとめがそれぞれあかりを手にして、花婿を迎えに出て行くのに似ている。

²And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

²その中の五人は思慮が浅く、五人は思慮深い者であった。

³They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

³思慮の浅い者たちは、あかりは持っていたが、油を用意していなかった。

⁴But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

⁴しかし、思慮深い者たちは、自分たちのあかりと一緒に、入れものの中に油を用意していた。

⁵While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

⁵花婿の来るのがおくれたので、彼らはみな居眠りをして、寝てしまった。

⁶And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

⁶夜中に、『さあ、花婿だ、迎えに出なさい』と呼ぶ声がした。

⁷Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

⁷そのとき、おとめたちはみな起きて、それぞれあかりを整えた。

⁸And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

⁸ところが、思慮の浅い女たちが、思慮深い女たちに言った、『あなたがたの油をわたしたちにわけてください。わたしたちのあかりが消えかかっていますから』。

⁹But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

⁹すると、思慮深い女たちは答えて言った、『わたしたちとあなたがたとに足りるだけは、多分ないでしょう。店に行って、あなたがたの分をお買いになる方がよいでしょう』。

¹⁰And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

¹⁰彼らが買いに出ているうちに、花婿が着いた。そこで、用意のできていた女たちは、花婿と一緒に婚宴のへやにはいり、そして戸がしめられた。

¹¹Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

¹¹そのあとで、ほかのおとめたちもきて、『ご主人様、ご主人様、どうぞ、あけてください』と言った。

¹²But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

¹²しかし彼は答えて、『はっきり言うが、わたしはあなたがたを知らない』と言った。

¹³Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

¹³だから、目をさましていなさい。その日その時が、あなたがたにはわからないからである。

¹⁴For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

¹⁴また天国は、ある人が旅に出るとき、その僕どもを呼んで、自分の財産を預けるようなものである。

¹⁵And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

¹⁵すなわち、それぞれの能力に応じて、ある者には五タラント、ある者には二タラント、ある者には一タラントを与えて、旅に出た。

¹⁶Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

¹⁶五タラントを渡された者は、すぐに行って、それで商売をして、ほかに五タラントをもうけた。

¹⁷And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

¹⁷二タラントの者も同様にして、ほかに二タラントをもうけた。

¹⁸But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

¹⁸しかし、一タラントを渡された者は、行って地を掘り、主人の金を隠しておいた。

¹⁹After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

¹⁹だいぶ時がたってから、これらの僕の主人が帰ってきて、彼らと計算をしはじめた。

²⁰And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

²⁰すると五タラントを渡された者が進み出て、ほかの五タラントをさし出して言った、『ご主人様、あなたはわたしに五タラントをお預けになりましたが、ごらんのとおり、ほかに五タラントをもうけました』。

²¹His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

²¹主人は彼に言った、『良い忠実な僕よ、よくやった。あなたはわずかなものに忠実であったから、多くのものを管理させよう。主人と一緒に喜んでくれ』。

²²He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

²²二タラントの者も進み出て言った、『ご主人様、あなたはわたしに二タラントをお預けになりましたが、ごらんのとおり、ほかに二タラントをもうけました』。

²³His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

²³主人は彼に言った、『良い忠実な僕よ、よくやった。あなたはわずかなものに忠実であったから、多くのものを管理させよう。主人と一緒に喜んでくれ』。

²⁴Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

²⁴一タラントを渡された者も進み出て言った、『ご主人様、わたしはあなたが、まかない所から刈り、散らさない所から集める酷な人であることを承知していました。

²⁵And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

²⁵そこで恐ろしさのあまり、行って、あなたのタラントを地の中に隠しておきました。ごらんください。ここにあなたのお金がございます』。

²⁶His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

²⁶すると、主人は彼に答えて言った、『悪い怠惰な僕よ、あなたはわたしが、まかない所から刈り、散らさない所から集めることを知っているのか。

²⁷Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

²⁷それなら、わたしの金を銀行に預けておくべきであった。そうしたら、わたしは帰ってきて、利子と一緒にわたしの金を返してもらえたであろうに。

²⁸Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

²⁸さあ、そのタラントをこの者から取りあげて、十タラントを持っている者にやりなさい。

²⁹For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

²⁹おおよそ、持っている人は与えられて、いよいよ豊かになるが、持っていない人は、持っているものまでも取り上げられるであろう。

³⁰And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

³⁰この役に立たない僕を外の暗い所に追い出すがよい。彼は、そこで泣き叫んだり、歯がみをしたりするであろう』。

³¹When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

³¹人の子が栄光の中にすべての御使たちを従えて来るとき、彼はその栄光の座につくであろう。

³²And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

³²そして、すべての国民をその前に集めて、羊飼が羊とやぎとを分けるように、彼らをより分け、

³³And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

³³羊を右に、やぎを左におくであろう。

³⁴Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

³⁴そのとき、王は右にいる人々に言うであろう、『わたしの父に祝福された人たちよ、さあ、世の初めからあなたがたのために用意されている御国を受けつぎなさい。

³⁵For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

³⁵あなたがたは、わたしが空腹のときに食べさせ、かわいていたときに飲ませ、旅人であったときに宿を貸し、

³⁶Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

³⁶裸であったときに着せ、病気のときに見舞い、獄にいたときに尋ねてくれたからである』。

³⁷Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

³⁷そのとき、正しい者たちは答えて言うであろう、『主よ、いつ、わたしたちは、あなたが空腹であるのを見て食物をめぐみ、かわいているのを見て飲ませましたか。

³⁸When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

³⁸いつあなたが旅人であるのを見て宿を貸し、裸なのを見て着せましたか。

³⁹Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

³⁹また、いつあなたが病気をし、獄にいるのを見て、あなたの所に参りましたか』。

⁴⁰And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

⁴⁰すると、王は答えて言うであろう、『あなたがたによく言っておく。わたしの兄弟であるこれらの最も小さい者のひとりにしたのは、すなわち、わたしにしたのである』。

⁴¹Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

⁴¹それから、左にいる人々にも言うであろう、『のろわれた者どもよ、わたしを離れて、悪魔とその使たちとのために用意されている永遠の火にはいってしまえ。

⁴²For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

⁴²あなたがたは、わたしが空腹のときに食べさせず、かわいていたときに飲ませず、

⁴³I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

⁴³旅人であったときに宿を貸さず、裸であったときに着せず、また病気のときや、獄にいたときに、わたしを尋ねてくれなかったからである』。

⁴⁴Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

⁴⁴そのとき、彼らもまた答えて言うであろう、『主よ、いつ、あなたが空腹であり、かわいておられ、旅人であり、裸であり、病気であり、獄におられたのを見て、わたしたちはお世話をしませんでしたか』。

⁴⁵Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

⁴⁵そのとき、彼は答えて言うであろう、『あなたがたによく言っておく。これらの最も小さい者のひとりにしなかったのは、すなわち、わたしにしなかったのである』。そして彼らは永遠の刑罰を受け、正しい者は永遠の生命に入るであろう」。

⁴⁶And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

⁴⁶そして彼らは永遠の刑罰を受け、正しい者は永遠の生命に入るであろう」。
