¹Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

¹主をほめたたえよ。主をおそれて、そのもろもろの戒めを大いに喜ぶ人はさいわいである。

²His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

²その子孫は地において強くなり、正しい者のやからは祝福を得る。

³Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

³繁栄と富とはその家にあり、その義はとこしえに、うせることはない。

⁴Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

⁴光は正しい者のために暗黒の中にもあらわれる。主は恵み深く、あわれみに満ち、正しくいらせられる。

⁵A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.

⁵恵みを施し、貸すことをなし、その事を正しく行う人はさいわいである。

⁶Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.

⁶正しい人は決して動かされることなく、とこしえに覚えられる。

⁷He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

⁷彼は悪いおとずれを恐れず、その心は主に信頼してゆるがない。

⁸His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.

⁸その心は落ち着いて恐れることなく、ついにそのあだについての願いを見る。

⁹He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.

⁹彼は惜しげなく施し、貧しい者に与えた。その義はとこしえに、うせることはない。その角は誉を得てあげられる。悪しき者はこれを見て怒り、歯をかみならして溶け去る。悪しき者の願いは滅びる。

¹⁰The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.
