¹When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language;

²Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion.

²ユダは主の聖所となり、イスラエルは主の所領となった。

³The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back.

³海はこれを見て逃げ、ヨルダンはうしろに退き、

⁴The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.

⁴山は雄羊のように踊り、小山は小羊のように踊った。

⁵What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back?

⁵海よ、おまえはどうして逃げるのか、ヨルダンよ、おまえはどうしてうしろに退くのか。

⁶Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs?

⁶山よ、おまえたちはどうして雄羊のように踊るのか、小山よ、おまえたちはどうして小羊のように踊るのか。

⁷Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;

⁷地よ、主のみ前におののけ、ヤコブの神のみ前におののけ。主は岩を池に変らせ、石を泉に変らせられた。

⁸Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
