¹Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

¹主よ、お助けください。神を敬う人は絶え、忠信な者は人の子らのなかから消えうせました。

²They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

²人はみなその隣り人に偽りを語り、へつらいのくちびると、ふたごころとをもって語る。

³The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

³主はすべてのへつらいのくちびると、大きな事を語る舌とを断たれるように。

⁴Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

⁴彼らは言う、「わたしたちは舌をもって勝を得よう、わたしたちのくちびるはわたしたちのものだ、だれがわたしたちの主人であるか」と。

⁵For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

⁵主は言われる、「貧しい者がかすめられ、乏しい者が嘆くゆえに、わたしはいま立ちあがって、彼らをその慕い求める安全な所に置こう」と。

⁶The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

⁶主のことばは清き言葉である。地に設けた炉で練り、七たびきよめた銀のようである。

⁷Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

⁷主よ、われらを保ち、とこしえにこの人々から免れさせてください。卑しい事が人の子のなかにあがめられている時、悪しき者はいたる所でほしいままに歩いています。

⁸The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
