¹Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:

¹今イスラエルは言え、「彼らはわたしの若い時から、ひどくわたしを悩ました。

²Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me.

³The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows.

³耕す者はわたしの背の上をたがやして、そのうねみぞを長くした」と。

⁴The LORD is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.

⁴主は正しくいらせられ、悪しき者のなわを断ち切られた。

⁵Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion.

⁵シオンを憎む者はみな、恥を得て、退くように。

⁶Let them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withereth afore it groweth up:

⁶彼らを、育たないさきに枯れる屋根の草のようにしてください。

⁷Wherewith the mower filleth not his hand; nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom.

⁷これを刈る者はその手に満たず、これをたばねる者はそのふところに満たない。かたわらを過ぎる者は、「主の恵みがあなたの上にあるように。われらは主のみ名によってあなたがたを祝福する」と言わない。

⁸Neither do they which go by say, The blessing of the LORD be upon you: we bless you in the name of the LORD.
