¹Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.

¹主をほめたたえよ。われらの神をほめうたうことはよいことである。主は恵みふかい。さんびはふさわしいことである。

²The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.

²主はエルサレムを築き、イスラエルの追いやられた者を集められる。

³He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

³主は心の打ち砕かれた者をいやし、その傷を包まれる。

⁴He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

⁴主はもろもろの星の数を定め、すべてそれに名を与えられる。

⁵Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

⁵われらの主は大いなる神、力も豊かであって、その知恵ははかりがたい。

⁶The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.

⁶主はしえたげられた者をささえ、悪しき者を地に投げ捨てられる。

⁷Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:

⁷主に感謝して歌え、琴にあわせてわれらの神をほめうたえ。

⁸Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.

⁸主は雲をもって天をおおい、地のために雨を備え、もろもろの山に草をはえさせ、

⁹He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.

⁹食物を獣に与え、また鳴く小がらすに与えられる。

¹⁰He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.

¹⁰主は馬の力を喜ばれず、人の足をよみせられない。

¹¹The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

¹¹主はおのれを恐れる者とそのいつくしみを望む者とをよみせられる。

¹²Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.

¹²エルサレムよ、主をほめたたえよ。シオンよ、あなたの神をほめたたえよ。

¹³For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee.

¹³主はあなたの門の貫の木を堅くし、あなたのうちにいる子らを祝福されるからである。

¹⁴He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.

¹⁴主はあなたの国境を安らかにし、最も良い麦をもってあなたを飽かせられる。

¹⁵He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly.

¹⁵主はその戒めを地に下される。そのみ言葉はすみやかに走る。

¹⁶He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.

¹⁶主は雪を羊の毛のように降らせ、霜を灰のようにまかれる。

¹⁷He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?

¹⁷主は氷をパンくずのように投げうたれる。だれがその寒さに耐えることができましょうか。

¹⁸He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

¹⁸主はみ言葉を下してこれを溶かし、その風を吹かせられると、もろもろの水は流れる。

¹⁹He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.

¹⁹主はそのみ言葉をヤコブに示し、そのもろもろの定めと、おきてとをイスラエルに示される。主はいずれの国民をも、このようにはあしらわれなかった。彼らは主のもろもろのおきてを知らない。主をほめたたえよ。

²⁰He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.
