¹Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

²O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.

²人の子らよ、いつまでわたしの誉をはずかしめるのか。いつまでむなしい言葉を愛し、偽りを慕い求めるのか。〔セラ

³But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

³しかしあなたがたは知るがよい、主は神を敬う人をご自分のために聖別されたことを。主はわたしが呼ばわる時におききくださる。

⁴Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

⁴あなたがたは怒っても、罪を犯してはならない。床の上で静かに自分の心に語りなさい。〔セラ

⁵Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

⁵義のいけにえをささげて主に寄り頼みなさい。

⁶There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

⁶多くの人は言う、「どうか、わたしたちに良い事が見られるように。主よ、どうか、み顔の光をわたしたちの上に照されるように」と。

⁷Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.

⁷あなたがわたしの心にお与えになった喜びは、穀物と、ぶどう酒の豊かな時の喜びにまさるものでした。わたしは安らかに伏し、また眠ります。主よ、わたしを安らかにおらせてくださるのは、ただあなただけです。

⁸I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
