Proverbs

9

1Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
1Li ixk li cuan xnaßleb quixyîb li rochoch ut quixyîb ajcuiß cuukub li rokechal li nacûtun re.
2She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
2Quixcamsiheb li xul nak quixbânu lix ninkße saß li rochoch. Quixyîb li châbil vino ut quixqßue xtzacaêmk saß mêx.
3She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
3Ut quixtaklaheb lix môs ixk chixyebal resil reheb li tenamit.
4Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
4Queßoc chixyebal reheb li toj sâjeb: —Quimkex lâex li mâcßaß ênaßleb. Lâex li incßaß nequetau xyâlal, châlkex.
5Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
5Châlkex. Cuaßinkex cuiqßuin. Ucßumak li vino li xinyîb.
6Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
6Chetauhak lê naßleb ut chesicßak li us. Canabomak li tôntil naßleb re nak cuânk êyußam, chanquex.
7He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.
7Cui tâkßus junak li kßetkßet li incßaß us xnaßleb, mâcßaß târaj re xban nak aßan tatxseße ut tatxhob.
8Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
8Mâqßue xnaßleb li ani naxhob ras rîtzßin xban xkßetkßetil xban nak aßan xicß chic tatril. Abanan cui tâqßue xnaßleb li naxnau cßoxlac, aßan tatxra.
9Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
9Cui tâqßue xnaßleb junak li naxnau cßoxlac, aßan kßaxal cuißchic tixtau xnaßleb. Chßolob xyâlal chiru li ani châbil ut aßan tixtzol rib chi us.
10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
10Riqßuin xxucuanquil ru li Dios natauman li châbil naßleb. Li ani naxnau ru li Dios Santo naxtau xyâlal.
11For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
11Cui châbil lâ naßleb tânajtokß ru lâ yußam saß ruchichßochß.
12If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
12Cui lâat cuan ânaßleb, âcue ajcuiß li us. Ut cui lâat aj hobonel, lâat ajcuiß tatcßuluk re li raylal.
13A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
13Li ixk li mâcßaß xnaßleb incßaß naraj kßusecß ut incßaß naxtau xyâlal.
14For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
14Nacuulac chiru xchunubanquil rib chiru li rochoch malaj ut saß junak naßajej bar cuanqueb cuiß nabal li cristian.
15To call passengers who go right on their ways:
15Ut naxbokeb li yôqueb chi numecß aran, li tîqueb xchßôl.
16Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
16Naxbokeb riqßuin li mâcßaßeb xnaßleb ut li incßaß nequeßxtau xyâlal, ut naxye reheb:
17Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
17—Us xyalbal xsahil li jalan aj e. Us xyalbal xsahil xbânunquil li cßaßak re ru chi mukmu, chan.Ut eb aßan incßaß nequeßxnau nak li yôqueb cuiß chi bokecß aßan xnaßajeb li camenak. Incßaß nequeßxqßue retal nak yôqueb chi xic saß xbehil li câmc.
18But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
18Ut eb aßan incßaß nequeßxnau nak li yôqueb cuiß chi bokecß aßan xnaßajeb li camenak. Incßaß nequeßxqßue retal nak yôqueb chi xic saß xbehil li câmc.
