1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
1Bērni, klausiet saviem vecākiem Kunga vārdā, jo tas ir taisnīgi!
2Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
2Godā savu tēvu un savu māti, tas ir pirmais bauslis ar apsolījumu:
3That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
3Lai tev klātos un tu ilgi dzīvotu virs zemes.
4And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
4Arī jūs, tēvi, nekaitiniet savus bērnus, bet audziniet viņus Kunga kārtībā un mācībā!
5Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
5Kalpi, savā sirds vienkāršībā paklausiet laicīgajiem kungiem bijībā un bailēs, tāpat kā Kristum!
6Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
6Nekalpojiet tikai acu priekšā, it kā cilvēkiem izpatikdami, bet kā Kristus kalpi, kas no sirds izpilda Dieva prātu!
7With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
7Kalpojiet labprātīgi tā, kā Kungam, bet ne cilvēkiem,
8Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
8Zinādami, ka izkviens, kas ko labu darījis, to saņems no Kunga, vai viņš būtu vergs, vai brīvais.
9And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
9Arī jūs, kungi, dariet to pašu viņiem! Atmetiet draudus, zinādami, ka viņu un jūsu Kungs ir debesīs, un Viņš neievēro personu stāvokli.
10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
10Beidzot, brāļi, esiet stipri Kungā un viņa varenības spēkā!
11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
11Tērpieties Dieva bruņās, lai jūs varētu pretī stāties velna viltībām!
12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
12Jo ne pret miesu un asinīm mums jācīnās, bet pret valdībām un varām, šīs tumsības pasaules valdniekiem, pret ļaunajiem gariem zem debess.
13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
13Tāpēc tveriet Dieva bruņas, lai jūs ļaunajā dienā spētu pretoties un pastāvēt visā pilnībā!
14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
14Tātad stāviet, apjozuši savus gurnus patiesībā, tērpušies taisnības bruņās,
15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
15Un kājas apāvuši miera evaņģēlija sludināšanai!
16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
16Pie visa tā tveriet ticības vairogu, ar kuru jūs spēsiet apdzēst visas ļaunā ugunīgās bultas!
17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
17Ņemiet arī pestīšanas bruņu cepuri un gara zobenu (tas ir, Dieva vārdu)
18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
18Un garā lūdziet Dievu katrā laikā, visādi Viņu pielūdzot un piesaucot! Bez tam esiet modri un visā neatlaidībā aizlūdziet par visiem svētajiem,
19And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
19Arī par mani, lai man tiktu doti vārdi, kad atdarīsies mana mute, un es drošsirdīgi sludinātu evaņģēlija noslēpumu!
20For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
20Tā labad es pildu savu sūtību važās, lai tanī rastu drosmi tā runāt, kā man tas pienākas.
21But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:
21Bet lai arī jūs zinātu, kā man klājas un ko es daru, tad par to visu jums pastāstīs Tihiks, mīļais brālis un uzticamais kalps Kungā.
22Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.
22Es tāpēc sūtīju viņu pie jums, lai jums būtu ziņas par mūsu stāvokli un lai iepriecinātu jūsu sirdis.
23Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
23Miers lai ir brāļiem un mīlestība līdz ar ticību no Dieva Tēva un Kunga Jēzus Kristus!
24Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
