1हे शब्द म्हणजे दावीदाचा मुलगा शलमोन याची शहाणपणाची शिकवण आहे. तो इस्राएलचा राजा होता.
2To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
2लोक शहाणे व्हावेत आणि त्यांना योग्य गोष्ट कोणती ते कळावे म्हणून हे शब्द लिहिले गेले. या शब्दांमुळे लोकांना खरे शिक्षण समजण्यास मदत होईल.
3To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
3हे शब्द लोकांना जगण्याची सर्वोत्कृष्ट पध्दत शिकवतील. लोक न्यायी, इमानी आणि चांगले राहाण्याचा योग्य मार्ग शिकतील.
4To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
4ज्या लोकांना शहाणपण शिकण्याची गरज आहे, त्यांना हे शब्द शहाणपण शिकवतील. तरुण माणसे या शब्दांपासून शिकू शकतील.
5A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
5या शब्दांतली शिकवण शहाण्या माणसांनी सुध्दा अतिशय काळजीपूर्वक ऐकली पाहिजे, तरच ते अधिक शिकू शकतील आणि अधिक शहाणे होतील. आणि जे लोक चांगले वाईट ओळखण्यात तरबेज आहेत त्यांना अधिक चांगले समजू शकेल. त्या
6To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
7पहिली गोष्ट म्हणजे माणसाने परमेश्वराला मान दिला पाहिजे आणि त्याची आज्ञा पाळली पाहिजे. नंतर त्याला खरे ज्ञान मिळायला सुरुवात होईल. पण ज्या लोकांना पाप आवडते ते शहाणपणाचा आणि योग्य शिकवणीचा तिरस्कार करतात.
8My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
8मुला, तू तुझ्या वडिलांची शिकवण पाळली पाहिजेस. आणि तू तुझ्या आईची शिकवणही पाळायला हवीस.
9For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
9तुझ्या आईचे आणि वडिलांचे शब्द म्हणजे तुझे मस्तक सुशोभित करणारा फुलांचा मुकुट आहे. ते शब्द म्हणजे तुझ्या गळ्याभोवती असलेली सुंदर माळ आहे.
10My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
10मुला, ज्या लोकांना पाप आवडते ते लोक तुला प्रलोभने दाखवतील. तू त्यांचे ऐकू नकोस.
11If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
11ते पापी म्हणतील, “आमच्याबरोबर चल. आपण लपू आणि कोणाला तरी मारण्याची वाट बघू.
12Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
12आपण कोणत्या तरी निरपराध माणसावर हल्ला करु आपण त्या माणसाला मारु आणि त्याला मृत्युलोकात पाठवू
13We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
13आपण किमती वस्तूंची चोरी करु. आपण त्या माणसाचा सर्वनाश करु व त्याला कबरेत पाठवू. आपण अशा वस्तूंनी आपले घर भरु.
14Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
14तेव्हा आमच्याबरोबर ये आणि या गोष्टी करायला आम्हाला मदत कर. आपल्याला ज्या गोष्टी मिळतील त्या आपण वाटून घेऊ.”
15My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
15मुला, ज्या लोकांना पाप आवडते त्यांच्या मागे जाऊ नकोस. ते ज्या रस्त्यावर राहातात त्या रस्त्यावर एक पाऊलही टाकू नकोस.
16For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
16ते लोक दुष्कृत्य करायला नेहमी तयार असतात. त्यांची नेहमी लोकांना ठार मारण्याची इच्छा असते.
17Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
17लोक पक्ष्यांना पकडण्यासाठी जाळे पसरतात. पण पक्षी जेव्हा तुम्हाला बघत असतो तेव्हा त्याला पकडण्यासाठी जाळे टाकण्यात अर्थ नसतो.
18And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
18ते वाईट लोक लपतात व कोणाला तरी मारण्यासाठी वाट बघतात पण खरोखर तेच त्या सापळ्यात अडकतील. त्यांच्या सापळ्यामुळे त्यांचाच नाश होईल.
19So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
19आधाशी लोकांचे असेच असते. ते नेहमी दुसऱ्यांच्या वस्तू घेतात. त्या वस्तूंनीच त्यांचा नाश होतो.
20Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
20ऐक! ज्ञान (रुपी स्त्री) लोकांना शिकवायचा प्रयत्न करीत आहे. ती रस्त्यात आणि बाजारात ओरडत आहे.
21She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
21ती गजबजलेल्या रस्त्याच्या कोपऱ्यावरुन बोलावत आहे. लोकांनी तिचे ऐकावे म्हणून शहाच्या दरवाजाशी प्रयत्न करीत आहे. ज्ञान (रुपी स्त्री) म्हणते.
22How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
22“तुम्ही लोक मूर्ख आहात. तुम्ही आणखी किती काळ मूर्ख गोष्टी करीत राहाणार आहात? तुम्ही ज्ञानाची थट्टा किती काळ करीत राहाणार आहात? तुम्ही ज्ञानाचा किती काळ तिरस्कार करणार आहात?
23Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
23तुम्ही माझ्या सल्ल्याकडे आणि शिकवणुकीकडे लक्ष दिले असते तर मला जे माहित आहे ते सर्व मी तुम्हाला सांगितले असते. मला जे सर्व माहित आहे ते तुम्हाला सांगितले असते. मी माझे सर्व ज्ञान तुम्हाला दिले असते.
24Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
24“परंतु तुम्ही माझे ऐकायला नकार दिला. मी मदत करायचा प्रयत्न केला. मी माझा हात दिला. पण तुम्ही माझी मदत झिडकारली.
25But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
25तुम्ही दूर गेलात आणि माझ्या सल्ल्यांकडे दुर्लक्ष केले. तुम्ही माझे शब्द स्वीकारायला नकार दिलात.
26I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
26म्हणून मी तुमच्या संकटांना हसेन. तुमच्यावर संकटे आलेली पाहून मला आनंद होईल.
27When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
27मोठ्या वादळांप्रमाणे तुमच्यावर मोठी संकटे येतील. जोरदार वाऱ्याप्रमाणे तुमच्यावर समस्या आघात करतील. तुमची संकटे आणि दु:ख तुम्हाला खूप मोठ्या ओइयासारखे वाटेल.
28Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
28“या सर्व गोष्टी घडतील तेव्हा तुम्ही माझी मदत मागाल. पण मी तुम्हाला मदत करणार नाही. तुम्ही मला शोधाल पण मी तुम्हाला सापडणार नाही.
29For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
29मी मदत करणार नाही कारण तुम्हाला माझे ज्ञान नको होते. तुम्ही परमेश्वराची भीती बाळगायला आणि त्याला मान द्यायला नकार दिला.
30They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
30तुम्ही माझा सल्ला ऐकायला नकार दिलात. मी तुम्हाला योग्य मार्ग दाखवला तेव्हा तुम्ही माझे ऐकले नाही.
31Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
31म्हणून आता तुम्ही तुमच्या मार्गाने चला. तुम्ही तुमच्या वाईट मार्गाने जीवन जगलात म्हणून तुम्ही तुमचा सर्वनाश करुन घेणार आहात.
32For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
32“मूर्ख लोक मरतात कारण त्यांनी ज्ञानाचा मार्ग चोखाळायला नकार दिलेला असतो. त्यांचा मूर्ख मार्ग चोखाळण्यात त्यांना आनंद मिळतो. आणि त्यानेच त्यांचा नाश होतो.
33But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
33परंतु जो माझी आज्ञा पाळतो तो सुरक्षित राहातो. तो समाधानी असतो. त्याला वाईट गोष्टींची भीती बाळगायचे कारण उरत नाही.”
